In 1960, she was chosen to go to what is now Tanzania and study the little-known world of chimpanzees. Since then, Goodall has received many awards and honorary degrees as a world-famous conservationist Now, Goodall has received an unusual honor. She is becoming a toy — a Barbie doll. Goodall may not have expected to become a Barbie at 88 years old — but it’s not just any doll, it’s made out of recycled plastic. And Barbie is partnering with the Jane Goodall Foundation and its Roots & Shoots program which inspires young people to protect animals and the environment. “You know, the main message is that every day you live, you make an influence on the planet and you get to choose what sort of influence you make,” Goodall said. “There was a little boy of 7 in Burundi, and I had given a talk to the school and he came up to me and said, ‘If I pick out a piece of trash every day, it will make a difference, won’t it?’ And I said, ‘Yes it will. And suppose you persuade (劝说) 10 of your friends to pick up a piece of rubbish every day.’ He said, ‘Oh, that would really make a difference and then they could all get 10 of their friends, couldn’t they?’ Goodall said, “So, that’s it. The cumulative (积累的) effect of small actions can lead to big change.” She’s been inspiring young people for decades, but now, newer generations will get to know Jane Goodall. “I sincerely hope that it will help to create more interest in the natural world,” she said about the Barbie. “Because hopefully, you know, they’ll learn more about me through the doll. And that will get them interested. It doesn’t really matter if they have a career in conservation, as long as they pay attention to conservation in their daily lives.” 4. What is the intention of Barbie’s making a doll of Jane Goodall? A. To give Jane Goodall a surprise. B. To test the quality of recycled plastic. C. To encourage environmental protection. D. To start a cooperative research program. 5. What idea does Goodall’s conversation with the little boy mainly convey? A. Everyone can make an impact on the planet. B. Children will make the future world a better place. C Every child should pick up a piece of rubbish every day. D. The accumulation of tiny actions makes a great difference. 6. What is Goodall’s attitude towards the Barbie doll? A. Critical. B. Supportive. C. Disapproving. D. Doubtful. 7. Which of the following could be the best title for the text? A. Jane Goodall’s Good Expectation of Nature Conservation B. Young People’s Strong Interest in Nature Conservation C. Great Popularity of a New Barbie Doll of Jane Goodall D. Inspire Newer Generations to Care About Conservation Through a Doll 【答案】4. C 5. D 6. B 7. D 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇新闻报道。文章讲述芭比娃娃公司推出了一款以自然环境保护主义者Jane Goodall为原型的芭比娃娃,以鼓励年轻人保护自然环境。 【4题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中的“but it’s not just any doll, it’s made out of recycled plastic. And Barbie is partnering with the Jane Goodall Foundation and its Roots & Shoots program which inspires young people to protect animals and the environment. (但这不是一个普通的芭比娃娃,它是由回收塑料制成的。芭比正与珍·古道尔基金会及其“根与芽”项目合作,该项目旨在激励年轻人保护动物和环境。)”可知,芭比娃娃公司推出以自然环境保护主义者Jane Goodall为原型的芭比娃娃旨在鼓励年轻人保护动物和环境。故选C。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中的““There was a little boy of 7 in Burundi, and I had given a talk to the school and he came up to me and said, ‘If I pick out a piece of trash every day, it will make a difference, won’t it?’ And I said, ‘Yes it will. And suppose you persuade (劝说) 10 of your friends to pick up a piece of rubbish every day.’ He said, ‘Oh, that would really make a difference and then they could all get 10 of their friends, couldn’t they?’ Goodall said, “So, that’s it. The cumulative (积累的) effect of small actions can lead to big change.” 根据最后一段““I sincerely hope that it will help to create more interest in the natural world,” she said about the Barbie. “Because hopefully, you know, they’ll learn more about me through the doll. And that will get them interested. It doesn’t really matter if they have a career in conservation, as long as they pay attention to conservation in their daily lives.” D。 C It’s midafternoon. You’re full from lunch. The day is warm. You’re starting to feel sleepy. Should you give in to the comfort of a nap (小睡)? From the viewpoint of health, it may be worth it. Though there is a hassle when it comes to whether napping benefits everyone, we generally acknowledge that naps can improve at least some people’s cognitive (认知的) performance in the short term. For example, scientists reviewed a past experiment that focused on healthy participants with regular sleep cycles. In that experiment, participants were given math problems that could be solved with a shortcut that they weren’t told about. Some participants were encouraged to take a nap before dealing with the problems. It was found that those who napped-and spent even just 30 seconds in the first, lightest stage of sleep-were 2.7 times more likely to figure out the math shortcut than those who stayed awake. But entering a deeper sleep stage had a negative effect. The benefits of napping are strongest for people who have sleep debt, such as shift workers, new parents and elderly people whose nighttime sleep is always interrupted. They all seem to get a boost through napping: a 2013 study focusing on such people, for example, showed that taking a nap during one’s night shift work reduced sleepiness and improved overall performance, even if people were slightly inactive as they came out of their nap-a phenomenon called “sleep inertia (惰性)”. There is something we can do to reduce sleep inertia. A 20-minute nap is good for recharging, and 60 to 90 minutes of sleep can be even more restorative. The nap to avoid is one lasting more than 20 minutes and less than 60 minutes, which is most likely to lead to sleep inertia. 8. What does the underlined word “hassle” mean in paragraph 2? A. Debate. B. Tendency. C. Guidance. D. Judgement. 9. What did the experiment find about napping? A. It improves memory. B. It helps clear one’s mind C. It may promote one’s health. D. It has a bad influence on people. 10. What can we infer about the subjects of the 2013 study? A. They tended to nap more. B. They were inactive in daytime. C. They came out of their naps slowly. D. They didn’t get enough nighttime sleep 11. How can we avoid sleep inertia? A. By taking fewer naps. B. By napping within 1 hour. C. By managing the nap length. D. By avoiding long naps. 【答案】8. A 9. B 10. D 11. 根据第三段中“It was found that those who napped-and spent even just 30 seconds in the first, lightest stage of sleep-were 2.7 times more likely to figure out the math shortcut than those who stayed awake. But entering a deeper sleep stage had a negative effect.(研究发现,那些在睡眠最轻的第一阶段小睡了30秒的人比那些保持清醒的人更有可能找到数学捷径,这个概率是其他人的2.7倍。但是进入深度睡眠阶段会产生负面影响。)”可知,该实验发现小睡有助于使人头脑清醒。故选B。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段“The benefits of napping are strongest for people who have sleep debt, such as shift workers, new parents and elderly people whose nighttime sleep is always interrupted. They all seem to get a boost through napping (小睡的好处对于那些有睡眠债务的人来说是最大的,比如轮班工人,初为人父母的人和夜间睡眠总是被打断的老年人。他们似乎都能通过小睡得到提升)”可推知,研究对象是一些有睡眠负债的人,他们夜晚的睡眠不充足。故选D。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。最后一段“There is something we can do to reduce sleep inertia. A 20-minute nap is good for recharging, and 60 to 90 minutes of sleep can be even more restorative. The nap to avoid is one lasting more than 20 minutes and less than 60 minutes, which is most likely to lead to sleep inertia.(我们可以做一些事情来减少睡眠惰性。20分钟的小睡有助于恢复体力,60到90分钟的睡眠甚至可以让你恢复体力。要避免的小睡持续时间超过20分钟,少于60分钟,这很可能导致睡眠惰性。)”介绍了如何减轻睡眠惰性。20分钟以及60至90分钟的小睡都有作用,但是20分钟以上、60分钟以下的小睡最有可能导致睡眠惰性。由此可推知,小睡的时间要安排好,既不能太短,也不能太长。故选C。 D Plenty, an agricultural technology company in San Francisco, is reinventing farms and farming. Nater Storye, the company’s chief science officer says the future of the farms will be vertical (垂直的) and indoors, so food can be grown anywhere in the world all year round, and farms will employ robots and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the quality of growth for fruits and vegetables. Plenty does all those things but uses 95% less water and 99% less land. As AI is on the rise, farmers on flat farms have been using new tools to make farming better or easier. In recent years, they have been using drones (无人机) and robots to improve efficiency. However, flat farms still use a lot of water and land, while a Plenty’s vertical farm can produce the same quantity of fruits and vegetables as a 720-acre flat farm, but on only 2 acres. Plenty’s climate-controlled indoor farm has rows of plants growing vertically. There are LED lights shining on them, robots moving them around, and AI managing all the variables of water, temperature, and light. The conditions are so good that the production per acre is 400 times higher than that of an outdoor farm. Another advantage of vertical farming is that the fruits and vegetables are grown at a warehouse nearby instead of 1,000 miles away or more from a city. That means many transportation miles are saved, which can reduce millions of tons of greenhouse gases every year and the price of fruits and vegetables will also go down. Imported (进口的) fruits and vegetables are more expensive, so poor people in society are at an extreme nutritional disadvantage. Vertical farms could cope with this problem. Also, Plenty’s farms grow organic food without using herbicides (除草剂) or pesticides. They recycle all the water used, even catching the water in the air. The best farm in San Francisco is using 100% renewable energy. Moreover, all the packaging is 100% recyclable, made of recycled plastic and specially designed to keep the food fresh longer to reduce food waste. Ideally, the company will branch out, opening farms across the country and beyond. 12. What can we learn from the first two paragraphs? A. Robots and AI used on vertical farms can quicken the growth of plants. B. Fruits and vegetables grown on vertical farms are more tasty. C. Both land and water can be saved on vertical farms. D. Plenty is the first company to grow crops on vertical farms. 13. What does the underlined phrase “cope with” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Register. B. Improve. C. Present. D. Solve. 14. What can we infer about Plenty’s future vertical farms from the text? A. They will have more farms. B. They will only be run by robots and AI. C. They will bring about terrible problems. D. They will completely take the place of flat farms. 15. What is the main purpose of the text? A. To question the possibility of vertical farming B. To show the technologies of vertical farming. C. To discuss the potential problems of vertical farming D. To introduce and explain the benefits of vertical farming. 【答案】12. C 13. D 14. A 15. D 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了垂直农业的诸多好处以及将来的发展方向及相关内容。 【12题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段中“Plenty does all those things but uses 95% less water and 99% less land.(Plenty做了所有这些事情,但少用了95%的水,少用了99%的土地)”和第二段中“However, flat farms still use a lot of water and land, while a Plenty’s vertical farm can produce the same quantity of fruits and vegetables as a 720-acre flat farm, but on only 2 acres.(然而,平面农场仍然使用大量的水和土地,而Plenty的垂直农场可以生产与720英亩平面农场相同数量的水果和蔬菜,但只有2英亩)”可知,生产相同数量的水果和蔬菜,垂直农场比传统的平面农场使用的土地和水更少。也就是说,垂直农场可以节省土地资源和水资源。故选C项。 【13题详解】 词句猜测题。划线词句前文“Imported (进口的) fruits and vegetables are more expensive, so poor people in society are at an extreme nutritional disadvantage.(进口水果和蔬菜更贵,所以社会上的穷人在营养方面处于极端劣势)”以及该段其他内容说明,该段主要讲述了垂直农业的另一个优势,从而推知划线词句“Vertical farms could cope with this problem.(垂直农场可以cope with这个问题)”其中划线短语应为“解决”的意思,与D项Solve“解决”同义。故选D项。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。通读全文,根据最后一段中“Ideally, the company will branch out, opening farms across the country and beyond.(理想情况下,该公司将扩大规模,在全国各地及其他地区开设农场)”可知,在未来,Plenty将会有更多的垂直农场。故选A项。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,根据第一段中“Plenty does all those things but uses 95% less water and 99% less land.(Plenty做了所有这些事情,但少用了95%的水,少用了99%的土地)”和第四段中“Another advantage of vertical farming is that the fruits and vegetables are grown at a warehouse nearby instead of 1,000 miles away or more from a city.(垂直农业的另一个优点是,水果和蔬菜是在附近的仓库种植的,而不是离城市1000英里或更远的地方)”和倒数第二段中“Also, Plenty’s farms grow organic food without using herbicides (除草剂) or pesticides.(此外,许多农场种植的有机食品不使用除草剂或杀虫剂)”以及最后一段中“Moreover, all the packaging is 100% recyclable, made of recycled plastic and specially designed to keep the food fresh longer to reduce food waste.(此外,所有的包装都是100%可回收的,由再生塑料制成,特别设计可以使食物保持更长时间的新鲜,以减少食物浪费)”可知,本文主要介绍了垂直农业的多种益处并就其益处进行了解释。故选D项。 第二节 七选五(共5 小題;每小题 2.5 分,满分12.5 分) How to Show Respect Whether you’re talking to your best friend or a stranger, respecting them shows that you’re kind and considerate. The school was twice as big as my old school, and to make matters worse, my closest friends went to a different high school. I felt very lonely. One cold and windy Sunday afternoon, I was sitting at home at our dining room table doing homework, with a fire going in our fireplace. As usual, my cat was lying on top of my papers, purring(发出呼噜声)loudly. She was never far from me. I had rescued her when she was a kitten and put my name on her collar in case she got lost again. Suddenly, I smelled something strange, and then I noticed that smoke was pouring in. It filled the room so quickly that we all ran out into the front yard. By the time we made our way outside, the whole roof was in flames and the fire was spreading quickly. When the fire was finally out, our house was almost completely burned down. I was in a bad mood and then it struck me...I hadn’t seen my cat. Where was my cat? Much to my horror, I realized that my cat was gone and my heart ached for her. Then all at once it hit me-the new school, the fire, my cat—I broke down in tears and cried and cried. The next day, I went to school. But I was totally embarrassed by everything. My clothes and shoes were borrowed from my aunt. I had no books or homework, and my backpack was gone. I had my life in that backpack! I didn’t want to grow up if it was going to be this way. I just wanted to curl up and quit school. It always seems that bad news spreads quickly. Everyone in high school, including the teachers, was aware of my sad situation. What a way to start off at a new school! This was not the kind of attention I was looking for. The next day at school, people were acting even stranger than usual. They kept asking me to hurry up to the gym. I thought it was strange, but when I went into the gym, I knew why. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 There was a big table with all kinds of stuff on it. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A week later, I was planning my new bedroom when the doorbell rang. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文: There was a big table with all kinds of stuff on it. It was like Christmas. They had taken up a collection and bought me school supplies, notebooks, all kinds of different clothes, tops, sweatsuits, etc. I was overcome by emotion. People who had never spoken to me before were coming up to me to introduce themselves. I got all kinds of invitations to their houses. Their genuine outpouring of concern really touched me. In that instant, I finally breathed a sigh of relief and thought for the first time that things were going to be okay. I made so many friends that day and I decided to move on and look on the bright side of life. A week later, I was planning my new bedroom when the doorbell rang. "Does this cat belong to you?" asked a woman at the door. I couldn't believe my eyes. She was holding my cat! I leaped up and grabbed her out of the woman's arms. I held her close to me and she purred happily. Apparently, my cat had been so freaked by the fire that she ran away. This wonderful woman took her in and worked hard to find out whose cat it was. As I sat there with my cat curling up in my lap, all the overwhelming feelings of loss and tragedy seemed to diminish. I felt gratitude for my life, my new friends, and the kindness of a stranger. My cat was back and so was I. 【解析】 【导语】本文以人物为线索展开,讲述了作者刚上高中时没有新朋友,感觉很孤单,对学校没有归属感。 词汇激活 行为类 ①救:rescue/save ②注意到:notice/be aware of ③辍学:quit school/drop out of school 情绪类 ①恐惧:horror/ terror ②孤独的:lonely/isolated 【点睛】[高分句型1]One cold and windy Sunday afternoon, I was sitting at home at our dining room table doing homework, with a fire going in our fireplace.(使用了with引导的复合结构) [高分句型2]I had rescued her when she was a kitten and put my name on her collar in case she got lost again.(使用了由when引导的时间状语从句) [高分句型3]I didn’t want to grow up if it was going to be this way.(使用了由if引导的条件状语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025—2026学年第一学期期末质量检测高一年级英语试卷 (时间:120分钟 总分:150分) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的A、B、C三个选项中选出最佳选项。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题。每段对话仅读一遍。 1. In 1960, she was chosen to go to what is now Tanzania and study the little-known world of chimpanzees. Since then, Goodall has received many awards and honorary degrees as a world-famous conservationist (自然环境保护主义者). Now, Goodall has received an unusual honor. It doesn’t really matter if they have a career in conservation, as long as they pay attention to conservation in their daily lives.” 4 What is the intention of Barbie’s making a doll of Jane Goodall? C. Every child should pick up a piece of rubbish every day. Inspire Newer Generations to Care About Conservation Through a Doll C It’s midafternoon. D Plenty, an agricultural technology company in San Francisco, is reinventing farms and farming. The school was twice as big as my old school and to make matters worse, my closest friends went to a different high school. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
