The 9th Asian Winter Games, which took place between Feb. 7 and Feb. 14, attracted a large number of inbound tourists who enjoyed sightseeing and shopping in Harbin, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, injecting new vitality (活力) into cultural and tourism consumption (消费)。
Data from Alipay (支付宝), which is operated by technology company Ant Group, show that during the Games, the amount spent by inbound tourists using Alipay increased nearly six times compared to the same period last year.
To effectively ensure a safe, efficient and convenient payment service for the Games, the local branches of the People’s Bank of China and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange focused on improving the level of payment services such as foreign card acceptance, mobile payments, cash services and foreign currency exchange.
“Under the guidance of the central bank’s local branch, Alipay launched two sets of mobile payment solutions for inbound tourists — allowing them to link an overseas bank card to Alipay and access their overseas e-wallets to scan Alipay QR codes for mobile payment services,” said Katelyn Ko, director of international traveler payment business department at Alipay.
Alipay now enables inbound tourists in Harbin to more easily use services such as online car-hailing, public transportation, subways, bicycles, dining, supermarkets, hotels and tourist attractions, providing a consumer experience as simple and convenient as that of domestic residents.
Furthermore, Alipay launched the new payment service Alipay Tap in about 6, 000 well-known business sites in Harbin, including Harbin Ice and Snow World and the 9th Asian Winter Games souvenir shops.
In July 2024, Alipay upgraded its QR code payment and introduced the Alipay Tap After unlocking their phones, users can make payments by simply tapping the payment device without opening Alipay.
Erica Dawn, a tourist from the United States, said she had a wonderful trip to Harbin. “During the visit to Harbin, I experienced the 500-meter giant slide at the renowned ice and snow park, and tasted various local cuisines, such as the Modern ice lollipop,” said Dawn. “Every time I paid, I chose Alipay Tap, which is very convenient and advanced. It can prevent my hands from getting cold outside and also helps shorten the waiting time in lines.”
Ko said, “The ice and snow economy ignites the winter season, and we hope to help inbound tourists enjoy sightseeing and shopping in Harbin by optimizing payment services, allowing them to further experience the charm of the ice city.”

When you open a certain mobile app, there’s usually an open-app advertisement that gets in your way. Some of these ads can send you to another app if you shake your phone a bit. And this has been causing heated discussion online recently.
These open-app ads act like “doors” — no matter which app you open, you may always end up in those apps that have more ads. During online shopping festivals, for example, users are usually led to shopping apps like Taobao and JD.
There are already a number of regulations (法规) on this problem. A regulation that came out in December 2022 gave specific rules for how these “shake-to-open” ads should operate. It said that the rotation angle (旋转角度) of the phone should be larger than 35 degrees, and the time spent shaking the phone should be longer than 3 seconds. Starting from May, the ads must have a clear button (按钮) to let users to close them.
However, putting these regulations into action can be difficult. The total number of apps is large, making it hard for authorities to look into every app. There were at least 2.59 million apps released (发布) in January and February alone.
However, this shouldn’t be the reason for the mobile apps to step out of these“lines” and take advantage. That way, what all the platforms really get is people’s complaints. Over 90 percent of users strongly dislike such open-app ads, according to the Jiangsu Consumer Council.
Such ads hurt an app’s reputation (声誉) because fewer users may want to use them after being taken to other apps too many times. To get real recognition (认可) from users, the apps should respect their choices and provide them with ads that they can choose to click (点击) on only if they want to.
52. What does the phrase “gets in your way” mean in Paragraph 1?
A. It means “leads you to another app”.
B. It means “prevents you from entering the app”.
C. It means “forces you to buy something useless”.
D. It means “steals your personal information”.
53. In Paragraph 2, Taobao and JD are used as examples of ______.
A. apps that have open-app ads B. apps that open-app ads lead to
C. apps that were discussed heatedly recently D. apps that many people go shopping online with
54. According to the regulations, ______.
A. ads in the apps should be totally stopped B. people don’t need to shake hard to open ads
C. people should easily find where to close the ads D. apps with open-app ads will be closed
55. It is difficult to put these regulations into action because ______.
A. it’s difficult to manage the app developers B. users really need these open-app ads
C. apps have more new ways to present ads D. it’s hard to regulate a large number of apps
56. What is probably the writer’s opinion?
A. More ads will give apps good reputations.
B. Users mind products more than ads in apps.
C. Apps should let users decide whether to open the ads.
D. Apps have earned too much money from open-app ads.
B 53. B 54. C 55. D 56. C

During online shopping festivals, for example, users are usually led to shopping apps like Taobao and JD.
根据第三段中“Starting from May, the ads must have a clear button to let users to close them. (从5月开始,这些广告必须设置一个清晰的按钮,以便用户关闭广告。)”可知,规定要求广告必须有清晰的关闭按钮,即人们应该能容易找到关闭广告的地方。故选C。
【55题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段中“The total number of apps is large, making it hard for authorities to look into every app. (应用程序的总数庞大,这使得相关部门很难对每个应用进行审查。)”可知,难以实施这些规定是因为应用数量庞大,难以对所有应用进行监管。故选D。

_________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】解锁手机后,用户无需打开支付宝,只需点击支付设备即可进行支付。
【解析】
【详解】考查动名词作宾语。After unlocking their phones:解锁手机后,介词短语作时间状语,动名词短语“unlocking their phones”作介词“After”的宾语;users:用户,复数名词作主语;can make payments:可以进行支付,“情态动词+动词原形”构成复合谓语,“payments”作宾语;by simply tapping the payment device:通过只点击支付设备,介词短语作方式状语,动名词短语“tapping the payment device”作介词“by”的宾语;without opening Alipay:无需打开支付宝,介词短语作伴随状语,动名词短语“opening Alipay”作介词“without”的宾语。

These open-app ads:这些开屏应用广告,作主语;act like:表现得像,作谓语,一般现在时;doors:门,作宾语;在破折号后的部分中,no matter which app you open:无论你打开哪个应用程序,让步状语从句,其中“no matter which”为从句引导词;you:你,作主句主语;may always end up in:可能总会进入,作主句谓语,其中“may”为情态动词,“always”为副词;those apps:那些应用程序,作主句宾语;that have more ads:有更多广告的,定语从句,修饰先行词“apps”。

On Facial Recognition Technology
Technology is changing the face of the world, and now faces are changing technology too. Facial recognition technology, with its capacity to analyze a huge amount of data, has come into widespread use. It works by comparing the facial features of given images with those in a database. It offers a quick and cool alternative to traditional passwords, and you cannot forget your own face! In theory, networks which use our own body as passwords should also be safer from hackers and better protect us from identity theft than those that use traditional passwords, mainly because every individual is unique. This technology is especially useful in public places: banks, airports and railway stations, to name but a few.
However, facial recognition technology has also started to pose some difficult questions. Experts have been giving warnings about this technology, saying it may not be as good as we think. Facial expressions often vary, which makes facial recognition less effective. Moreover, there is growing concern that we might fall victim to this technology, as there are cases in which hackers have broken into facial recognition system by using people’s social media photos to build models of their faces.
Scientists and engineers are urged to improve existing technology and make it fail-safe. Apparently, this will be a tough task. Whatever happens, we need to make sure that facial recognition technology can be trusted — or we will have to face the consequences.

59. Advantages 60. using
61. effective
62. where/in which
根据文章第1段“In theory, networks which use our own body as passwords should also be safer from hackers … (理论上,使用我们自身作为密码的网络应该也更能抵御黑客攻击……)”可知,使用我们自身作为密码的网络应该也更能抵御黑客攻击,空处需要填“使用”的非谓语形式,use与Networks是主动关系,因此要用现在分词using来构成后置定语。故填using。
根据文章第2段“Facial expressions often vary, which makes facial recognition less effective. (面部表情经常变化,这会降低人脸识别的有效性。)”可知,面部表情经常变化,会降低人脸识别的有效性,“less effective”意为“效果较差的”,符合语法和语境。故填effective。
【62题详解】
根据文章第2段“… as there are cases in which hackers have broken into facial recognition system by using people’s social media photos … (因为存在一些案例,黑客通过使用人们的社交媒体照片入侵了人脸识别系统)”可知,此处需要引导定语从句的关系词。先行词是cases,表示抽象地点,关系词在从句中作状语,所以用where(或 in which)来引导定语从句。故填where/in which。
