In my high school PE class last fall, I watched a quiet girl find her leadership by creating a new rule, a slow boy find his confidence as a goalkeeper, and a group of unconcerned students become a team that cheered for every victory. More than once, I was surprised by students’ growth moments.
But things were different at the beginning of the semester. Then, in our PE class, the first unit was a traditional series of training: running, doing push-ups, and practicing basketball shots. Most students practiced unwillingly. Their movements were slow, and few showed any real enjoyment. I was a little disappointed. Then I realized that the problem was the way itself. The children would play for hours in their own invented games.
As a new month started, I changed our focus to student-designed games and team challenges. They found the activities much more exciting. In the next unit, we did working-together adventure games. After that, we had a sports event chosen by students. I only required that everyone take part actively and that the team work together to achieve a goal. The results were wonderful. The students welcomed the challenges. The classes were filled with laughter. Students also solved problems in creative ways, and everyone supported each other. They changed totally.
I walked into the semester believing that PE was important for building physical fitness and teaching sports skills. However, my students showed something more important to me. When the final whistle (哨子) blew in December, I walked away with a new plan about sport’s most valuable reward — the power to build confidence, to unite a group, and to help us discover the best in ourselves and each other.
24. What happened to the students according to paragraph 1?
A. They experienced great changes.
B. They won an important sports competition.
C. They complained about the difficult training.
D. They failed to meet the teacher’s expectations.
25. Why did the students perform poorly at first?
A. They had weak sports skills.
B. They were short of team spirit.
C. The training activities were challenging.
D. The training method failed to attract them.
26. What change did the author make?
A. He invited key coaches for guidance.
B. He introduced more challenging games.
C. He focused on student-led and team sports.
D. He increased the difficulty of physical training.
27. What does the author’s experience show?
A. Teaching is learning. B. Still waters run deep.
C. Training is powerful. D. Practice makes perfect.

If you want to become a fluent English speaker, you should take some advice: there are four skills in learning English. They are listening, speaking, reading and writing. The most important thing you must remember is that if you want to improve your speaking and writing skills, you should first gain the skills of reading and listening.
Read as much as you can. But your reading must be active. It means that you must think about the meaning of the sentences, the meaning of the unfamiliar words, etc.
There is no need for you to pay much attention to grammar or try to understand all the unfamiliar words you come across, but the fact you see them for the first time and recognize them whenever you see them, for example in other passages or books, is enough. It would be better to prepare yourself a notebook so you can write down the important words or sentences in it.
As for listening, there are two choices: besides reading, you can listen every day for about 30 minutes. You can only pay attention to your reading and become skillful at your reading, then you can catch up on your listening. Since you have lots of inputs (输入) in your mind, you can easily guess what the speaker is going to say. This never means that you should not practice listening.
For listening, you can listen to cartoons or some movies that are specially made for children. Their languages are easy. Or if you are good at listening, you can listen to VOA or BBC programs every day. Again the thing to remember is being active in listening and preferably taking some notes. If you follow these pieces of advice, your speaking and writing will improve automatically, and you can be sure that with a little effort they will become perfect.
28. According to the author, which should you improve first among the four skills?
A. Reading and listening. B. Reading and writing.
C. Writing and speaking. D. Speaking and listening.
29. To improve your reading, when you read, you should ________.
A. look up all the new words in the dictionary. B. think about what you are reading actively.
C. spend more time studying grammar. D. copy as many words and sentences as possible.
30. What does the underlined words “come across” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. Meet by accident. B. Wind up. C. Lose on purpose. D. Look for.
31. Which of the following may the author agree with?
A. Everyone should listen to VOA or BBC programs every day.
B. You needn’t practice listening if you keep in reading every day.
C. Being good at reading is helpful in improving your listening.
D. You should take notes of whatever you are hearing.
D
As one of the fashions in education in recent memory, you’ve certainly heard of the flipped classroom (翻转课堂). It is a type of blended learning where students are introduced to knowledge at home and practice using it at school. This is the opposite of the more common practice of introducing new content at school, then giving homework and projects to be completed by the students independently at home.
In this blended learning model, face-to-face communication is mixed with independent study — usually through videos and e-dictionaries. In a common flipped classroom setting, students might watch pre-recorded videos at home, then come to school to do the homework armed with questions and at least some background knowledge.
The idea behind the flipped classroom is to rethink when students can use the resources they need most. If the problem is that students need help with the work rather than being introduced to the new thinking behind the work, then the solution the flipped classroom takes is to reverse the traditional teaching method.
In a flipped classroom, students watch online lectures (线上讲座), review online course materials, read physical or digital texts, and take part in an online discussion at home. What happens at school includes skill practice, in-person or face-to-face discussions with classmates, presentations, experiments, peer (同行) review, and so on. It allows students to stop, look up words online, and rewatch, creating a ready-made library for student review.
Of course, it’s not that simple. There are some disadvantages of a flipped classroom. Just like in a regular classroom, success depends greatly on the quality of teachers, the clarity of conversations, and the quality of given courses, tests, and instructions. Further, fairness is still a major issue, and it doesn’t fix the outdated method most educational systems take to courses.
32. What does the flipped classroom feature?
A. More dependence on hobbies. B. Technology-assisted learning.
C. Parent-child cooperation. D. Less focus on textbooks.
33. What does the underlined word “reverse” mean in paragraph 3?
A. Research. B. Examine. C. Change. D. Shape.
34. What is the advantage of the flipped classroom?
A. It gives personalized experiences. B. It develops creativity in students.
C. It builds trust among peers. D. It simplifies learning steps.
35. Why is the flipped classroom criticized?
A. It fails to change teachers’ thinking. B. It hardly improves students’ grades.
C. It causes unclear dialogues. D. It only touches the surface.

He spent hours every day doing math exercises, but the more he practiced, the more confused he became.
One day, after another disappointing practice test, Tim almost gave up. He sat alone in the empty classroom, staring blankly at the test paper full of red crosses. Just then, his math teacher, Mr. Smith, came in. Noticing Tim’s distress, Mr. Smith sat beside him and said softly, “Tim, I know you’ve been working hard. Everyone has setbacks in learning. The key is not to be defeated by them.” With that, Mr. Smith patiently went through the test paper with Tim, explaining the mistakes one by one and giving him some useful study tips.
Encouraged by Mr. Smith, Tim decided to change his learning method. He started to make a detailed study plan, dividing the math knowledge into small parts and solving problems step by step. He also joined a study group in the class. In the study group, he could discuss difficult questions with his classmates.
As the mid-term exam was approaching, Tim was both nervous and looking forward to it. On the day before the exam, while he was doing the last-minute review, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his head. The headache got worse and worse, making it impossible for him to concentrate.

Some light showers have been forecast since last month, but all of them have been effective in surrounding areas. Summer has not even started yet, but temperatures have reached 40℃ in the past three days. And people have been warned not to go out of their homes—not if you walk on foot, at least—between 11 in the morning and 7 in the evening. Little kids and the elderly are the ones who have suffered the most from this extreme heat wave. They must drink water all the time. To help our audience have a better understanding of this extreme weather, we have invited Prof. Torres from University of Mexico to our studio this evening.

B
【答案】24. A 25. D 26. C 27. A
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了作者在高中体育课上通过改变教学方式,让学生们经历巨大变化并收获成长的故事。
【24题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段“In my high school PE class last fall, I watched a quiet girl find her leadership by creating a new rule, a slow boy find his confidence as a goalkeeper, and a group of unconcerned students become a team that cheered for every victory. More than once, I was surprised by students’ growth moments.(去年秋天在我的高中体育课上,我看到一个安静的女孩通过制定新规则找到了自己的领导力,一个迟缓的男孩作为守门员找到了自信,一群漠不关心的学生变成了一个为每一次胜利欢呼的团队。我不止一次对学生的成长时刻感到惊讶)”可知,学生们经历了巨大的变化。故选A。
【25题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段“Most students practiced unwillingly. Their movements were slow, and few showed any real enjoyment. I was a little disappointed. Then I realized that the problem was the way itself. The children would play for hours in their own invented games.(大多数学生都不愿意练习。他们的动作很慢,很少有人表现出真正的享受。我有点失望。然后我意识到问题出在方法本身。孩子们会在自己发明的游戏中玩上几个小时)”可知,学生们一开始表现不佳是因为训练方法没有吸引他们。故选D。
【26题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段“As a new month started, I changed our focus to student-designed games and team challenges.(随着新的一月的开始,我把我们的重点转向了学生设计的游戏和团队挑战)”可知,作者做出的改变是专注于学生主导和团队运动。故选C。
【27题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段“I walked into the semester believing that PE was important for building physical fitness and teaching sports skills. However, my students showed something more important to me. When the final whistle (哨子) blew in December, I walked away with a new plan about sport’s most valuable reward — the power to build confidence, to unite a group, and to help us discover the best in ourselves and each other.(我走进这个学期时,相信体育对于增强体质和传授运动技能很重要。 故选A。
C
【答案】28. A 29. B 30. A 31. C
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章为想流利表达英语的人提供了建议,首先应掌握阅读和听力技能,然后口语和写作技能会自动提高。
【28题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段“The most important thing you must remember is that if you want to improve your speaking and writing skills, you should first gain the skills of reading and listening.(你必须牢记的最重要的一点是:如果你想提高自己的口语和写作能力,那么首先就应该掌握阅读和听力的技能)”可知,在四项技能中应该首先提高阅读和听力技能。故选A。
【29题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段“Read as much as you can. But your reading must be active. It means that you must think about the meaning of the sentences, the meaning of the unfamiliar words, etc.(尽可能多地阅读。但你的阅读必须是积极主动的。这意味着你必须思考句子的意思、不熟悉的单词的意思等等)”可知,为了提高阅读技能,阅读时应该积极地思考正在阅读的内容。故选B。
【30题详解】
词句猜测题。根据划线词上文“There is no need for you to pay much attention to grammar or try to understand all the unfamiliar words(你无需过分关注语法,也无需试图去理解……所有生僻词汇)”以及后文“but the fact you see them for the first time and recognize them whenever you see them, for example in other passages or books, is enough.(但重要的是,你第一次见到他们时就能认出他们,而且无论何时再次见到他们(比如在其他篇章或书籍中),你都能认出他们,这就足够了)”可知,此处指阅读时意外遇见的生僻词汇,故划线词意思是“意外遇见”。故选A。
【31题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段中“You can only pay attention to your reading and become skillful at your reading, then you can catch up on your listening. Since you have lots of inputs (输入) in your mind, you can easily guess what the speaker is going to say.(你只需专注于阅读并提高阅读能力,这样你就能跟上听力学习进度了。因为你的脑海中有很多信息输入,所以你能很容易地猜出说话者接下来会说什么)”可知,熟练地阅读,确保有大量的输入,可以提高听力技能。由此推知,作者会同意“善于阅读有助于提高你的听力”的观点。故选C。
【答案】32. B 33. C 34. A 35. D
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了翻转课堂这一混合式学习模式的概念、实施方式、核心理念及存在的优缺点。
【32题详解】
细节理解题。根据文章第二段中的“In this blended learning model, face-to-face communication is mixed with independent study — usually through videos and e-dictionaries. (在这种混合学习模式中,面对面交流与独立学习相结合,通常通过视频和电子词典来实现独立学习)”可知,翻转课堂的核心特征是依赖技术工具,如视频、电子词典等辅助学习。故选B项。
【33题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第三段中的“the solution the flipped classroom takes is to reverse the traditional teaching method. (翻转课堂的解决方案是reverse传统教学方法)”,结合第一段中的“This is the opposite of the more common practice of introducing new content at school, then giving homework and projects to completed by the students independently at home. (这与更常见的做法相反——通常是在学校教授新内容,然后让学生在家独立完成家庭作业和项目)”以及第四段的介绍可知,reverse在此语境中指彻底改变传统教学模式,即:翻转课堂的解决方案是颠覆传统教学方法,故选C项。
【34题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段中的“It allows students to stop, look up words online, and rewatch, creating a ready-made library for student review. (它允许学生暂停、在线查词、重复观看,形成可随时复习的资源库)”可知,翻转课堂的核心优势是支持学生按个人节奏自主学习。故选A项。
【35题详解】
推理判断题。根据文章末段中的“Further, fairness is still a major issue, and it doesn’t fix the outdated method most educational systems take to courses. (此外,公平性仍是主要问题,它并未解决教育系统普遍采用的过时教学方法)”可推知,批评的核心是翻转课堂未能触及教育体系的根本缺陷,仅停留在表面改良。故选D项。

How is everything going? I’m writing to share something exciting with you.
Since I entered high school, I’ve not only gained knowledge but also taken part in various school activities. The one that impressed me most was our school’s English Drama Festival last month. Our class performed a short play based on The Little Prince. I played the fox, and though I was nervous at first, I gradually gained confidence on stage. Through this experience, I improved my spoken English and learned the importance of teamwork. More importantly, it helped me overcome my fear of speaking in public.
I still remember you told me that your school also holds interesting events. What activity has left the deepest impression on you? I’m really curious and looking forward to your story!

67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It was the midterm of senior one. Tim, a determined but easily-frustrated student, was facing a big challenge in math. His previous test scores were far from satisfactory, which made him quite worried about the coming mid-term exam.

The next day, Tim went to the exam room with Mr. Smith’s encouragement.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】 Tim was too anxious about the exam to fall asleep, even though he knew he needed a good rest. His mind blank and heart messy, he was at such a complete loss that he had no clue about what action to take. He buried his face in the quilt, tears blurring his eyes for a long time and finally overflowing almost uncontrollably as waves of frustration swept over him. The harder he strove to compose himself, the more restless and distracted he felt. Just at this critical moment, the louder ring of the phone broke the silence when anxiety had almost overwhelmed him. It turned out to be his math teacher. Mr. Smith encouraged him, “Tim, don’t be stressed. You have started diligently and made remarkable progress these days.” His timely encouragement was as comforting as a ray of sunshine in the dark clouds of his anxiety. Tim took a deep breath, gradually calmed down and finally managed to get some sleep.
The next day, Tim went to the exam room with Mr. Smith’s encouragement. Pregnant with a mix of worry and determination, Tim unfolded the test paper. The instant his eyes landed on the paper, he found the problems manageable and accessible to tackle. For the first time, math seemed less like a foreign language but more like a puzzle waiting to be solved. With Mr. Smith’s encouragement echoing in his mind and a newfound sense of confidence cultivated, he solved all the problems smoothly. Upon the release of the results, he got a much more satisfactory grade. A look of relief tinged with excitement appeared on his face. It dawned on him that with the courage to continue in the face of adversity, even the hardest challenges could be victories.
