Bus driver Carlos Mendez was on his usual route (路线) through downtown Austin, carrying 15 passengers on a busy weekday morning. Suddenly, he heard a noise from the back of the bus. Looking back, he saw an elderly passenger falling forward, face white and hands pressed against his chest.
Carlos didn’t wait. He quickly pulled over, turned on the warning lights, and said to the other passengers, “I have to help this man — please stay in your seats, and I will call an ambulance now.” He left his seat and hurried to the back of the bus. The man, whose name was later found to be Arthur Hale, did not reply when Carlos touched his shoulder. Carlos remembered his medical training. He checked Arthur’s heartbeat, which was weak, and began pressing down hard on his chest.
A few passengers joined Carlos as he continued the first aid (急救), counting aloud to keep rhythm (节奏). After three minutes that felt like a century, Arthur let out a soft cough and opened his eyes a little. “Easy there, sir — you’re going to be okay,” Carlos said to him, slowing his own movements but keeping a hand on Arthur’s wrist.
Another five minutes later, the ambulance arrived and the doctors took over. They told Carlos that Arthur had suffered a heart attack, and his quick action had prevented possible death. Arthur was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment and went back home two days later. When Carlos visited him that weekend, Arthur held his hand closely and said, “You didn’t just drive a bus that day — you drove me to safety. I owe (欠) my life to you.” Carlos smiled, his eyes shining “That’s what we’ re here for — looking out for each other. Knowing I’ve made a difference is the best part of my job.”

C. Elderly people should avoid taking buses alone.
D. Quick thinking is important in traffic accidents.
B 25. C 26. D 27. B

根据第一段“Looking back, he saw an elderly passenger falling forward, face white and hands pressed against his chest.(回头一看,他看到一位老年乘客向前倾倒,脸色苍白,双手紧按在胸口。)”
He quickly pulled over, turned on the warning lights, and said to the other passengers, “I have to help this man — please stay in your seats, and I will call an ambulance now.” He left his seat and hurried to the back of the bus.(卡洛斯没有片刻犹豫。他迅速将车停靠在路边,打开警示灯,并对其他乘客说:“我必须帮助这位先生——请大家留在座位上,我现在就呼叫救护车。”他离开驾驶座,急忙赶到公交车后部。)”和“Carlos remembered his medical training. C
AI has made its way into almost every field, and according to Abta’s latest Holiday Habits report, the travel industry is no exception. The rate of people using AI to get some travel ideas has doubled in the past 12 months, up to 8 percent from 4 percent.
The survey of 2,001 people also showed that younger generations are leading the way in using AI. The largest age group is 25- to 34-year-olds, with 18 percent looking for travel ideas through AI. That number drops to 13 percent for 18-to 24-year-olds. And only 3 percent of 55-to 64-year-olds are using AI for holiday tips.
However, AI has not taken over just yet when it comes to researching trips, as Internet searches (48 percent) and recommendations from friends and family (41 percent) still remain the most common ways to choose where to go. In fact, people taking more traditional routes, such as looking through holiday brochures (手册), still take up 25 percent.
Abta says that AI will continue to grow when it comes to trip planning. Holidaymakers have already shown a level of trust in AI for making travel decisions. 43 percent people in the survey said they would be confident to some degree in letting an AI tool plan their holiday, with this number dropping to just 38 percent letting the tool book their trip for them.
Travel industry leaders state that AI will continue to be a big part of what customers do before they make a travel decision. According to them, AI will greatly influence the travel industry, but travellers still want to communicate with a travel company before booking trips. Travel companies will not vanish anytime soon, because of that group of customers who think it’s necessary to go in and look someone in the eye when they’re booking something.
28. How does the author develop paragraph 2?
A. By using examples. B. By comparing AI tools.
C. By explaining rules. D. By presenting numbers.
29. What is the most common way for people to make travel plans?
A. Depending on AI tools. B. Asking for others’ advice.
C. Searching the Internet. D. Reading the holiday advertisements.
30. What does the underlined word “vanish” in the last paragraph probably mean?
A. Disappear. B. Enlarge. C. Succeed. D. Recover.
31. What does the text mainly talk about?
A. The rapid development of AI tools.
B. The rising role of AI in travel planning.
C. The younger generations’ preference for AI.
D. The great challenges faced by travel companies.
D 29. C 30. A 31. B
根据第二段的“2,001 people(2001个人)”,“18 percent(百分之18)”,“13 percent(百分之13)”和“3 percent(百分之3)”等可知,作者通过呈现具体的数字来强调AI对人们旅游选择的影响。
根据第三段的“However, AI has not taken over just yet when it comes to researching trips, as Internet searches (48 percent) and recommendations from friends and family (41 percent) still remain the most common ways to choose where to go.(然而,在旅行目的地的研究选择方面,人工智能尚未完全占据主导地位,因为互联网搜索(48%)以及亲朋好友的推荐(41%)仍是人们选择旅行去处时最常用的方式。)”
根据最后一段的“travellers still want to communicate with a travel company before booking trips(旅行者在预订行程前仍希望与旅行社进行沟通)”以及“because of that group of customers who think it’s necessary to go in and look someone in the eye when they’re booking something(这是因为有一部分顾客认为,在预订某样东西时,有必要亲自前往并与工作人员面对面交流)”可知,旅行者仍希望在预订旅行前与旅行社沟通,这部分消费者的需求让旅行社有存在的必要性。 故选A。
通读全文,尤其是第一段“AI has made its way into almost every field, and according to Abta’s latest Holiday Habits report, the travel industry is no exception. The rate of people using AI to get some travel ideas has doubled in the past 12 months, up to 8 percent from 4 percent.(人工智能几乎已渗透至各个领域,据英国旅行协会(Abta)最新发布的《度假习惯报告》显示,旅游业也不例外。在过去12个月里,借助人工智能获取旅行灵感的人数比例翻了一番,从4%升至8%。)”可知,全文围绕AI在旅行规划中日益凸显的作用展开,因此主旨是B选项“The rising role of AI in travel planning.(人工智能在旅行规划中日益重要的作用。)”。故选B。
D
If you take a walk through a Pittsburgh city park, you might come across a group of goats (山羊) eating poison ivy, one type of plants harmful to the ecosystem (生态系统). It is part of an experiment (实验).
By eating a lot of plants, goats greatly cut down the plants that need to be treated with herbicides (除草剂). Herbicides are traditionally used to clear out unwanted plants. There is glyphosate in many herbicides, which is reported to lead to cancer — a serious illness. Herbicides can remain in the soil and on plants, and during rain, they are washed into streams and rivers, further polluting the ecosystem.
There’s a need for goats all across the U.S., including California and New Mexico, where they help in wildfire prevention. Goats are sure-footed, and they enjoy climbing up and getting to the plants that are difficult for humans to clear away. They prefer woody plants, soft shoots and bushes (灌木丛) compared with other plant-eaters, such as cows, who are happy with grasses and low-lying plants. This makes goats perfect for clearing areas of high-growing woody plants that strengthen wildfires.
However, there are challenges in using goats. Their hairs are thin, which means they couldn’t work outside in cold winter. Goats can break seeds (种子) of harmful plants down in their stomachs, so they don’t spread the plants they’re eating, but this also makes them easy to suffer from stomach illnesses.
But when you think about the bigger picture, these problems are just small. One good thing that came from Pittsburgh’s goat experiment was the public interest it received. After the experiment finished, many other cities wanted to know how they could start a similar project. People, it turns out, also like goats. Park visitors love seeing the goats at work. Their presence brings a lot of joy and adds to the park experience!
32. Why are goats used in some city parks in the U.S.?
A. To study their eating habits. B. To cut down the costs on herbicides.
C. To attract more tourists to the parks. D. To deal with harmful plants in a natural way.
33. What can we infer about goats from paragraph 3?
A. They are no better at climbing than cows.
B. They prefer low-lying plants to woody bushes.
C. They help prevent wildfires by eating specific plants.
D. They are mainly raised in California and New Mexico.
34. What is the public’s attitude towards the goat project?
A. Positive. B. Worried. C. Uncaring. D. Unclear.
35. Which of the following would be the best title for the text?
A. The Disadvantages of Using Herbicides in Parks
B. How Goats Help Protect the Ecosystem in the U.S.
C. Different Ways to Prevent Wildfires Across the U.S.
D. How Pittsburgh’s Park Experiment Was Carried Out
D 33. C 34. A 35. B

根据第三段“They prefer woody plants, soft shoots and bushes compared with other plant-eaters, such as cows, who are happy with grasses and low-lying plants. This makes goats perfect for clearing areas of high-growing woody plants that strengthen wildfires.(与其他食草动物如喜欢草和低矮植物的牛相比,山羊更喜欢木本植物、嫩枝和灌木丛。这使得山羊非常适合清理那些会加剧野火的高大木本植物区域。)”可知,山羊通过食用特定植物来帮助预防野火。故选C。
【34题详解】
推理判断题。根据第五段“One good thing that came from Pittsburgh’s goat experiment was the public interest it received. After the experiment finished, many other cities wanted to know how they could start a similar project. People, it turns out, also like goats. Park visitors love seeing the goats at work.(匹兹堡山羊实验带来的一个好处是获得了公众的关注。实验结束后,许多其他城市想知道如何启动类似的项目。事实证明,人们也喜欢山羊。公园游客喜欢看山羊工作。)”可知,公众对山羊项目的态度是积极的。故选A。

Your bedroom should feel like a place for rest and relaxation. But if it often stresses you out, disorder and unnecessary messes might be the reason. Changing your habits to keep your bedroom tidier may seem challenging. ____36____
* Make tidying part of your daily routine (日常).
You probably have a nightly routine that includes skincare and brushing your teeth. So, why not add a little tidying to it? Start and end your day with this increased habit. When you get out of bed, spend five minutes picking up things from the floor. ____37____ Put the things where they should be.
*____38____
Make your bed each morning at once for a tidier bedroom. But too much bedding and accessories (配饰) can make the task feel like more of a chore. If you’re not a fan of using a top sheet, set it aside. Then, give up extra pillows that end up on the floor and add to messes.
* Plan your cleaning periods.
It’s true that we all have busy schedules. ____39____ So, you need a plan. First, for smaller tasks like tidying up the table at your bedside, which just takes a few minutes, you can do them as soon as you get up. For larger organizing tasks, though, like sorting out your dresser, it’s better to spare some time on the weekend.
* Stop piling (堆) clothes on the floor.

上文“Changing your habits to keep your bedroom tidier may seem challenging.(改变习惯,让卧室保持整洁,这看似颇具挑战性。)” C选项“But it’s actually easier than you think.(但实际上这比你想象的更容易。)”
上文“So, why not add a little tidying to it? Start and end your day with this increased habit. When you get out of bed, spend five minutes picking up things from the floor.(那么,为何不加入一点整理呢?以这个新增的习惯开始和结束一天。起床后,花五分钟捡起地上的东西。)”强调“以整理习惯开始和结束一天”,并描述了“起床时花五分钟捡地板上的东西”的动作。D选项“Do the same before going to bed in the night.(晚上睡觉前也做同样的事。)”呼应上文“Start and end your day”的逻辑。故选D。
空格处是本段小标题,由下文“If you’re not a fan of using a top sheet, set it aside. Then, give up extra pillows that end up on the floor and add to messes.(如果你不喜欢使用床笠,就把它放在一边。然后,放弃那些最终会掉到地上、增加杂乱的额外枕头。)”可知,下文围绕“过多床上用品和配饰会增加整理难度”展开,具体给出“搁置床笠、放弃多余枕头”等建议,核心是“减少床上用品”。B选项“Cut down on your bedding.(减少床上用品。)”
上文“It’s true that we all have busy schedules.(诚然,我们都有繁忙的日程安排。)”提到“大家日程都很繁忙”的客观事实,下文“So, you need a plan. First, for smaller tasks like tidying up the table at your bedside, which just takes a few minutes, you can do them as soon as you get up. For larger organizing tasks, though, like sorting out your dresser, it’s better to spare some time on the weekend.(因此,你需要制定一个计划。首先,对于一些小任务,比如整理床头柜,只需几分钟就能完成,你可以一起床就做。不过,对于一些较大的整理任务,比如整理梳妆台,最好在周末抽出一些时间来做。)”以“所以你需要一个计划”引出“小任务日常做、大任务周末做”的具体方案。F选项“And cleaning your whole room in one day isn’t the best choice.(而且一天打扫整个房间不是最佳选择。)”
上文“This not only looks messy but also makes your space feel more uncomfortable.(这不仅看起来杂乱无章,还会让你的空间感觉更加不适。)”指出“衣物堆在地板或椅子上”的问题及影响,下文“Simply having a special place for dirty clothes can make a great difference.(只需为脏衣服设置一个专门的放置处,就能带来很大的改变。)” E选项“Luckily, there’s an easy way to break this habit.(幸运的是,有一个简单的方法可以打破这个习惯。)”

Six-year-old Leo was born with a problem in his right leg. He needed a stick to walk. When he said he wanted to learn swimming, his whole family was surprised. “In the water, there’s no ground to stop me. I can ‘run’ like everyone else,” Leo said, holding his hands closely with strong hope in his eyes.
When Leo walked into the swimming pool for the first time, the cold water reached his stomach. Suddenly, his right leg lost control, and he started to sink (下沉). Coach Lisa quickly caught him and said softly, “Don’t be afraid. The water will hold you up.” But the training was much harder than Leo had thought. Kicking, which others learned easily, made Leo struggle a lot. His right leg just couldn’t move in the proper way. He could only swim two meters before choking (窒息) on water.
After about one month, Leo watched other kids swimming freely. He sat by the pool and wiped his tears: “I can never do this. I want to give up.” His mom sat by his side and said, “Look, Leo. At first, you couldn’t even stand in the water. But now you can swim five meters — that’s progress!” Coach Lisa also came over with a float (浮板): “Let’s try a new way. We’ ll practice using your left arm to swim first, and use a float for your right leg.”
The days of trying again were still full of challenges. One night, Leo’s right leg hurt so badly that he couldn’t fall asleep at all. The next morning, Leo refused to go to the pool, but his mother still drove him there. When Coach Lisa came to check on him, she brought along some good news. “The city’s disabled swimming competition is coming soon,” Coach Lisa said. “You’re getting faster and stronger, Leo. And I’ve signed you up for this competition.”
注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
Hearing those words, Leo felt greatly encouraged.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The competition day soon came, and Leo appeared at the starting point confidently. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
Hearing those words, Leo felt greatly encouraged. He forgot the pain in his right leg at once and looked at Coach Lisa with bright eyes. Every day after that, he trained harder than before. He practiced arm strokes hundreds of times until his shoulders ached, and kept trying kicking even when his leg felt weak. His mom cheered for him by the pool, and Coach Lisa always corrected his postures patiently. Leo never complained again — he knew the competition was his chance to prove he could do it. He even started to imagine himself swimming bravely in the pool, with everyone cheering for him.
The competition day soon came, and Leo appeared at the starting point confidently. He knew he was well prepared. When the gun rang, he jumped into the water and swam as hard as he could. His right leg still didn’t move as smoothly as others, but he tried his best to push forward. The cheers from his family and Coach Lisa kept him going. Finally, he touched the finish line! Though he took third place, Leo raised his head proudly with tears of joy. Holding the medal, he realized he had not only shown everyone he could swim, but also found true freedom in the water — freedom from limits, freedom to chase his dreams.

A Disappear. B. Enlarge. C. Succeed. D. Recover.
31. What does the text mainly talk about?
A. The rapid development of AI tools.
B. The rising role of AI in travel planning.
C. The younger generations’ preference for AI.
D. The great challenges faced by travel companies.
