Today marks the first day of our family's cross-country train journey to Lhasa, and excitement is bubbling
through every carriage.Waking up at dawn to catch the 7:30 train,I pressed my forehead against the cold
window as the urban skyline gradually gave way to rolling green hills.By noon,we were passing through
vast grasslands where yaks grazed lazily under cotton-like clouds.
In the dining car,I struck up a conversation with an elderly photographer from Shanghai. He showed me
stunning photos of the Potala Palace he took twenty years ago,his weathered hands tracing the edges of
the images."The air gets thinner up there,"he warned with a grin,"but the stars at night? They look close
enough to touch.”
As dusk painted the sky pink,my little sister fell asleep on my shoulder, clutching the prayer flag souvenir I
bought her at the last station.Outside, nomad tents flickered with lantern light. This journey isn't just about
reaching a destination-it's about the stories we're collecting along the way.

The coastal highway from Qingdao to Xiamen has turned into a silver ribbon today, thanks to the morning
downpour. Our rented SUV hydroplaned slightly as we crossed the Donghai Bridge, but Dad gripped the
wheel steadily, humming an old folk song under his breath.Mom,ever the optimist, declared,"Perfect
weather for trying local seafood hotpot!"
We pulled over at a fishing village around lunchtime. The rain had driven most tourists away, leaving us with
a whole beach to ourselves.A barefoot child selling seashells taught me how to skip stones in the choppy
waves. His laugh mingled with the sound of seagulls as my stone bounced three times before sinking.

This evening,we're staying in a bamboo hut overlooking the ocean. The rain drums on the thatched roof
while I write this by candlelight.Tomorrow's forecast says sunshine, but there's something magical about
watching the storm rage over the sea.Travel isn't just about sunny days-it's about embracing the surprises,
even the wet ones.
