A In an interview, Naveen Jain, founder of a space exploration company called Moon Express, says that he believes moon travel is just a decade away. And his company, which is the first private firm to get approval from the US government to carry out the project of moon travel, wants to play a role in helping people get to the moon surface. Many people in the technological and scientific communities are crazy about space exploration.Space presents an unprecedented (史无前例的) number of chances for scientific and human advancement. Companies, big and small, are determining how they can create technologies that will allow people to explore space, the moon, and even Mars. Other companies are finding ways to play a role in space travel. The key of that gold rush has been the declining cost of actually getting to space. Jain says that while it once cost billions of dollars to go to the moon, his company's unmanned space flight next year will cost just $ 7 million. As costs continue to decline (减少), he believes that within the next decade, getting to the moon will cost just $10,000. Better yet, it'll take just four hours to get there. Still, Mars_is_the_final_prize. And even Jain, whose company will focus on moon travel, says that “Mars is certainly the final destination”. When asked if he'd like to stage space fights to Mars, Jain says “of course”, adding that he believes Moon Express could partner with Elon Musk's SpaceX to make that happen. “Elon will build the rocket and we will do the travelers,” Jain says. “Generally, he will lay the cables and we will do the last mile.” SpaceX and Musk have not said whether they would work alongside Jain and Moon Express. Either way, it looks like hopping from the moon to Mars (and back) might be just a part of our lives. 1.What does the author mean by saying “Mars is the final prize” ? A.Mars is the final destination difficult but valuable to reach. B.Mars is the final destination expensive but easy to reach. C.Mars is the first destination to choose for space travelers. D.Mars is the last destination to choose for space travelers. A 2.What can we learn from the passage ? A.Moon Express is certainly an ideal partner for SpaceX. B.SpaceX hasn't decided to cooperate with Moon Express. C.Moon Express and SpaceX used to be close partners. D.SpaceX has been successful in moon travel exploration. SpaceX and Musk have not said whether they would work alongside Jain and Moon Express”可知.SpaceX还没有决定是否要和Moon Express合作。 答案 B 3.Which section of newspaper is the passage taken from possibly? A.Entertainment. B.Education. C.Technology. D.Literature. C B The ringed planet Saturn has 53 known moons. And another one may be on the way. NASA's CassiniHuyens space probe has spotted(发现)a small shape in Saturn's outermost ring. It suggests the existence of a new moon. The moon has not been directly spotted yet, but scientists have already given it a nickname—Peggy. The probe's findings were published in the journal Icarus. Casssini has been observing the ringed planet and its surroundings since 2004. Saturn is a big and powerful world. With a diameter of 74,732 miles, it is 9.5 times the size of Earth. It spins very quickly, and takes only 11 hours to spin fully on its axis (轴). The planet is located about 885.9 million miles from the sun and has an average temperature of285 degrees Fahrenheit. Peggy will be joining a large community. Saturn has thousands of rings. The outermost ring, called the A Ring, is the largest and brightest. It measures 750 miles long and 6 miles wide. Saturn's rings are made up of rock, dust and ice, and are constantly gathering space matter. As this material gathers and clumps together, moons are born. If Peggy is a new moon, it is also a tiny one, measuring only 0. 5 miles in diameter. But there is no telling how big this baby will grow over time. “We've never seen anything like this before,” said astronomer Carl Murray in a statement . He is the lead author of the Icarus report. “We may be looking at an act of birth, where this object is leaving the rings and heading off to be a moon in its own right.” Once that happens, it will be given a formal name. However, this mini moon may be one of Saturn's last moons. The formation of all its moons, new and old,big and small, has used up much of the rings' raw material. After 4.5 billion years, Saturn may have finally revealed all its babies. 4.Which of the following is TRUE about Saturn? A.It has hundreds of rings. B.It is much bigger than Earth. C.It moves as quickly as Earth. D.Its 53rd known moon is called Peggy. 根据第二段中“With a diameter of 74,732 miles,it is 9.5 times the size of Earth.” B 5.What does the underlined word “It”in Paragraph 3 refer to? A.Saturn's biggest moon. B.Saturn's innermost ring. C.Saturn's outermost ring. D.Saturn's new moon Peggy. 根据第三段“The outermost ring, called the A Ring,is the largest and brightest.” C 6.We can infer from Paragraph 4 that ________. A.Peggy may disappear soon B.Peggy may grow bigger and bigger C.Peggy will have its own moon soon D.Peggy is the new moon's formal name 根据第四段中“But there is no telling how big this baby will grow over time,”可知,Peggy可能会变得越来越大,故选B项。 答案 B 7.According to the last paragraph,________ A.Saturn will have more and more moons B.Saturn's rings will have more and more material C.Saturn's rings may disappear in 4.5 billion years D.Saturn won't have too many moons younger than Peggy 根据最后一段第一句“However, this mini moon may be one of Saturn’s last moons.” Located in a natural depression in Guizhou, China's Fivehundredmetre Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope, 1.________(know) as FAST, has identified six pulsars (脉冲星) after one year of trial operation. It is the first time Chinese scientists have discovered pulsars using a radio telescope independently developed by Chinese scientists, thus 2.________ (open) a “new era of Chinese original space discovery”. 答案 was discovered 4. 内”用in/within。 答案 in/within 5. 表示“允许某人做某事”用allow sb. to do sth.。 答案 to find 6. 答案 which 8. 答案 a 9. 根据时间状语the next 10 to 20 years可知,句子用一般将来时,所以填will remain。 答案 will remain Ⅲ. 请你围绕“Is it necessary for a middle school student to carry a mobile phone?” 参考词汇:方便的convenient;电波辐射the electric wave radiation Nowadays mobile phones are becoming more and more popular in China.________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ [参考范文] Nowadays_mobile_phones_are_becoming_more_and_more_popular_in_China.Sometimes you can even see students using them. Mobile phones have brought people a lot of convenience. If there is a sudden accident at school,it is much quicker for us to dial for help. However, mobile phones can also bring people problems. The most serious is that when we are having a lesson, the ring of the mobile phone may interrupt us.What's more, students may spend a lot of time playing games in the mobile phone as well as sending short messages. In my opinion,it is not necessary for us students to carry a mobile phone at school. Live in the present moment To a large degree, the measure of our peace of mind is determined by how much we are able to live in the present moment. Irrelevant to what happened yesterday, and what may or may not happen tomorrow. Without question, many of us have mastered the art of spending much of our lives worrying about a variety of things. We allow past problems to dominate our present moments so much that we end up anxious, frustrated, depressed and hopeless. We have concern over events that might happen in the future-we won't have enough money, our children will get into trouble, we will get old and die, whatever. We also postpone our gratification, our priorities and happiness, often convincing ourselves that “someday” will be better than today. Unfortunately, that “someday” never arrives. Life is what's happening while we're busy making other plans. When we're busy making other plans, our children are busy growing up, the people we love are moving away and dying, our bodies are getting out of shape, and our dreams are slipping away. Many people live as if life was a dress rehearsal for some later date. It isn't. In fact, no one has a guarantee that he or she will be here tomorrow. Now is the only time we have, and the only time we have any control over. When our attention is in the present moment, we push problems and fear from our minds. The best strategy to improve our wellbeing is to learn to bring your attention back to the present. Mark Twain said, “I have been through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened. I don't think I can say it any better. Practice keeping your attention on the here and now. Your efforts will pay off.” ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ [参考范文] Living in the present moment is important.(要点1) However, we always waste precious moment worrying about what we have no control over, missing out on life by hoping for a better future which never comes.(要点2) Since we can't control the past and the future, care for those around us and focus on things at present.(要点3)That improves happiness.(要点4) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
