A Natural Wonder in Danger
The Great Barrier Reef, located off the northeastern coast of Australia, is the largest coral reef system on Earth. Running for over 2,300 kilometers, it is home to thousands of species, including vibrant fish, sea turtles, and sharks. This natural wonder not only supports different marine life but also plays an important role in the global ecosystem. However, the reef is facing serious dangers due to human activities and environmental changes.
One of the most serious dangers is coral bleaching(褪色), which happens when the water becomes too warm due to climate change. The rise in sea temperatures makes the coral push out the plants living inside it, causing the coral to lose its bright colors and turn white. If the water temperature remains high, the coral may finally die. Pollution and too much fishing also help to harm the reef, putting its weak ecosystem in more danger.
To protect the Great Barrier Reef, different groups are trying to lower pollution, fight climate change, and promote safe fishing methods. It is very important to let people around the world know how valuable the reef is for its survival, as it helps both sea life and people's living environment.
5. What is the main reason for coral bleaching?
A. Too much fishing B. Pollution

Project-Based Learning at Our School
Last month, our school started a new project-based learning (PBL) program to help students learn in a more hands-on way. Instead of listening to lectures, students from all grades worked together on group projects. These projects focused on solving real-world problems and gave students the chance to use what they learned in class.
One group of ninth graders worked on a project to reduce plastic waste in the school dinning hall. They researched how much plastic was used, spoke with staff members, and came up with a plan to use reusable containers and improve recycling. Their project was praised for being both creative and useful. Another group of students made a video about the history of the local town, where they interviewed older residents and collected photos to show the town's past.
Project-based learning encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and creative thinking. Students were excited to work on meaningful projects and apply their knowledge to real-life situations. This new way of learning was a big success, and many students are looking forward to future projects that will help them learn even more.
