读后续写范文:
One possible version:
Paragraph 1: Eventually, curiosity got the better of me, and I opened it. Inside was a handwritten note and a gift card to a local coffee shop. The note read, “Thank you for keeping our monument beautiful. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.” I was deeply touched. It wasn’t pity — it was gratitude. Someone saw me not as a charity case, but as a contributor. I stood there, holding the envelope, feeling a warmth spread through me. The whispers and stares suddenly didn’t matter anymore.
Paragraph 2: Inspired and determined, I followed my usual routine the next morning. But this time, I walked with a lighter heart and a stronger purpose. I realized that even the smallest act of kindness — or cleanliness — could ripple out in ways I never expected. I continued picking up trash, not for recognition, but because it was right. And whenever I felt doubtful, I remembered that envelope — a quiet reminder that goodness exists, often in the most unexpected places.

When it comes to cooling the planet, tropical forests serve as “carbon sinks” — their trees absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air. Now, a new study finds one Australian rainforest is doing the opposite.
The research, published in Nature, analyzed data from wet tropical rainforests in Australia, which scientists had tracked for nearly 50 years. By examining woody biomass from the rainforest, which typically holds a large amount of carbon, researchers found the forest is releasing more carbon than it absorbs, and this switch happened about 25 years ago.
Since trees release stored carbon back into the atmosphere when they die and break down, this shift indicates that trees in this Australian rainforest are dying faster than they were decades ago, said lead author Hannah Carle, a forest ecosystem researcher at Western Sydney University. Drier air, higher temperatures and water shortages might all play a role. This is the first rainforest recorded as switching from a carbon sink to a carbon source, and Carle added the phenomenon could reflect a declining ecosystem in Australian wet rainforests overall.
“The wet tropics in Australia occupy a bit of a warmer, drier climate space than tropical forests on other continents, thus potentially serving as an analog for what tropical forests will experience in other parts of the world,” said Carle. Previous research suggested that tropical rainforests increase their capacity for carbon storage in response to consistently increasing CO2 in the atmosphere. This half-century of data challenges that.
Raphael Trouve, who researches forest dynamics at the University of Melbourne in Australia and was not involved in the study, told The Guardian that data sets like this one can help track changes in the climate and environment. “It allows us to put the theory up against reality and better understand how these systems work.”
24.Which aspect of the Australian rainforest does the research focus on?
A.The makeup of woody biomass. B.The effects on climate change.
C.The level of carbon concentration. D.The change in carbon balance.
25.What does the shift in paragraph 3 show?
A.Rising tree death rates. B.Stable weather patterns.
C.Modest tropical rainfall. D.Instant ecosystem collapse
26.What does the underlined word “analog” in paragraph 4 mean?
A.Different model. B.Sustainable system.
C.Similar example. D.Historical background.
27.How does Raphael Trouve view these long-term data sets?
A.They provide insights into the truth.
B.They offer solutions to climate change.
C.They are consistent with popular beliefs.
D.They are independent of historical data.

In the summers of 2018 and 2019, ecologist James Ryalls and his colleagues would go out to a field near Reading in southern England to stare at the insects flying around black mustard plants. Each time a bee, moth, butterfly or other insect tried to get at the pollen (花粉) in the small yellow flowers, they’d make a note.
It was part of an unusual experiment. Some plots of mustard plants were surrounded by pipes that released ozone and nitrogen oxides — polluting gases produced around power plants and conventional cars. Other plots had pipes releasing normal air.
The results shocked the scientists. Plants covered by pollutants were visited by up to 70 percent fewer insects overall, and their flowers received 90 percent fewer visits compared with those in unpolluted plots. “We didn’t expect it to be quite as dramatic as that,” says study coauthor Robbie Girling, an entomologist at the University of Southern Queensland in Australia.
A growing body of research suggests that pollution can disturb insect attraction to plants — at a time when many insect populations are already suffering deep declines due to agricultural chemicals, habitat loss and climate change. Around 75 percent of wild flowering plants and around 35 percent of food crops rely on animals to move pollen around, so that plants can fertilize one another and form seeds. The black mustard plants used in the experiment exhibited a drop of 14 percent to 31 percent in successful pollination (授粉) as measured by the number of seedpods, seeds per pod and seedpod weight from plants surrounded by dirty air.
“This research is still young,” says Jeff Riffell, a neuroscientist at the University of Washington. “We’re only touching the tip of the iceberg in terms of how these effects are influencing these insects. We’ll work out how strong and widespread these effects of pollution are, and how they operate.”
28.What does the author describe in Paragraph 1?
A.The harmony of plants and bees. B.The vast biodiversity in the fields.
C.The procedure of an experiment. D.The cooperation among ecologists.
29.Why is the data used in Paragraph 3 and Paragraph 4?
A.To show the bad effects of pollution. B.To praise ecologists’ efforts.
C.To contrast with the previous results. D.To criticize an accepted fact.
30.Which aspect of the research does Jeff Riffell talk about?
A.The achievement. B.The direction. C.The method. D.The application.
31.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Pollutants Influence Power Plants
B.Air Pollution is Bad for Pollination
C.Ecologists Work to Protect Insects
D.Poisonous Gases Threaten Humans

In Canada, it often feels as though the year is divided into just two seasons: winter and construction. From repairing sidewalks and roadways to building houses and apartments, nearly all of this work relies on cement (水泥), the essential material in concrete.
However, producing cement has a major environmental impact, accounting for roughly eight to ten percent of global greenhouse gas (GHG) release. Researchers at the University of Saskatchewan’s (USask) College of Engineering are investigating whether part of the cement used in concrete could be replaced with biochar (生物炭) to create a more sustainable alternative.
Biochar is a fine, carbon-rich material made by burning plant waste in low oxygen. “We reuse agricultural plant wastes like dry grass or crops,” says USask PhD student Ravi Patel. “Normally, this waste is left in fields.” Besides cutting cement use, biochar traps carbon from plants. Patel’s team tested how biochar affects concrete's strength and durability.
The researchers mixed concrete with different biochar amounts, and first tested samples for real-world stress and wear. Afterward, they analyzed the material’s microstructure at USask’s Canadian Light Source. Their results showed that biochar-enhanced concrete was stronger and less porous (多孔的) than concrete made with higher amounts of cement.
Next, the team will assess how well the biochar-enhanced concrete performs over the longer term. “In our research, we have studied the new concrete for 56 days,” says Patel. “But we need to check this concrete strength after 1 — 2 years, because the structures are going to stay here for 50 — 70 years. We need to understand the long-term behavior of how the biochar helps to improve the strength properties.”
The project could lead to several improvements in the construction industry: concrete production could be more environmentally friendly, using plant waste that otherwise would go to the landfill, and help concrete last longer. “As a researcher, we want to give back to our society, our environment,” says Patel. “It feels really good to get a positive result so that we can actually help address climate change.”
32.Why does the author mention “two seasons” in Canada?
A.To describe climate features.
B.To stress high cement demand.
C.To show environmental issues.
D.To explain seasonal changes.
33.What does Patel’s team discover through the test?
A.High biochar reduces concrete durability.
B.Concrete with more cement is less porous.
C.Biochar improves concrete’s strength.
D.More cement makes concrete work better.
34.What will the researchers do next?
A.Reduce the cost of biochar production.
B.Promote the new concrete in construction.
C.Attempt other uses of plant waste materials.
D.Study the new concrete’s long-term performance.
35.What is the main value of the research project?
A.It saves energy in construction. B.It solves seasonal construction limits.
C.It helps handle construction waste. D.It offers a more sustainable solution.

Our school launched a “Low-Carbon Campus” initiative last year, inspired by the national call for ecological protection. As a member of the student volunteer team, I witnessed how small changes can 41 a big difference to the environment.
The project began with a 42 : our campus consumed too much electricity and produced a lot of waste. We first conducted a survey to 43 the main sources of energy waste — old lighting systems, improper garbage sorting, and excessive use of disposable products. Based on the results, we 44 practical solutions: installing solar-powered lights, setting up classified waste bins, and promoting reusable tableware in the cafeteria.
At first, some students were 45 to change their habits. They thought the new rules were inconvenient and unnecessary. However, we didn’t give up. We created posters to explain the 46 of low-carbon life, held lectures with environmental experts, and shared interesting facts about sustainability on the school website. Gradually, more and more students 47 the initiative. They started bringing their own water bottles, sorting garbage carefully, and turning off lights when leaving classrooms.
We also faced technical 48 . The solar lights sometimes failed to work on cloudy days, and some waste bins were often misused. With the help of our physics teacher, we adjusted the light sensors to improve their 49 . We also added clear labels and student volunteers to guide everyone in proper waste sorting. These small 50 made the project run more smoothly.
After one year, the 51 were remarkable. Our campus electricity consumption dropped by 23%, and waste recycling rate increased to 45%. More importantly, the concept of low-carbon living has deeply 52 into every student’s mind. Many families even joined our efforts, reducing plastic use and saving energy at home.
This experience taught me that environmental protection is not a solo journey but a collective 53 . It requires patience, creativity, and teamwork to turn ideas into reality. As young people, we have the 54 to take action and contribute to a greener future. Every small step we take today will 55 to a more sustainable world tomorrow.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I never imagined I’d spend my mornings walking around the Washington Monument, with a trash bag in one hand and a grabber in the other. Yet, here I am. Each day, before the crowds arrive, I make my way there. Bottles, cigarette butts (烟头), plastic wrappers... it doesn’t matter. Actually I’ve seen messes far worse at other places, where the scattered (分散) litter everywhere really made me feel sick.
At first, being out there, keeping something iconic clean, gave me a sense of purpose. A clean environment not only keeps us healthy and in good spirits but also preserves ecological balance for all living beings. But it didn’t take long for me to notice the stare. Some people nodded, perhaps thinking it was admirable. Others? I’d catch them whispering, looking at me as if I were some pitiful charity case.
Last Tuesday, I overheard a man say, “Bet he’s doing community service or something.” His friend laughed quietly. I kept my head down. I wanted to turn around and explain exactly why I was there and what it meant to me. But I didn’t. I just kept going.
Then, this morning, something unexpected happened. There was an envelope under one of the benches I usually clear. No name, just the messy words “FOR YOU” on it. I stared at it, wondering if someone had left it intentionally… or if it was just more trash.
The first thought that crossed my mind was that maybe someone thought I was homeless. You know how people sometimes leave gift cards or a few dollars in an envelope for those they assume are struggling? I’m not homeless though I live in a modest studio apartment. I tried to shake it off, telling myself, “You won’t know what’s inside until you open it.”
I held the envelope for what felt like an eternity (永恒), scanning the park. There were the usual joggers and dog walkers, but no one seemed to be waiting for my reaction. Nobody was watching intently. It felt genuine — or maybe it was just random.

A group of students from a high school in chicago have invented a practical smart device to save water in school restaurants rooms. Tap water waste used to be a noticeable problem there, though no one did IT intentionally. Recently, the school has set up this student made device on all restaurant types. How does IT work? Dear Student Union,
I’m glad to learn our school will launch “No Plastic Day” and fully support this meaningful activity. Not only does it raise our awareness of environmental protection, but it also encourages us to take real action.
To reduce plastic use, I suggest that students bring reusable water bottles and cloth bags instead of using plastic ones. Besides, the school can organize a class competition to recognize the “Green Champion”, which would encourage more students to participate.
I truly hope this event will be a great success and inspire more eco-friendly habits in our daily lives.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
第二节(满分25分)
One possible version:
Eventually, curiosity got the better of me, and I opened it.
Inspired and determined, I followed my usual routine the next morning.

M: Do you have your umbrella with you? It is forecast to start raining heavily in the next ten minutes.
W: Are you joking? It is so sunny outside. I don’t see any clouds either. I am not carrying my umbrella with me! The weather changes so fast!
Text 2
W: I don’t like wearing all this safety equipment. It is heavy.
M: I don’t either, but it does protect our lungs from the poisonous gases.
W: You’re right. I just wish it were more comfortable.
Text 3
M: There are some coins on the table. Why don’t you put them away?
W: They’re for making dumplings. Whoever eats the dumpling with the coin will have good luck. This is a Chinese tradition.
M: Oh, I’ll eat more dumplings to make sure I’ll be lucky.
Text 4
W: I’m trying to live a greener lifestyle. Any tips?
M: Start by reducing the use of plastic products and recycling more. About energy, use LED bulbs and try to save water.
W: Great ideas! I’ll include these in my daily life.
Text 5
M: Time is too fast. By next Sunday, Eddy will have been in New York for six months. I wish he could come back home to celebrate his birthday with us next month.
W: Unfortunately, his plan is to visit Mexico at that time.

M: Hey! Hold up!
W: Fine, what’s up?
M: Dad asked me to talk to you about all the exercising you’ve been doing. He thinks you’ve been doing a bit too much.
W: You know what the doctor said — if I don’t get active, I could die of a heart attack.
M: Yeah, but I don’t think he meant for you to do so much. You should take it slowly. Maybe you could build an exercise program that becomes more and more difficult as time goes by.
W: Thanks for your concern. But tell Dad that I’ll be fine with what I’m doing.
Text 7
W: Have you heard that the contract has been cancelled?
M: Yes, you must be really annoyed after all the work you put into it.
W: Yes, I was. The client was really positive about it but they were in some financial difficulty.
M: It was a huge contract, wasn’t it? What are you going to do now?
W: Well, we’ve just had a big order from another client so that’s taken pressure off.

W: Well, my parents weren’t musical, and I didn’t show much interest in the musical events at school. Luckily, I had private lessons from a music teacher, and that’s where it all started.
M: And you eventually entered a youth music competition at the age of 18?
W: I just wanted to see if I could play as well as others my age. But I didn’t think about winning. And I can’t really say I practiced day and night for it, either.
M: So, how did you feel when you won?
W: Well, when the judges announced the result, I just thought it was such a pity I couldn’t share the prize with others, as they’d played brilliantly.
M: How has your career developed since the competition?
W: Well, as a result of winning, I was invited to take part in a couple of TV series. And I was extremely lucky to be offered a place at a famous music college, where I’m now expanding my knowledge of music composition. So, I owe a lot to that competition!
