Is losing weight an important health goal?
Advertisements, pop culture and even some doctors tell us that smaller bodies are healthier, and larger bodies must be unhealthy. However, health and weight are not one and the same, according to Dr. Janet Wess, a health expert who raised her concern in a recent medical report.
We often place a lot of importance on a person's figure when judging their health. However, we can't take a look at a person's body and judge their condition. People with a higher weight often have more chances of heart disease, but we can't say that the weight causes the heart problems. People in smaller bodies can have heart disease too, while many people in larger bodies are very healthy. Maybe it is time to untangle health and weight. They are not as closely related as we thought.
What does it mean to be healthy anyway? And can eating less help you get there? Weight loss doesn't equal happiness, and it doesn't mean that you'll surely get healthy. Reducing what you eat keeps you from enjoying time with friends and family, which hurts your mental health. For most people, eating less food to lose weight doesn't work. More than 80% of people who lost weight regained it within two years.
Health comes from many things, such as keeping a good state of mind, having active social networks, getting enough sleep and reducing stress. What do we focus on if we want to get healthy without losing weight? According to Dr. Wess, we should focus on healthy behaviors like stopping smoking, exercising more, sleeping better, stressing less and eating healthy foods.
Not focusing on the weight means that we can really focus more on behaviors that improve our health. We may lose weight as a result, but that isn't the goal.
1.What is Dr. Wess' major concern in the medical report?
A.Unhealthy life habits.
B.Pop culture in advertisements.
C.Wrong ideas about body weight.
D.Health problems of larger bodies.
2.What does the underlined word “untangle” in paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Separate. B.Understand.
C.Balance. D.Measure.
3.What will possibly be affected if we eat less food according to paragraph 3?
A.Friendship. B.Mental health.
C.Family relation. D.Social networks.
4.What is Dr. Wess' suggestion on staying healthy?
A.Close eyes to stress.
B.Develop healthy habits.
C.Eat plenty of vegetables.
D.Set a goal of losing weight.

Overtourism Is For Real:
How Can You Help?
Travel promotes understanding, expands our minds, makes us better people, and boosts local economies and communities, but the rapid growth of travel has led to overtourism in certain regions and destinations.__1__ Certainly not.The loss of what travel offers would be unacceptable in today's world. Here are some tips on making wise decisions to minimize pressure on the places we visit and improve our experience.
●Choose mindfully.Overvisited destinations are that way for a reason:they're special. With so many online posts featuring the same places,it's easy to feel like you're missing out.Go somewhere only when the landscape, culture or food deeply draws you.__2__
●Get creative. The best way to ease pressure on overtouristed destinations is to go somewhere else. Though overtourism is described as a problem affecting the entire world,it's actually concentrated to a small number of extremely popular spots. That means you have tons of lessvisited options to choose from.__3__ Why not try a regional alternative or check out a popular destination's lesserknown sights?
●__4__ Minimize impact and maximize experience by skipping major holidays or rush hour. You'll compete with fewer tourists, save money, experience a different side of a popular place, and boost the economy when tourism is traditionally slower.
Visiting a place that others call home is a privilege (荣幸).Do your part to preserve what makes a destination special in the first place.__5__ You may be amazed how much closer you'll feel to the people there.
A.Visit during offpeak times.
B.So,should we stop traveling?
C.Travel for you and no one else.
D.Can overtourism be avoided then?
E.You can still find relatively undiscovered places.
F.You'll find yourself virtually alone,or close to it.
G.Consider giving back to the communities you're visiting.

根据第二段“We often place a lot of...as we thought.”
根据第二段中的“People in smaller bodies can have heart disease too, while many people in larger bodies are very healthy.”以及画线词后文“They are not as closely related as we thought.” 故选A。
根据第三段中“Reducing what you eat keeps you from enjoying time with friends and family, which hurts your mental health.”
根据倒数第二段中“According to Dr. Wess, we should focus on...and eating healthy foods.”
1.B 根据空前的“but the rapid growth of travel has led to overtourism in certain regions and destinations”可知,旅游快速增长导致某些地区和目的地的过度旅游。 The loss of what travel offers would be unacceptable in today's world.”
3.E 根据空前的“Though overtourism is described as a problem...to choose from.” 空后的“Why not try a regional alternative or check out a popular destination's lesserknown sights?”
根据本段中的“skipping major holidays or rush hour”,“boost the economy when tourism is traditionally slower”可知,本段建议跳过重大假期或高峰时间旅行。 故选A。
5.G 根据空前的“Do your part to preserve...in the first place.”可知,尽自己所能去保护旅游地,再根据空后的“You may be amazed how much closer you'll feel to the people there.”
Ⅰ.1.cooked us a delicious dinner 2.caught a glimpse of me
3.listening carefully to her telling interesting stories
4.spent the night listening to the frogs and water rolling down the river nearby
Ⅱ.His wife Tina cooked us a delicious dinner and his son Ryan caught a glimpse of me smiling. We sat around the table together, listening carefully to her telling interesting stories.
