英语是一种节奏较强的语言,英语句子中有的词重读,有的词不重读。英语单词中有重读音节和非重读音节,重读和非重读音节在句子中形成一强一弱或一重一轻的变化,这样就形成了英语的节奏。例如:

在句子中,有的单词重读,有的不重读,那些比较重要的词保留着重读,这些重读音就叫句子重音。
一般情况下,如名词、动词、形容词、副词、数词等在句中要重读,如介词、冠词、连词、人称代词、情态动词肯定式等不重读,这样就形成了以句子为单位的词的轻重交替。英语句子按“词的相对重要性”形成“句子重音”。
