Chester Zoo in the UK recently welcomed four very special newborns - the only fossa(长尾狸猫) pups(幼崽) born in the country. A fossa is a rare(稀有的), cat-like animal that lives only on the island of Madagascar(马达加斯加). These four pups—two boys and two girls—are extremely special because very few are born in zoos. In fact, only three litters have been born in European zoos this year, and there are just about 2,500 fossas left in the wild.
Fossas are fascinating creatures. They can grow up to about 0.7 metres in length from head to body, not including their long tail, and they usually live for around 15 years. Their home is in the forests of Madagascar, where they hunt small animals such as mice for food.
Although they mostly prefer to live alone, fossas have an interesting way of keeping in touch. They communicate and track one another by leaving their scent(味道) on trees and other objects. This helps them “talk” without having to meet face to face.
The arrival of these four pups is not only a joyful event for Chester Zoo, but also an important step in helping to protect this rare species(物种). By learning more about them and sharing their story, we can better understand how to care for fossas and the wild forests they call home.
24. How many fossas are left in the wild?
A. 4. B. 3. C. 2,500.
25. Why are the four newborn fossa pups at Chester Zoo so special?
A. Because very few are born in zoos.
B. Because they are very large in size.
C. Because they can live for more than 20 years.
26. How do fossas usually communicate with each other?
A. By making loud calls.
B. By marking things with their scent.
C. By living together in large groups.
27. What is the writer’s attitude(态度)to the birth of the fossa pups?
A. Worried. B. Unclear. C. Positive.

Being confident isn’t just about what you know or think; confidence comes from how you feel in your body too.
If your shoulders are hunched (驼背的) and your head’s down, you feel differently to the way you feel when you’re sitting or standing straight with your head up and your shoulders back. Try it for yourself. How do you feel now?
Research has found that when you’re hunched with your arms and legs crossed and looking down, your body releases (释放) chemicals that can make you feel more stressed or worried. Young people’s coach Maria Evans says your body and brain are connected. “When you stand with your back tall, legs apart (分开) and hands on hips, your body sends the message to your mind that you feel confident and strong.”
Your body language doesn’t just affect how you feel. It tells other people how nervous or brave you feel too. Think about someone you see as confident. How do they carry themselves? Bring to mind a movie or TV character you admire for being brave or strong and picture how he sits, stands or walks. See if you can do the same.
If you’re feeling nervous, perhaps before you sit a test or do something new, you can feel more confident by taking a power posture (姿势). Sit or stand up straight with both feet planted on the ground. Stretch(伸展)your arms out above your head. Keep your shoulders down and your head up to help you keep the confident feeling. Evans suggests doing a power posture for a few minutes before school. Notice how it makes you feel and how your mood has changed.
28. What does paragraph 2 mainly tell us?
A.Sitting straight is good.
B.Keeping shoulders down is bad.
C.Postures may influence feelings.
29. What does the underlined word “they” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A.TV characters. B. Confident people. C. Nervous feelings.
30. Which of the following pictures shows a power posture?
A. B. C.
31. Which is the best title for the passage?
A.How to Become a Confident Person.
B.Your Body Language Shapes How You Feel.
C.What Science Says About Posture and Health.
