Tom sat at his desk, staring at his homework. He was a bit down. Earlier that evening, he had argued with his dad about using AI to finish his work. “You have used it too much,” his dad had said. “It’s useful, but if you use it for everything, you won’t learn to think for yourself.” Tom knew his dad was right.
That night, Tom came to the bedroom, his heart beating fast. He took a deep breath and entered. “Dad, can we talk?” he asked. His dad smiled and nodded. Tom said, “I was wrong to use AI for all my homework. I want to try doing it by myself from now on.” His dad was glad and gave him some advice: start with small tasks, check facts with AI, but try to write down your own ideas.
The next morning, Tom opened his notebook. He tried to finish his English writing on his own. At first, it was slow, and he made many mistakes. He got confused by some difficult questions and almost gave up. But then he thought of his dad’s words: “Try your best and take your time.” Slowly, he began writing, checking each sentence carefully. By lunchtime, Tom finished his writing and felt more confident.
As the week went on, Tom tried to use what he learned in different subjects. He used AI only to check facts. He still made mistakes and had to rewrite part of his report. At first, he felt upset, but then he realized that correcting his own mistakes helped him understand the topic better. His dad noticed and said, “You are improving. Believe in yourself.”
Finally, Friday came. Tom handed in his history report, written completely by himself. When he got it back, he could hardly believe it—he got an A! His teacher even praised his careful thinking and creative ideas.
Tom learned an important lesson: learning is not about taking the easy way. It is about working hard, thinking carefully, and facing problems bravely.
24. When Tom came to the bedroom that night, he felt ________.
A excited and happy B. angry and impatient
C nervous and worried D. confident and relaxed
25. What did Tom do after he thought of his father’s advice?
A He gave up when he made many mistakes.
B. He finished his writing on his own carefully.
C. He copied his classmates’ work to save time.
D. He used AI to get more ideas for his writing.
26. What can we learn from the story?
A. Making mistakes always leads to negative effects.
B. Using AI is the best way to finish homework quickly.
C. True learning needs effort, independent thinking and facing challenges.
D. Real learning requires practice, quick thinking and avoiding problems.

An attractive picture, showing a spacecraft with a long robotic arm carrying out a task on the surface of the Moon, was shared on social media. It immediately attracted public attention and curiosity. People from all over the world wondered: how was this fantastic picture taken?
The answer lies in a small but highly skilled photographer-an autonomous (自主的) intelligent mini robot weighing less than five kilograms. This mini robot was attached (固定在) to China’s Chang’e-6 lunar lander during its whole journey to the Moon. As a result, after the lander successfully completed its important task of collecting soil and rock samples (样本), the mini robot independently left the lander, carefully moved to a suitable location, and finally took the historic photo that surprised everyone.
This little but special robot is the first of its kind in the whole world to operate autonomously on the far side of the Moon. It has strong abilities and a high level of artificial intelligence (AI), which makes it very smart. Meanwhile, with developed AI technologies, the robot can make its own decisions, much like human beings, and complete several tasks that are difficult or impossible in traditional ways. This ability is very important for working in the unknown environment of space.
The environment on the far side of the Moon is very different from the near side that we can see from the Earth. While the near side is relatively smooth, the far side is covered with high mountains and deep craters (陨石坑). Therefore, to work safely in such challenging and even dangerous conditions, the mini robot was built with a strong “body”. Although it uses highly complex (复杂的) technology, scientists managed to develop it at a surprisingly low cost.
Looking ahead, in the future, this type of intelligent robot is expected to appear in many different forms and help people in various ways. It could be used as an educational robot in classrooms or as a special tool to check narrow and dangerous spaces that are too risky for humans. Experts believe that AI will become a key technology in China’s future deep-space exploration tasks. The small but powerful robot has truly opened a new door for space exploration and scientific research.
27. Why is the mini robot considered “special”?
A. It has a weight of more than five kilograms.
B. It took the first picture of the Moon in history.
C. It helped Chang’e-6 collect soil and rock samples.
D. It was the first to work by itself on the Moon’s far side.
28. What can we learn from the passage?
A. AI helps the robot make its own decisions.
B. The robot cost a lot because of complex technology.
C. Scientists made the robot strong to work under smooth conditions.
D. The robot took photos during the lunar lander’s journey to the Moon.
29. What is mentioned about the mini robot in the last paragraph?
A. The future applications of the mini robot.
B. The challenges of developing the mini robot.
C. The present performance of the mini robot in tasks.
D. The operation of the mini robot in space exploration.
D
As winter comes, warm-blooded animals choose to deal with the cold in a social way: crowding together in groups. From mice to Himalayan rabbits, each animal in a group will get together to share the heat from their bodies and avoid the risk of dying from the cold. This natural behavior not only helps them survive freezing temperatures but also builds social relationships within the group.
While humans may not physically crowd together, our ancestors (祖先) would have depended on the support of others for food, fuel (燃料), and shelter (庇护所), and this would have been especially important when it was cold. As a result, they might be very sensitive to others when the temperature dropped. They were likely to look for other places to get warmth if they felt that they could no longer depend on the group for support. Even today, many people don’t notice closer social connections when the weather turns colder, such as getting together with family for hot meals.
Psychologist (心理学家) Geoffrey was the first to study the connection between being left out and physical warmth. He turned to a video game called Cyberball, which tries to recreate the kind of social exclusion that many of us might have experienced in the playground. Each person is seemingly placed in a group of three and asked to play online catch with two other people, hidden from view. In fact, two of the players are controlled by a computer. In the beginning, these computerized players are designed to throw the ball to each person, but after a while, they begin to avoid the participant (参与者) as programmed, so that the participant no longer feels included in the game. Having been left out by the other players, the participant reports feeling rejected. And the participants have the habit of looking for sources (来源) of warmth as comfort. Some even reach for hot drinks or warm clothes immediately after feeling left out, showing a clear connection between social coldness and the need for physical warmth.
Like all psychological discoveries, this relationship between social connection and physical warmth matters for our mental health—sad people often feel cold, and understanding this may help with better care. In daily life, sharing hot soup with family or giving a warm hug to a sad friend drives away both physical cold and the “social coldness” of feeling left out. After all, warmth from connections, as well as physical warmth, is not just key to getting through the winter—it’s a treasure that helps us live happier, more connected lives.
30. Why does the writer mention “mice” and “rabbits” in Paragraph 1?
A. To list the main sources of physical warmth in winter.
B. To describe how animals might get used to cold in the future.
C. To show a common way warm-blooded animals deal with cold.
D. To introduce the similarities between mice and Himalayan rabbits.
31. In Paragraph 3, the underlined word “exclusion” most probably means ________.
A. losing certain games B. stopping from joining in
C getting help and support D. receiving a warm welcome
32. What are the participants likely to do when they are left out?
A. They may wear light clothes. B. They may stay by themselves.
C. They may eat some potato chips. D. They may drink a cup of hot coffee.
33. What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage?
A. To advise people to share hot food with others on cold days.
B. To explain how warm-blooded animals survive the cold winter.
C. To introduce a famous psychological experiment about being left out.
D. To show the relationship between social connection and physical warmth.

四、阅读表达 (第1-3题每题 2 分,第4题 4 分,共 10 分)
阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
Dealing with emotions can sometimes feel like too much to bear. When life is stressful, it’s easy to give in to feelings of anger or sadness. However, learning to manage emotions can help people feel better. There are ways to better deal with your negative feelings.
Understand Your Emotional Needs
In order to manage your emotions, you need to fully understand them. All of us have our own certain emotional needs that are just as important as our physical needs. Spend some time listing out the emotional needs that are most important to you. For example, some important emotional needs are feeling in control, feeling respected, and feeling comfortable. If your brain feels one of those needs is not being met, that can cause the negative emotions.
Know the Causes
When things aren’t going your way, it is very common to feel angry. Maybe your boss criticized (批评) you for careless work on a project. You might feel that you are not being respected, because you spent months creating a great product. As a result, knowing the things that set off negative emotions is an important part of remaining in control.
Shift ( 转移) Your Focus
When you know that something is causing a negative emotion, try to shift your focus away from it. Instead, refocus on something positive to help you restore your calmness. Perhaps feeling out of control is one of your triggers (诱因). When you are in a traffic jam and running late, you are likely to feel a sense of helplessness and anger. What you need to do is to turn on your favorite CD for just such a situation.
Calm down
When experiencing very strong emotions, it can be difficult to think and act reasonably. When you are angry or scared, your body enters a fight or flight (逃跑) state. So you would react (反应) emotionally instead of reasonably, which is generally not helpful in work or social life. It is really important to learn to calm yourself down when you are experiencing negative emotions. One of the effective ways is to take deep breaths. Focusing on your breathing will help you calm down, physically and emotionally.
34. What can help people feel better when life is stressful?

35. Why do people react emotionally when they are angry or scared?

It is about working hard thinking carefully, and facing problems bravely.
24. When Tom came to the bedroom that night, he felt ________.

C. nervous and worried D. confident and relaxed
25. What did Tom do after he thought of his father’s advice?

D The operation of the mini robot in space exploration.

A. losing certain games B. stopping from joining in
C. getting help and support D. receiving a warm welcome
