(1)根据首句信息,充分想象短文内容;
(2)围绕主题中心,找准作者思路线索;
(3)把握各小节主题,厘清上下文衔接关系和全篇层次结构;
(4)挖掘上下文对设空处的信息提示与暗示;
(5)利用生活常识,合理思维;

(1)根据首句信息,充分想象短文内容;
(2)围绕主题中心,找准作者思路线索;
(3)把握各小节主题,厘清上下文衔接关系和全篇层次结构;
(4)挖掘上下文对设空处的信息提示与暗示;
(5)利用生活常识,合理思维;

In April, my uncle's cherry orchard is an amazing sight.When I was a boy, I would climb high in the tree where I could 1 my head out on top, feeling like diving in cherry-blossom seas.
Years later, though, the orchard faced 2 :summer was coming earlier, and with it came persistent plum rains.The cherries rotted on the trees.My uncle lost money for three years running.One year, many trees died from a bark disease and half his 3 had worms.Finding a worm in a cherry can scar you for life.You 4 into it, spit it out, and then check the 5 half of the cherry only to find a wiggling maggot(蛆虫).
Uncle 6 had to do something.He really didn't have much of a 7 , then, when a man came with his suitcase full of studies and sample pesticides, fertilizers and bottles of strange-looking liquids.Uncle 8 the contract, and soon began to manage the orchard in a new way.
The trees seemed to 9 some of their vitality, but I gradually noticed something 10 .The large, glowing red cherries grew unusually uniform in size.The birds, once enthusiastic 11 , chose to stay away.Small insects were rarely 12 around the tree bases.
I asked uncle about it, and he just shrugged.“ 13 , the weather and the worms, none of it really matters any more.” Uncle thought it was a small 14 to pay for a healthy orchard and a booming business.
As for me, I miss the cherry orchard from my childhood, a place of simple joys and 15 wonders.

A month ago today I stood there:90 degrees south, the top of the bottom of the world.Together with two friends Richard and Kevin, I had just broken the world speed record for a(n) 1 to the South Pole.We 2 five days off the previous best time.Meanwhile, I became the first person in history to 3 the entire 650-mile journey, solely on feet, without skis.
Imagine 4 a sled with 170 pounds of gear for survival on this Antarctic trek.We 5 a massive headwind at -40 ℃ every single day.And some of the cracks in the ice have a thin footbridge underneath that could 6 at a moment's notice, taking our sled, us, into the abyss(深渊).
About two years ago, I met an extraordinary man, Peter Thum, whose dedication 7 me to come up with this expedition:a run to the South Pole where, with a(n) 8 website, I will be able to bring young people globally on 9 the expedition with me.So we would be blogging to these students that were tracking us as well. 10 , they would ask us questions.The website worked brilliantly as a two-way street of 11 .
Amazingly, we arrived at the South Pole.We looked at each other with looks of 12 at what we had just completed, which set me 13 , “What do I take from this journey?” Six years before that I had been a pack-a-day smoker, living 14 .Now, within every fiber of my belief standing here, I know from this journey that we can make the impossible possible and we are 15 of doing anything we set our minds to.
