Last term, I joined the art club at school. I was super excited as I really loved painting. But right away, I faced a big problem. The teacher asked us to paint an outdoor scene with oil paints, and I’d never used them before.
At first, I thought it would be easy. I put paints on a small plate and started mixing. However, the oil paint was thick and sticky. It was really difficult to spread it neatly on the big white paper. All my efforts ended up in a mess. The colours I mixed were off. From an early age, I began to like Chinese culture a lot. When there was a chance to study in Beijing as an exchange student, I took it at once. In my first 24 hours in Beijing, I felt very nervous. I didn’t see one foreigner. But on my first day of school, I was greeted by many foreign faces. The students came from all over the world. I would be in a class with chelsea from Norway and charlie from my motherland—the Uk.

The school art festival is an exciting event that takes place every year at sunshine Middle school. This year’s art festival was held last week and it was full of wonderful performances and amazing artworks.
The opening ceremony started with a dance show by the school dance club. The students showed their great dancing skills with colorful costumes. After that, there was a singing competition. Many students joined the competition and their sweet voices filled the school hall.

My favourite place in my school is the library.

Our school library is on the second floor of the teaching building. It is bright and quiet, with shelves full of books of different kinds, such as storybooks, science books, and magazines.
The library has helped me a lot. I often read there after class, which improves my reading skills and broadens my knowledge. It is also a perfect place to study and do homework. To give back, I want to volunteer in the library, helping to organize books and keep it clean. I also plan to donate some interesting books to share with others.
I love our school library and hope it becomes even better!
