①Read the passage again and answer the questions. Each of the five try to answer one of the five questions in 2c.
②Then discuss their answers and check the answers in class.
4.Finish the task in 2d
①Discuss the reading strategy of the unit. Explain idioms and phrases and how important they are in learning. Read aloud the first paragraph and get the students to find the idioms and phrases.
②Students read the rest of the passage. Find the idioms and phrases. Learn the new words and idioms.
③Finish the task in 2d. Discuss in pairs and then replace the underlined parts with the phrases they find.
5.Finish the task in 2e
①Read aloud the passage once again. One student reads the aside words, boys read the father's words and girls read Peter's.
②Students work in groups.

In the reading period,the most important thing is telling the students how to read and learn the new items in it. It is a good time to train the students' ability of reading quickly and efficiently. We do this practice again and again.At every reading step,students learn to deal with one task. They should learn to catch the main and the most important ideas as quickly as they can. They must learn to use some new words and new language items. Idioms and phrases are important in English learning. They are supposed to remember them and make sentences with these idioms or replace some other words.
After reading,we get the students to role-play the conversation. In this way, students will practice more and learn easily.

Step1 情景导入
1.教师引入课题。
Last week, we learned Part I of The Shirt of a Happy Man. We didn’t know the ending of the story. Who can tell me the ending of the story?
2.学生给出不同的结果,让学生练习口语。教师给学生鼓励,尽量让更多的人开口讲出故事的结尾。
环节说明:让学生猜故事的结尾,目的是让学生练习口语,激起学生对故事结尾的兴趣,为下面的听力环节打好基础,引起学生的注意。

1.让学生读1a中的有关故事结尾的句子,完成 1a任务。
2.学生写出自己想到的故事结尾,和同伴讨论,到底故事的结尾是什么。
3.听第一遍录音,完成课本上1c的任务。
4.听第二遍录音,完成课本上1d的任务。
5.听录音并跟读独白及对话。
6.小组讨论有关穷人快乐的观点。
7.根据所听内容,进行角色扮演,教师给予学生鼓励帮助,必要时再听录音。
