Planting trees can be good for the planet! Trees help by taking in carbon dioxide, which makes the planet warmer, to make their food. So, planting trees seems like a good idea to help cool the earth, right? Well, not quite. Where you choose to plant trees matters a lot.
Scientists have learned that not all places are good for planting trees. They made a special map to show the best places to plant trees. In these places, trees can really help cool the planet.
As far as we know, trees are usually dark and absorb heat from the sun. Light colors, like white, do the opposite, though. They reflect sunlight. Snow and ice are very good at reflecting sunlight, which helps keep the planet cool. So what will happen if we plant dark trees in icy places? These places will take in more heat instead of reflecting it. So, these are not the best places to plant trees.
At the same time, scientists found that trees can be very helpful in certain places. For example, in warm and wet areas like the Amazon and Congo Basin, trees can take in a lot of carbon dioxide without changing how much sunlight is reflected. These are great places to plant trees!
Scientists say that planting trees is still a good idea. But with this research, people can make better choices about where to plant trees to help cool the earth better.
26. How did scientists help with tree planting?
A. They created equipment to help reflect sunlight.

六、读写综合(本大题分为A、B两部分,共25分)
请阅读下面这篇文章,根据所提供的信息,回答5个问题。要求所写答案语法正确、语义完整。
As the world develops, we are seeing a growing number of elderly people around us. In many countries, the elderly population is growing. This is because people are living longer, and birth rates (出生率) are lower. So how can we show our love and care for them in our daily lives?
One simple way is to spend time with the elderly. Most of the time, all they need is someone to talk to. Many elderly people feel lonely because their children may be far away or busy with their own lives. Visiting them, listening to their stories and having a chat can make them feel happy and valued (被珍视).
Another way to show care is to help the elderly with small things. For example, when we go to the store, we can offer to help them carry something. We can also help them with housework like cleaning or cooking. These small acts of kindness can make a big difference in their day.
We also need to be patient with the elderly. They may forget things or take longer to do things. Instead of rushing them, we should gently guide or help them if needed, especially when introducing new things to them. It’s important for us to show respect and understanding for them.
In our busy lives, it’s easy to forget about the elderly. But by offering them our time and love, we can help them feel cared for and bring happiness to their lives. After all, they have given us so much, and it’s our turn to give back.

Dear Mr. Smith,
I hope this email finds you well. I’m writing to share some ideas about the problems caused by our growing student population.
First, the dining hall is always crowded at lunchtime, making it hard to find seats. Second, our computer rooms and labs don’t have enough equipment for everyone. Third, the playground gets too busy after class.
To fix these, we could add more seats or build a bigger dining hall. We can also buy more computers and lab tools, and set different break times for different grades to ease the crowding.
