阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
From more boiling summers to more frequent floods, warming weather is impacting our lives in every aspect. For animals, however, it’s not just a comfortable living environment in danger, but their very existence (生存). Many animals that we love, including penguins and elephants, are in danger of disappearing due to climate change.
A study published on March 7 used fossils from sea creatures to find out which animals are facing the highest risk of extinction as our planet’s climate continues to shift.
Carried out by the University of Oxford, the study found that the size of an animal plays a big part in its ability to survive and reproduce. Smaller animals are more likely to become extinct because they tend to use up their energy quickly due to their size. They need lots of food to keep going, so any change that makes food scarce (短缺的) affects them more. Furthermore, small animals usually don’t live as long as larger ones, making them more vulnerable (易受伤害的) to factors that might reduce their numbers.
Another problem is that small animals generally can’t travel far. So, if their current home is disturbed, or if they face danger, it’s tough for them to find new homes or escape threats. If their living area is broken apart, or if they end up isolated from each other, they are more at risk of going extinct, according to the study.
Apart from small animals, those living in extreme heat or cold, such as at the poles, are facing more threats from climate change. These places go through big weather changes, making life even more difficult for species that have already been dealing with tough conditions. As climate change worsens, these extreme environments change rapidly, posing a greater risk for the animals living there.
This study presented us with important information on how to protect wildlife as the world gets warmer. “Knowing which creatures are most at risk is crucial for planning conservation efforts as climate change worsens,” commented the website Earth. By focusing on the most vulnerable species, conservationists can direct their work more effectively, making the most of limited resources and improving the chances of keeping biodiversity alive despite the environmental challenges.
1. What is the biggest consequence of climate crisis on animals?
A. Their fossils are at risk. B. Their sizes are getting smaller.
C. Their survival is under threat. D. Their habitats get uncomfortable.
2. What factors make smaller animals easily affected by global warming?
A. Energy source and living style. B. Food shortage and life duration.
C. Eating and reproduction patterns. D. Travel capacity and isolation preference.
3. According to the author, how can we effectively protect animals from the environmental challenges?
A. Plan our conservation efforts in advance.
B. Focus on the animals facing the highest risk.
C. Make the most of our current energy resources.
D. Get updated information about wildlife protection.
【答案】1. C 2. B 3. B

根据第一段中“For animals, however, it’s not just a comfortable living environment in danger, but their very existence (生存). Many animals that we love, including penguins and elephants, are in danger of disappearing due to climate change. (然而,对动物来说,不仅舒适的生活环境受到威胁,它们的生存也受到威胁。许多我们喜爱的动物,包括企鹅和大象,都因气候变化而面临消失的危险。)”可知,气候危机对动物最大的影响是它们的生存受到威胁。故选C项。
【2题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中“Smaller animals are more likely to become extinct because they tend to use up their energy quickly due to their size. They need lots of food to keep going, so any change that makes food scarce (短缺的) affects them more. Furthermore, small animals usually don’t live as long as larger ones, making them more vulnerable (易受伤害的) to factors that might reduce their numbers. (小型动物更有可能灭绝,因为由于它们的体型,它们往往会很快耗尽能量。它们需要大量的食物来维持生存,所以任何导致食物短缺的变化对它们的影响更大。此外,小型动物通常不如大型动物寿命长,这使得它们更容易受到可能减少其数量的因素的影响。)”可知,食物短缺和寿命长短这两个因素使小型动物更容易受到全球变暖的影响。故选B项。
【3题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段中“By focusing on the most vulnerable species, conservationists can direct their work more effectively, making the most of limited resources and improving the chances of keeping biodiversity alive despite the environmental challenges. When we talk about sustainability in the tech sector, the conversation often begins and ends with e-waste. The core issue isn’t merely the waste itself, but the system behind it, driven by overproduction and excessive consumption (过度消费). The smartphones, laptops and tablets we upgrade so frequently are responsible not only for mountains of discarded electronics but also for vast carbon emissions (排放), most of which are generated before the device even reaches our hands.
True sustainability in consumer electronics doesn’t start at the point of disposal (处理); it starts at the point of production. If we want to curb the environmental impact of our tech, we need to shift our focus at the source and rethink how and how often devices are made, marketed and consumed.
Addressing the environmental harms of fast tech requires a shift from overconsumption to thoughtful, sustainable care. This begins with making the most of the devices we already own. Extending their lifespan, rather than upgrading prematurely, is one of the most effective ways to reduce carbon emissions and e-waste.
When devices break, repair should be the first option. However, for some consumers, limited access to parts and support can make this difficult. Where repair isn’t possible, reselling to a professional is a far better choice than letting it gather dust in a drawer. And when a replacement is genuinely needed, choosing a second-hand or professionally repaired device can drastically reduce the environmental footprint compared to buying a new one.
Recycling still plays a role, but it should be seen as a last resort, not the go-to solution. After all, no amount of recycling can make up for the emissions created in the production phase, which is where the majority of a device’s impact lies.
This shift in mindset isn’t just about personal choices; it’s about acknowledging that the way we use and hold onto our tech has significant effects across the entire system. Thoughtful consumption matters. But to have a lasting impact, it must be part of a broader, structural shift across the industry.
4. What does the underlined part “curb” in paragraph 2 mean?
A. Ignore. B. Control. C. Measure. D. Promote.
5. What does the author suggest to lower e-waste?
A. Recycling more frequently. B. Shifting the design of devices.
C. Upgrading devices annually. D. Lengthening the use of devices.
6. What should consumers do if a device is beyond repair?
A. Take it apart. B. Store it for future use.
C. Resell it. D. Throw it into regular trash.
7. Why is recycling positioned as a final solution?
A. It fails to address emissions. B. It is a personal choice.
C. It is inconvenient. D. It increases the cost.
【答案】4. B 5. D 6. C 7. A
【解析】

Dr. Jane Goodall, a world-renowned ethologist, conservationist, and activist, dedicated her life to fostering a deeper understanding of the natural world.
From earliest childhood, Jane’s mother encouraged her fascination with animals. One of her most beloved companions was a stuffed toy chimpanzee, named Jubilee. In what her mother referred to as “Jane’s first animal research program,” she found Jane in bed with a handful of earthworms, trying to understand how they could possibly move without legs. Young Jane immersed herself in books about wild animals and dreamed of a life alongside African wildlife like Tarzan and Dr. Dolittle.
At the young age of 23, after having spent the past few years as a waitress and secretary, she finally found a way to make her dream a reality. She eagerly accepted a schoolmate’s invitation to the family farm in Kenya in 1957 and later ventured into what was then called the Gombe Stream Chimpanzee Reserve—embarking on a journey that would redefine the relationship between humans and other animals.
Taking an unorthodox approach, she immersed herself in the chimpanzee’s habitat. After months of trying to gain their trust, she was able to experience their complex society as a neighbour, rather than a distant observer. She then further departed from scientific convention by giving them names instead of numbers. She came to understand them not only as a species, but as individuals with personalities, complex minds, emotions, and long-term bonds. One day, in October 1960, she saw the chimpanzee she named David Greybeard use grass stems to fashion tools for fishing insects from their nest. Up until that enlightening moment, mainstream scientists thought humans were the only species to make and use tools, having defined us as “Man the Toolmaker.” Her insights rocked the scientific world.
In 1977, she founded the Jane Goodall Institute, spreading her conservation vision around the world. Recognised as a global icon, Jane was the author of several books that have engaged an international readership and the recipient of numerous honours. Goodall passed away on October 1, 2025, aged 91. Her words, “Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference,” continue to inspire millions to protect our planet.
8. What does the author intend to show by mentioning the earthworms?
A. Goodall’s early curiosity about animals. B. The hardship of Goodall’s childhood.
C. Goodall’s mother’s teaching methods. D. The types of animals Goodall studied.
9. What does the underlined word “unorthodox” in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. Traditional. B. Innovative. C. Disrespectful. D. Scientific.
10. Why did Jane Goodall’s discovery about David Greybeard shock the scientific world?
A. It documented the hunting techniques of chimpanzees.
B. It proved chimpanzees could communicate with humans.
C. It challenged a long-held belief about human uniqueness.
D. It revealed the emotional bonds within chimpanzee families.
11. What message does Jane Goodall’s life story convey?
A. Dream big, achieve big. B. Still waters run deep.
C. More haste, less speed. D. Practice makes perfect.
【答案】8. A 9. B 10. C 11. A

New era requires a new vocabulary. Will we still talk about the “mobile” phone when all phones are mobile, or when they are implanted within us?
Technology is everywhere nowadays, especially at work. Some people are really good at using all the cool new tools that keep popping up. They have something called a TQ, or technology quotient. Think of it like a superpower for understanding the latest tech stuff that our great-grandparents would have found really impossible. Having a high TQ means you’re good at using all the cool new things that not everyone knows about yet.
The examples are common and becoming more and more frequent. For the parents it might be a home-school video class. For the brand manager it might be search engine boosting, which helps the brand’s content rank higher in search results. And for the doctor, it might be the role of artificial intelligence in supporting the analysis of a CT scan. TQ tries to quantify our ability to make wise use of present technologies and to quickly adapt, embrace and make use of future creations. This adoption is of great importance from a variety of perspectives, from social to business. One trip into the world of ChatGPT and we can see how the way AI and search interact and operate is changing for just about everyone.
Any Mom or Dad can understand the value of IQ and EQ in predicting the potential for a child’s success. But what about technology? The ability for the child and the teacher to understand, embrace and assimilate technology will be a key aspect of their lives as we speed into the future. We are increasingly defined by technology and our active participation in everything from smartphones to Facebook. It might just be time for the basic human needs of food, water and shelter to include technology too. And when that happens, it just might be a good idea to measure it.
While this shift brings challenges, it’s unstoppable. As TQ rises, it will combine with IQ and EQ, reshaping how we live, work, and learn — turning adaptability with tech into a measurable advantage.
12. What is TQ according to the text?
A. Ability to use new technologies. B. Skill of repairing high-tech products.
C. Talent to follow modern changes. D. Speed of learning new languages.
13. Which of the following people has a high TQ?
A. A doctor who analyzes CT scans with AI assistance.
B. A manager who often uses modern search engines.
C. A grandparent who finds new tech devices challenging.
D. A mom who watches videos of her child’s school life.
14. What does the underlined word “assimilate” in the fourth paragraph mean?
A. Depend on. B. Take in. C. Lie in. D. Insist on.
15. What might be the best title for the passage?
A. Why Are IQ and EQ Important for TQ?
B. What Makes TQ the New Intelligence?
C. How Has TQ Changed in the Modern Era?
D. Where to Start Adapting to TQ Changes?
【答案】12. A 13. A 14. B 15. B

Choosing Universities and Majors
Choosing the right university and major is a crucial decision that shapes a student’s future.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】 Choosing the right university and major is a crucial decision that shapes a student’s future. A recent survey shows that 51% of students prioritize “interest and ability” when choosing universities and majors. “Scores” and “social demand” both rank second at 33%, while only 3.2% consider “parents’ opinions” a top factor.
In my view, while following one’s passion is crucial, ignoring social demand might lead to challenges in future careers. Parents’ advice, based on their experience, can also provide valuable insights. A balance between personal interest and practical considerations is essential. Therefore, students should strike a balance between their passions and practical factors. Researching job trends and seeking advice from mentors and parents can help ensure thoughtful and informed decisions.

47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文.
In the classroom of Class 7, Grade 8, students were excited about an upcoming event. The school had organized a speech competition titled “Ways to Become Successful,” and many students were eager to showcase their public speaking skills. Among them was 13-year-old Zora, who, had already won two speech contests and was full of confidence that she could win again.
Zora volunteered to represent her class in the competition, and after a round of voting, she was chosen as the class representative. Although there were only seven days left until the big day, Zora felt a sense of ease about the competition. After all, she had been here before and knew what it took to win.
At home, Zora’s father congratulated her on her achievement, while her mother reminded her to take the competition seriously. Despite her parents’ advice, Zora was convinced that her past successes meant this would be a walk in the park. Her teacher also urged her to prepare diligently, but Zora only sought help once to revise her initial draft.
As the days went by, Zora did not put in the necessary effort to refine her speech. When the day of the competition arrived, she was hit with a sudden wave of panic. She couldn’t remember the content of her speech, and as she stepped onto the stage, her anxiety only grew. After delivering the opening lines, she froze, unable to continue. The supportive applause from the audience only added to her confusion, leaving no room for her to recall her prepared words.
Zora struggled through the rest of her speech, finishing it in a state of embarrassment and shame. As she walked off the stage, she saw the disappointment in her teacher’s eyes and felt the letdown from her classmates. It was a heavy burden to bear.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】 Back at home, Zora could no longer hold back her tears. She bolted into her room and hurled herself onto the bed, weeping profusely. The recollection of her poor performance in the competition weighed heavily on her heart. Her parents quietly entered the room. Instead of getting cross, they seated themselves beside her, patiently listening as she unburdened her guilt. Zora sobbed out that she felt extremely guilty for disappointing everyone. Her parents consoled her, stating that everyone errs and it’s the way we handle failure that counts. After an extended conversation, Zora gradually composed herself and started to reflect on her errors.
The next day, Zora went to school and apologized to her class. Standing in front of the class, she appeared a bit nervous yet determined. “Dear classmates, I’m truly sorry for what happened yesterday. I failed to take the competition seriously enough, and I let our class down,” she said earnestly. To her astonishment, her classmates smiled at her and expressed their understanding. Her teacher also stepped forward and encouraged her not to be disheartened. The teacher analyzed Zora’s issues and offered her some sound advice. From that moment on, Zora learned a precious lesson. She dedicated herself more assiduously to improving her speaking skills and actively engaged in more activities, eagerly looking forward to redeeming herself.

A
From more boiling summers to more frequent floods, warming weather is impacting our lives in every aspect.
B
But to have a lasting impact it must be part of a broader, structural shift across the industry.
4. What does the underlined part “curb” in paragraph 2 mean?
A. Ignore. B. Control. C. Measure. D. Promote.
5. What does the author suggest to lower e-waste?
A. Recycling more frequently. B. Shifting the design of devices.
C. Upgrading devices annually. D. Lengthening the use of devices.
6 What should consumers do if a device is beyond repair?
A. Take it apart. B. Store it for future use.
C. Resell it. D. Throw it into regular trash.
7. Why is recycling positioned as a final solution?
A. It fails to address emissions. B. It is a personal choice.
C. It is inconvenient. D. It increases the cost.
C
C Goodall’s mother’s teaching methods.

A A doctor who analyzes CT scans with AI assistance.
