B The afternoon air was thick and warm, and by the time my dad and I reached the bay, which we called a swimming palace, my clothes were damp and itchy (痒) on my skin. Dad dived into a splash, heading out toward the edge of our narrow bay. Overwhelmed, suddenly, and with envy, I did what I hadn’t done in years: I held my breath and pulled my own head underwater. There, suspended beneath the glimmering surface, I remembered it all — my love of diving, swimming, rivers and lakes. I knew what it was like again: to be free and fully present in my own skin. Though I’ve always loved the water, I had spent seven years prior to that day staying away from moments like this one. I was afraid. Struggling for a long time with unhelpful treatments, and the pressures of teenage girls’ appearance, I had become entirely reliant on my makeup. I needed total control over how I looked, and going swimming meant washing this control away. My bare face and natural appearance were not something I identified with. I hated it, deeply, though I wished more than anything that I didn’t. But those 10 minutes of contentment I floated within were fuel for the next chapter of my life. Suddenly, it didn’t matter how I did it. Whether through medication or mental attitude, I would find a way to have the kind of life that allowed me to dive into the water. That day was the beginning of a slow but determined journey back to my own body — a slow unearthing of my deep self-consciousness. Life didn’t change in a heartbeat: I returned to the shore with all the same fears, but I clothed myself in a new determination to change things. I felt the tide turn. Reflecting on this moment again today, it seems strange to think that going bare-faced on an empty beach was such a challenge. But this is exactly the perspective I had once dreamed of reaching. I do my best never to take for granted this freedom I have found. I will sink under the surface of the water, embracing that swell of fear and joy and liberation. 24.What can we learn from the first two paragraphs? A.My father’s action inspired me. B.I once suffered from memory loss. C.My envy prevented me from diving. D.The bay was where I learned swimming. 25.The author avoided swimming for seven years because of ______ . A.pressure from independence B.treatment for mental illness C.inconvenience of making up D.insecurity about appearance 26.How did the author feel after she returned from the diving? A.Hesitant and fearful. B.Restless but joyful. C.Proud and contented. D.Afraid but resolute. 27.What message does the author want to convey in the passage? A.Do not judge a book by its cover. B.Self-acceptance is the greatest gift. C.Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. D.Nothing is difficult to a willing heart. C Researchers at the University of Waterloo are developing new technology that would free people with diabetes (糖尿病) from painful finger sticks to monitor their blood sugar. A team led by engineering professor George Shaker has combined radar and artificial intelligence (AI) to detect changes in glucose (葡萄糖) levels without the need to draw blood several times a day. The system under development uses the radar device to send high-frequency radio waves into liquids containing various levels of glucose and receive radio waves that are reflected back to it. Information on the reflected waves is then changed into digital data for analysis by machine-learning AI, developed by the researchers. The software is capable of detecting glucose changes based on more than 500 wave features or characteristics including how long it takes for them to return to the device. Initial tests with volunteers at the Research Institute for Aging in Waterloo achieved results that were 85 percent as accurate as traditional, invasive (穿刺式的) blood analysis. “The result was actually amazing,” says Shaker. “We have shown it is possible to use radar to look into blood to detect changes.” Next steps include enhancing the system to precisely quantify glucose levels and obtain results through the skin, which makes the process more challenging. The research team is also working with German hardware company Infineon to make the radar device smaller so that it is both low-cost and low-power. The data analyzed by AI is now sent wirelessly to computers, but the final aim is self-contained technology similar to the smartwatches that monitor heart rate. “I’m hoping we’ll see a wearable device on the market within the next five years,” Shaker says. “There are challenges, but the research has been going at a really good rate.” 28.What is paragraph 3 of the text mainly about? A.The radar-reflected wave analysis process. B.The high-frequency wave transmission technique. C.The machine-learning-powered glucose detection. D.The technical principle underlying the system. 29.What do Shaker’s words in paragraph 5 suggest? A.The traditional blood analysis’s accuracy is emphasized. B.The radar technology’s limitations are noticed. C.The volunteers’ test performance was highlighted. D.The radar system’s practicality is proven. 30.What does the follow-up study focus on? A.Improving skin-based glucose quantification. B.Exploring low-cost AI and radar technology. C.Developing smartwatches for AI analysis. D.Sending analyzed data to computers wirelessly. 31.What is Shaker’s attitude toward the research? A.Unclear. B.Critical. C.Approving. D.Doubtful. D Have you ever wondered what happens to that single-use plastic bottle after you place it in a recycling bin? Most people assume it’ll be recycled, sooner or later. Unfortunately, the reality is far more complex. More often than not, that bottle starts a long and tough global journey, frequently ending up in other countries. Under ideal circumstances, it’s cleaned, sorted and broken down into small pieces to produce new items like packaging. If it is packaging itself that has been thrown, it’ll probably end up as a form of fuel. In other situations, however, it is shipped to landfills in developing regions, potentially polluting soil and water, endangering wildlife, and perhaps even finding its way back into your home through the global fish trade. In his book Waste Wars, journalist Alexander Clapp follows rubbish, travelling to some of the world’s most unpleasant places. There, he documents villages buried under mountains of imported plastic, and areas where workers take apart electronic waste from developed nations to extract valuable metals. Through these accounts, he reveals the global trade in waste and various influences it brings. While some waste trades are beneficial-such as China’s past use of imported plastic as industrial raw materials, or Turkey’s change of scrap metal into highways and skyscrapers—many shipments contain non-recyclable materials, causing serious problems. The Basel Convention, which came into effect in 1992, dealt with the shipment of dangerous waste but left plenty of loopholes (漏洞). Thus, many countries have been trying to stop waste imports ever since. In 2017, China, once one of the largest importers of plastic waste for recycling, banned such imports. Similar bans in Thailand and Indonesia went into effect this year. Then, what is to be done? There is no easy solution! Producers are required to take more responsibility for what they make. However, balancing environmental and economic goals remains constantly difficult, especially given varied national conditions. Greater global awareness and cooperation are therefore extremely important to tackle this pressing issue. 32.What can be inferred from the generally-believed way of plastic bottle recycling? A.It is more idealistic than practical. B.It is far from complex and tough. C.It lives up to people’s expectations. D.It reflects the actual process of recycling. 33.What is the BEST possible result for a recycled plastic bottle? A.Buried in landfills. B.Used as factory fuel. C.Turned into new packaging. D.Shipped to another country. 34.Why is Clapp’s book Waste Wars mentioned? A.To criticize international waste shipment. B.To illustrate the global waste trade’s impacts. C.To showcase recycling is seldom successful. D.To promote the economic benefits of waste. 35.What is the author’s main purpose in writing the text? A.To promote the book Waste Wars by Alexander Clapp. B.To appeal to the public to raise their environmental awareness. C.To indicate how recycling systems work in different countries. D.To reveal challenges and complexities of global waste recycling. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 The ways to turn one day off into a 24-hour vacation For people with inflexible schedules or limited time off from work, flying for a day trip can be an attainable way to experience a place without committing to a longer vacation. Kevin Droniak says he is “addicted” to 24-hour travel. Droniak, a content creator, has documented over a dozen trips originating from New York on TikTok. 36 Typically, it involves an early-morning flight, a period of exploring a city or a specific attraction, then a departure in the evening or the following morning. “I want to showcase that travel can have an incredible impact even if time isn’t on your side,” said Droniak, 28. Fast-paced travel and 24-hour journeys appear earlier than social media and viral fads. However, this hardcore style of travel taps into our modern desire for quick, impactful experiences that are easily documented and shared. 37 Droniak says the key to jet-setting day trips is not to over-plan. 38 On a trip to Puerto Rico, for instance, his objective was simply to go to the beach. In Cairo (yes, Droniak spent one day there from New York), his only goal was to see the pyramids. 39 Most people might consider a route like this extremely exhausting, but Droniak insists that he embraced and enjoyed the sweaty adventure. “I know it’s not for everyone, but, for me, I love just sitting on a plane, so flying is part of the fun. It’s also helpful that I can sleep upright,” he said. The idea of flying anywhere for a day trip is inconceivable, but Droniak considers the most worthwhile experiences are ones that fully get you out of the house. “ 40 Because it makes it possible to experience a childlike sense of wonder again,” he said. A.You shouldn’t over-plan your trip. B.It’s travel’s version of instant satisfaction. C.Even a short trip is better than staying home. D.And in Paris, his purpose was to visit the Eiffel Tower. E.That means having only one “motive” for each place. F.24-hour travel is not a new idea and has been popular since it appeared. G.Of these trips, he usually sticks to a “24-hour whirlwind check-off” format. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 I grew up across the road from a 4-H camp. On Tuesday, his dad sat him at the kitchen table, voice tight, to say he’d lost his job. The air felt thick, like no one dared breathe. Wednesday, Mom frowned, holding the rent notice, “It’s going up next month.” Ron stared at his shoes, knowing savings were thin. By Friday, a crumpled (皱巴巴的) invitation from Ella—his bright Climbing Club friend—fell from his textbook. He wanted to go to her birthday party, but showing up empty-handed made his throat tight. He had almost no allowance (零花钱) left; what could he buy? That afternoon, a wind blew a “Second-Hand Book Sale” flyer at him, which led Ron to the library stand. There he saw varieties of books smelling of old paper. Two caught his eye: a red cookbook and a women’s explorers’ book with soft covers. Ella loved hiking and once mentioned her grandma teaching her to bake. “She’d like these,” he whispered, but doubted-would she think second-hand books cheap? Then he remembered her old water bottle and “recycling’s caring for others’ loved stuff.” He used his last dollar, and left with the two books under his arm, feeling less upset. Saturday’s party was beautifully decorated and full of sweet cake smell. Ron lingered (徘徊) by the door for a minute, watching Ella laugh as she opened a new jacket from her cousin. Finally when he handed his wrapped books, he murmured, “Happy birthday!” Ella paused, and Ron’s heart skipped a beat—did she hate it? He bit his lip, ready to apologize, but she just looked up at him, her smile soft. “Thanks, Ron,” she said, but didn’t say more. Ron tried to enjoy the party, but a little worry hung over him all night. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Home later, his laptop dinged—it was Ella’s email. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Reading the email, Ron felt a stone off his heart. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式。开始。Could you pick me up this afternoon? Our school plans to hold a class meeting themed “Introducing Chinese Traditional Culture” next Friday afternoon. The meeting aims to let students have a deeper understanding of our traditional culture and will be displayed on our school’s English website later. We want to select the most attractive parts of Chinese traditional culture for the presentation. Since you’re familiar with foreign people’s preferences, could you give us some advice on which aspects of Chinese traditional culture are more appealing to foreigners? For example, is it Chinese calligraphy, traditional festivals, or something else? Looking forward to your reply. Yours, Li Hua 【导语】本篇书面表达属于应用文。要求考生以李华的身份给外国朋友Chris写一封邮件,征求关于哪些中国传统文化更吸引外国人的建议,以便在主题班会上进行介绍。 【详解】1.词汇积累 计划做某事:plan to do→intend to do 旨在:aim to do→be aimed at  doing 展示:display→showcase 对……有吸引力:be appealing to→be attractive to 2.句式拓展 合并简单句 原句:Our school plans to hold a class meeting themed “Introducing Chinese Traditional Culture” next Friday afternoon. She wrote that Ron’s gift was the best one she had gotten, saying she had stayed up reading the explorers’ book, which made her feel she could go anywhere. She mentioned that Grandma and she would bake cookies with the cookbook the next day. She added the pages were so soft, feeling like someone had already loved the book, and that they got to love it too. Finally, she thanked Ron for giving her something that was not just a gift but something she would use and remember forever.Para.1 Version 2 Home later, his laptop dinged—it was Ella’s email. She wrote, “I had to email you right away—your gift is the best one I got. I stayed up reading the explorers’ book—it makes me feel I can go anywhere. Grandma and I went through the cookbook; we’ll bake cookies tomorrow. The pages are so soft, feeling like someone already loved it, and now we get to love it too. Thank you for giving me something that’s not just a gift—it’s something I’ll use, and remember, forever.” Para.2 Reading the email, Ron felt a stone off his heart. He grinned so wide that his cheeks felt warm. Outside, the sky cleared, with a few stars twinkling softly like little sparks of joy. He thought about how a small, thoughtful gift could turn a tough week around. For the first time all week, he felt light—like he’d given something that mattered, not just a thing but a piece of care. And that, he thought, was better than any fancy gift in the world. 词汇激活 行为类 ① 熬夜:stay up/burn the midnight oil ② 感受:feel like/sense that ③ 感谢:thank/appreciate 情绪类 ① 笑:grin/beam ② 开心:joy/delight ③ 体贴的:thoughtful/considerate 【点睛】【高级句型1】Finally, she thanked Ron for giving her something that was not just a gift but something she would use and remember forever. W: I really can’t afford any more interruptions. I’ve got to finish this paper. Besides, my car needs to be checked before I drive it. 2. 【原文】M: I failed the exam again. What would you do if you were in my place? W: Jeff, if I were you, I would play computer games less. You can ask your parents for help. It’s not that difficult to change yourself. M: Yeah. You’re right. 3. 【原文】M: Look at those dark clouds gathering in the sky. I’m afraid we might be in for another storm like last week. W: Yeah, I noticed it too. But the weather forecast said it would be sunny today. Let’s just hope it stays that way. 4. 【原文】W: It’s a very beautiful picture, but it costs too much. You may have made a lot of money as an art dealer. M: Actually, I was a banker before. I could make twice as much. I changed my job because art is my favorite. 5. 【原文】W: Your new shirt reminds me of the one that I saw in the new department store last week. Did you get it there? M: No, I got it at the shopping center near my home. It cost me $150. W: Well, I don’t think it’s a good deal. 6.~7. 【原文】W: What are you doing, Jack? M: Oh, I’m going on a 4-day hiking trip with my friends the day after tomorrow. So I’m preparing the hiking equipment now. W: What have you prepared? M: A backpack that can hold some food and water. W: Do you have proper clothing? M: Yes, I have quick-dry pants and T-shirts. W: Don’t forget to take your umbrella in case it rains. M: Oh, I have a waterproof jacket and a pair of waterproof pants. My main job is digital design, but I picked up these skills from my grandfather. W: What do these tiny springs do? M: They control ink flow and keep the tip balanced. W: Can I try fixing one now? And she is even one year younger than me. I think she is really cool. She has inspired me to take up the sport. M: It’s great for young people to have role models. W: Yes. My family and friends have given me lots of support, which is also important to me. M: How did you learn to play the sport? W: I took online lessons provided by Victorian Skateboarding Association. The course was a part of its All Aboard program, which encourages women and girls to get involved in skateboarding. M: That sounds great. 14.~17. 【原文】W: Hi, Tim. Welcome to our program. How did you start your coffee-shop business? M: I began with a tiny corner cart near campus — just 12 seats inside. I loved the smell of fresh beans, so I quit my office job and opened my own place. W: How did you pick your second shop? M: I searched for two years. One day I saw an old bookstore for sale on Pine Street. I chatted with the owner every week until she agreed to sell. W: Why that spot? M: It’s just two blocks from my apartment. I walk my dog past it every morning. W: The new café is called “Chapter Two.” Any story behind the name? M: Sure — it used to be a bookstore, and it’s my second location. People can start a new “chapter” over coffee. W: What can you tell me about the space? M: We have 28 seats, four kinds of coffee mixes, and a small stage for weekend music. W: Thanks a lot for sharing your incredible journey with us, Tim. M: Happy to do it. 18.~20. 【原文】 The concept of “food miles” is a modern idea coined in the 1990s by Professor Tim Lang. The term was first used in a food report by scholar Angela Paxton.
