(2025·上海三模改编)
Interviewer: Hi, Johnson. Thanks for being here today. We want to talk about freeganism. Can you tell us what that means?
Johnson: Freeganism is a way of life that helps reduce waste in our society. Freegans are people who try to live by using what others throw away.
Interviewer: Where do freegans look for food?
Johnson: Freegans look for food in the rubbish bins that are behind shopping centres or in the lanes(小巷) behind buildings.Surprisingly, some of the food is still good. They might even find food that is still packed and just out of date.
Interviewer: Is this allowed?
Johnson: It may not be allowed, because the rubbish bins are often on private land.If they are caught, they can be arrested. But people still believe it helps reduce waste and is good for the environment.
Interviewer: Is it dangerous?
Johnson: It can be dangerous, not just because the food might be bad, but also because there could be dangerous things in the rubbish. Freegans have to be careful and make sure they don't hurt themselves.
Interviewer: Are there freegans in Shanghai?
Johnson: The answer is yes, but exact numbers aren't known. The big chain supermarkets and shops have stopped throwing away food. Now they give it to food banks, so there are not many choices for Shanghai freegans.
Interviewer: Can you share a personal story?
Johnson: Mariela became a freegan after she lost her job in New York. She had a sick husband and three kids to look after. One day, she saw workers throwing food into bins behind a supermarket. She took what she could carry home to feed her family. Now, they have been freegans ever since. Mariela even made a film about her experience, called Freegans in New York. The film will be shown during Save The Earth Week to show how freegans live and why.

(2024·镇江一模) Nowadays, Open AI company's ChatGPT, Dall-E and Sora have been a hot topic all around the world. But perhaps most of us have never thought about what it takes to run such intelligent(智能的) products. One thing this technology depends on may get you surprised— plenty of water!
Why does a computer programme need so much water? In fact, in order to have the ability to write like a human, an AI system must first study a large amount(数量) of text written by humans. In the process, it not only uses much electricity but also produces much heat. So, on hot days, computer engineers use water to keep the computers cool.
Microsoft has worked with Open AI for years. In a recent report, Microsoft shared how much water was used from 2021 to 2022. The total amount of water used in cooling machines is enough to fill more than 2,500 Olympic-sized swimming pools. It is believed the training of AI systems leads to the big rise.
Usually, AI supercomputing centres lie in places that are cool for most of the years. These centres can just use outside air to cool the computers. But in summer, the temperature goes to 30℃. The computer engineers have to use a large amount of water to cool all the machines.
ChatGPT also“drinks” water while chatting.Scientists have worked out the environmental costs of using AI products. For a conversation of20 to 50 questions and answers, ChatGPT uses up a bottle of water, about 500 ml. The exact amount of water used in chatting changes with the seasons.
Many people are unaware of the problem. If you don't know how many resources ChatGPT uses, how can you help to save water? The next time you are amazed at how smart ChatGPT is,think about how much water it's“drinking”.Why not reduce the time of talking to machines— to help save the earth's water resources?

四、阅读与回答问题
根据短文内容,回答下列问题。
In our consumer-driven world, the connection between food and the land is often lost. What we eat and how we grow food directly influence climate change, which in turn affects crop yield and health.
In 1860, Cincinnati was a pork production powerhouse, well-known in a bad way as Porkopolis in Ohio, the United States. The local people were upset and angry with the pollutants let out by the slaughterhouse(屠宰场) industry, saying, “DeerCreek(the local river), often running red … was a terrible and dirty pool.” So many people complained(投诉、抱怨) about it that the slaughterhouses finally moved to other places.
Today, food production accounts for about25% of all global greenhouse gas emissions(排放). Across the US, cattle farming was one of the significant(重大的) causes of greenhouse gas production and global deforestation among food production. Research suggests that ifAmericans were able to replace beef with beans as a source of protein(蛋白质), we would meet the goals in the Paris Climate Agreement.Although space can and should be held for culturally significant foods that are made with animal products, replacing them effectively with a plant-based alternative(替代物) makes a difference. A plant-based diet is not only environmentally smart. Studies have shown that plant-based diets are better for your heart and your brain, and they lower the risk of cardiovascular disease and dementia, particularly in the elderly. By developing a plant-based diet, you can lower your carbon footprint from food by 70%.
Reducing food waste is another influential way to lower food-related emissions. Food waste accounts for 8—10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. You can cut your food waste by saving leftovers and buying food that does not go bad quickly, like frozen vegetables. You can also reduce the distance your food travels and the need for extra packaging and cold storage by buying food at farmers' markets. Buying local food has the additional benefit of supporting local farmers and food producers. Taking part in a community garden is also an excellent way to make sure that the food you eat is nutritious and low-emission while building relationships, food access, and green spaces in your neighbourhood.
1. Why did slaughterhouses in Cincinnati move?
2. How can Americans meet the goals in the Paris Climate Agreement according to research?
3. How much can a plant-based diet reduce carbon footprint?
4. What extra benefits does buying local food have?
5. How do you try to reduce food waste at home?
