【原文】
I recently started a new job in a small office. There were three workmates sharing a fridge with me. In that fridge was a water processing machine. I could drink the water without any trouble, but one of them was shocked. She always said that the water tasted dirty. It went on for a few days. I started to doubt my taste, but the water really tasted fine. Finally, she found that the problem was actually her cup. She simply forgot to clean it, and after a while, the cup started to influence the water inside it. She cleaned her cup and drank the water with no problem. I can’t help thinking about the world we live in. When we meet problems in our life, we always choose to believe it’s others’ fault, but not ours, because we make the decision without thinking twice. We just always say “You’re too slow. You’re the problem.” The world isn’t perfect, but I think we should take a step back sometimes and ask ourselves some difficult questions: Can I be better? Is my heart really simple? Can I help improve the situation with kindness? I want to tell you this: Please clean your cup, because when you do it, the water will taste much better.

Xiangqi, or Chinese chess, is a strategy board game for two players. With a history of over 2,000 years, it is the most popular board game in China.
The game shows a fight between two armies. Chuhe hanjie, which refers to the Chu-Han War, divides the board into two sides. The main goal is catching the enemy’s general. It is played on a board with nine vertical lines (纵线) and ten horizontal lines (横线). The pieces are put on the intersections (交叉点).
Each player controls 16 pieces. The pieces are flat, round disks with a Chinese character on them. To distinguish between pieces of the two sides, one player uses red pieces and the other uses black ones. The black characters are a little different from the corresponding (对应的) red ones. The oldest xiangqi piece found is a chariot (ju) piece. It is kept in the Three Gorges Museum, showing how the game has been loved and passed down for centuries.

It’s made to believe,
Women are the same as Men;
Are you not convinced,
Daughters can also be heroic?
This is a poem written by Wang Zhenyi. As a pioneering woman in many fields, including science, maths, geography, literature, archery, horseback riding, and medicine, she lived a short but colorful life.
Back in the Qing Dynasty, women were not allowed to have an education. However, being a girl full of curiosity, Wang Zhenyi tried to teach herself to explore the world. Her family also supported her. Her grandfather shared with her a good collection of books and the basic rules of astronomy while her father taught her maths.
At 16, Wang continued to study on her own. Sometimes she felt upset when she didn’t understand some ideas. But she said, “I won’t give up because I love the subject so much.”
Wang Zhenyi believed that science should be spread to more than just the well-educated. The more people learned about the world, the bigger progress the society would achieve. At that time, people believed natural events such as eclipses (日月食) were the signs of gods’ anger. Wang decided to create a model to explain how it happened. A lunar eclipse happens when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon in a straight line (Sun—Earth—Moon). Earth blocks the Sun’s light from reaching the Moon, and the Moon moves into Earth’s shadow. Wang used a light as the Sun, a mirror as the Moon and a round table as the Earth. By moving the objects around, she was able to explain how a lunar eclipse appeared. She spent years working on the difficult scientific rules and laws and explained them in simple language for readers.
Sadly, Wang died of a disease at 29. Worse still, most of her works have become lost, including six books on maths and astronomy. Although Wang lived in the old times, she believed a woman could develop her talents to the fullest. She is a role model to girls today. In 1994, the International Astronomical Union recognized her bright spirit by naming a crater (陨石坑) on Venus after her.
46.What do we know about Wang Zhenyi’s learning?
A.She received an excellent school education.
B.She learned maths to support her family.
C.She found it easy to understand science.
D.She was taught by her family and also taught herself.
47.Why did Wang Zhenyi do the experiment?
A.To study the universe.
B.To record it in her book.
C.To help people understand nature.
D.To carry out scientific research.
48.Which picture of Wang’s experiment shows the lunar eclipse?
A. B. C. D.

Take charge of your day
“Executive function” refers to skills that help you solve problems, use time wisely, and make clever choices. It can also help you feel more in control about the things you need to do. 50
Take small steps
For many people, just getting started is the hardest step. 51 For example, if your challenge is a messy room, gather the empty glasses and put them in the dishwasher. Your room probably looks a little better already!
Pair tasks with something fun
If you have to complete a task that you’re not excited about, make it more enjoyable by doing it with something you do like. 52 You can also find a partner, like calling a friend and cleaning out your backpacks together.
Personalize your organization
The best “system” that will help you stay organized is the one that works for you. Writing down your checklist each day is a good way. 53
Be kind to yourself
Learning executive function skills takes practice. If you forget or lose something, speak kindly to yourself the way you might to a friend who made a mistake. 54 You may feel silly at first but it will cheer you up.
A.For example, play music while you do the dishes.
B.Here’s how to improve your executive function skills to get more done.

第II卷(非选择题)
Ⅴ. 读写题(本题共分两节,共计15分)
第一节(每空一词,每题1分,共6分)
People have been using the wind’s energy for a long time. More than 5,000 years ago, ancient Egyptians made wind powered boats. In 200 B.C., people started to use windmills (风车) in China.
Today, we collect the wind’s energy with wind turbines (涡轮机). A turbine is a very tall tower with two or three blades (叶片) at the top. These blades are turned by the wind. The blades turn a generator (发电机) located inside the tower, which creates power.
Groups of wind turbines are known as wind farms. Wind farms can be found near farmland and in the ocean because there are stronger winds. Wind farms create power for nearby homes, schools and other buildings.
In places like the Midwest and along coasts, winds can provide cheap power. Another great advantage of wind power is that it is a kind of clean energy. Wind turbines do not burn oil or coal and do not cause air pollution.
Wind is not always an ideal (理想的) source of energy, however. Wind speed changes from time to time, depending on the time of day, weather and location. Wind turbines can be also dangerous for some birds. They cannot always tell how fast the blades are moving and crash into them.
60.阅读短文,根据语篇内容,在方框内的缩写文章中,填入与短文意思最符合的单词,每空一词。

In 1938, he entered Southwest Associated University and studied under Wu Dayou and Wang Zhuxi. In 1945, he went to the US to study. After getting his doctorate (博士学位) at the University of Chicago, he started his academic (学术的) career for further study.
Yang made three great academic achievements. Yang and his partners won the 1957 Nobel Prize in Physics. He became the first Chinese to get this honor.
Though he was abroad, Yang cared about his motherland. In 1971, he became the first overseas Chinese scientist to visit China. When he met Deng Jiaxian and learned that China developed atomic bombs (原子弹) independently, he cried. Back in the US, he set up an education exchange committee (教育交流委员会) to sponsor nearly 100 Chinese students to study in the US. Later, he started the Qiushi Science Fund.
In 2003, Yang settled (定居) in Tsinghua Garden and named his home “Gui Gen Ju” (meaning “returning to the root”). He gave away his savings and raised money to bring top talents like Yao Qizhi to China. In 2015, he gave up US citizenship and joined the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2021, he gave away over 2,000 materials to set up a reference room.

________ Elders play it in parks to make friends and chat. Families play it to spend happy time together. Parents teach kids, and they talk and laugh happily during the game. Playing xiangqi also helps you learn useful skills: you need to plan ahead, guess what the other player will do, and stay calm when things are hard. It’s made to believe,
Women are the same as Men;
Are you not convinced,
Daughters can also be heroic?

A.To study the universe.
B.To record it in her book.
C.To help people understand nature.
D.To carry out scientific research.

Take charge of your day
“Executive function” refers to skills that help you solve problems, use time wisely, and make clever choices. It can also help you feel more in control about the things you need to do. 50
