What things do you find important in life? For three teenagers, the answer lies in the precious moments and experiences that color their lives.
He Liyan, 15, from East Junior High, values the time with his grandparents most in the countryside. Every weekend, he used to visit them. His grandma made his favorite sweet potato cakes, and grandpa taught him to water the vegetables. After dinner, they sat under an old tree and listened to grandpa’s childhood stories. Now busy with studying in Grade 9, he can’t go as often. But those happy moments stay in his heart, and their warm love is what he cherishes above all.
Huang Anqi, 13, a music student in City Music School, treasures time deeply. Her days are filled with music training and school courses, which teaches her to respect time. As we know, movies play an important role in our lives nowadays. Many people love going to the movies or watching their favorite movies at home. Now let's learn some facts about movies.
Movies started in the late 1800s. In the early days, they were just short little clips(电影片段) that only lasted a minute or two. People would go to movie theaters and watch one or two of these short clips. Nowadays, most movies are about 2 hours long and have become more popular and exciting.
Today, movies are a huge business. The most expensive movie ever cost over $300 million to produce! Most movies, though, cost between 20 and 100 million dollars to make. Some movies are such a big hit that they make a ton of money at the box office(票房). The most successful movie of all time made over 2,700,000,000 dollars! That sum could buy a private island. Some other movies, however, end up in total failure and lose lots of money.
A lot of work goes into making a movie. Writers have to come up with a good story, directors must tell that story using cameras, actors, and special effects. It's a big team project. Actors are also an important part of the movie. Many people want to be movie stars. A few actors have become famous and rich. But the movie business is also competitive, so quite many of them fail to stand out or make real progress.
Movies are a big part of our culture. They bring us joy and excitement and have a way of touching our hearts. That's why we say "the show must go on"—movies will always be a part of our lives.

B. To show that movies are a huge business.
C. To show that the movie business has a long history.
D. To show that the movie business has a bright future.
43.Which of the following ideas may the writer agree with?
A. Private islands are great places to make movies.
B. Most movies can make a lot of money at the box office.
C. Directors are the most important people in making a movie.
D. A good movie needs a lot of people’s hard work.
44.What does the sentence "the show must go on" probably mean in the passage?
A. Movie production should never stop.
B. People must keep going to movie theaters.
C. Movies will continue to be important in our lives.
D. Actors should continue to perform even when facing difficulties.
45.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?

Dr. Chip Taylor teaches biology at a university in the United States. He studies one kind of North American butterfly. During the late summer or autumn, this butterfly travels from Northern USA and Southern Canada to Mexico, covering thousands of miles. Fantastic facts about the butterfly have been drawing Dr. Taylor’s attention.
In Mexico, the butterflies always return to the same small piece of forest, which is only 20 kilometers wide. Here, as many as 230 million butterflies spend the winter. They cover some trees almost completely. The butterflies that return to the south are the great-great grandchildren of the butterflies that left for the north. When they begin to travel north in spring, the females lay eggs. They lay eggs on only one plant: milkweed.
But in Mexico, people cut down the trees that the butterflies need to rest on because they want more land for farming. In the United States and Canada, farmers use chemicals that kill milkweed. This worries Dr. Taylor a lot.
Now things are improving. Mexico has begun to protect parts of its forests. The United States and Canada have encouraged farmers to use fewer chemicals.
Scientists still don’t understand how the butterflies know when to fly south. If they are even a few days late, they will freeze. And how do all the great-great grandchildren find the same forest in Mexico every year? This is both confusing and interesting for many scientists.
There are many enigmas yet to be discovered by those interested in science. Would you like to study biology?

We’ve all been there — sitting at a desk, reading a textbook, and hoping to remember what we learn. Many students ask, “ 51 ” So, why don’t we look at what memory experts say about this?
Every student knows it’s useful to review what they’ve studied before. 52 Experts say waiting a little time before studying again. It can help you learn things better. If you forget something a little and then try to remember it, you’ll keep it in mind longer. Similarly, studies show that a short break after studying may help you remember things better later. 53 No one is really sure. Some people think it has to do with how our short-term memory turns into long-term memory.
Another easy tip is to change between different topics when you study. 54 For example, you can study math for 20 minutes, then change to English for another 20 minutes. This is a good way to remember things. Former world memory champion (冠军) Jonathan Hancock says,“Put information in different places or connect it to funny pictures, and you’ll remember it more easily.”
55 Hancock says keeping your things tidy helps your brain work better. Other experts also suggest getting enough sleep and doing sports often. The good news is that even though it takes time, we can all get better at remembering things if we try!

The Power of AI in Helping Students Learn
In today’s changing world, artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming an important part of education. It helps students learn better through smart programs. This article explains that AI is useful in subjects like English, math, and science, making learning personal, fun, and effective.
First, AI lets students learn at their own speed. Traditional classes often move at one speed, leaving some students behind. But AI tools, like language learning apps, can change to fit each student’s level. For example, if a ninth grader struggles with grammar, an AI tutor can give simple exercises and explain rules step by step. This way, no one feels lost. Studies show personalized learning improves understanding by up to 30%.
Second, AI makes learning more fun. Imagine practicing English words through a game instead of just reading. AI creates interesting quizzes, videos, and stories related to the lesson. In China, many students use apps like Duolingo for homework. These tools use pictures, sounds, and rewards to keep students interested. Without fun, learning feels like hard work, but AI turns it into an exciting experience, helping students remember more and stay motivated.
Some worry AI might replace teachers, but that’s not true. AI is like an assistant, not a full teacher. Human teachers give advice, encouragement, and real-life examples that machines cannot. AI simply supports them by handling repeated tasks, like checking homework quickly. Together, they make education stronger.
In conclusion, AI-assisted learning is the future. It personalizes lessons, adds fun, and helps students succeed without replacing teachers. Schools and students should welcome AI to build better skills for tomorrow. By using AI wisely, ninth graders can improve their English and more, opening doors to new chances. Let’s welcome this smart helper into our classrooms!

The "Weekend Kitchen" Activity
I’m Li Hua. Our school recently started the "Weekend Kitchen" activity to encourage us to experience the joy of hard work and show our thanks to our families.
I decided to cook fish. First, I cleaned the fish and added some salt. After letting it sit for an hour, I fried it over high heat. Soon, the kitchen was filled with a wonderful smell. In the end, my parents tried it, patted my head gently, and praised me warmly.
This experience taught me that cooking is not just an act of preparing food, but also a way to show love.

My name is Carter. I used to work in a big city and I was really busy. I had to get up at five thirty every morning. It took me about two hours to get to work by underground. I had a lot of work to do. My family seldom saw me on weekdays. Then last year, I went to visit my old friend Luke by car. Luke lived in a small village, grew many green vegetables and owned a small vegetable shop. He ate the vegetables he grew and I thought,“Wow, his life is much healthier and more peaceful than mine.” So I decided to give up my job and move to the countryside. Now I live on a farm and I have some cows, sheep and pigs. I give guitar lessons online and I also plan to take up the piano.
