When I started to..., I... to relax; to make new friends; to learn a new skill; to reduce stress; to try new things; ... Ask a few students to share their opinions to motivate interest of students. Step 2 Identify facts and opinions(1b) (1)Ask students to skim and find the names of the two students to find the parts with their related information. T:Today, let’s move to two students’ interesting hobbies and learn about how hobbies can improve our life. T:Firstly, skim the text and catch the names of the two students. Ss:Luca Bruno and Maya. T:So which paragraphs are about their hobbies separately? Ss:Para.2-3 are about Luca and Para.4-6 are about Maya. (2)Identify facts and opinions Explain the core concepts: Clarify the difference between “fact” and “opinion” Facts are statements that are true. On the other hand, opinions express a feeling or belief. They may or may not be true. Look for key words like “think” or “believe” to help you identify whether a statement is an opinion.
