阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
AI is now part of our lives. Should we be polite to AI? Here are three kids' ideas.
Aubrey, 14
I think we should say “please” and “thank you” to AI. Though AI can’t feel happy, politeness benefits us. AI is like a helper in our lives. We say “thanks” to people who help us. Why not do the same to AI? It reminds us to be thankful for the help we get, even from technology. Also, being polite to AI helps us keep good habits. When we say “Please tell me the answer” instead of just giving AI an order, we learn to be kind. Kindness can also improve relationships with classmates and teachers. In short, being polite to AI isn’t for AI, but for making us better.
Ethan, 13
AI doesn’t have feelings. When I say “thanks”, my phone will not smile at me. When I say “please”, my computer will not work faster. We use AI because we want things done quickly. So why waste time saying more words? Sometimes, too many polite words can confuse (混淆) AI. For example, if you say, “Could you please make small changes to the text?” AI might make only tiny changes. So keep your communication with AI simple and clear. Don’t worry, AI will never get angry!
Xiao Ziyu, 15
Whether to be polite to AI is a personal choice. AI doesn't have feelings like being happy or sad. So, saying “thanks” or “please” will not change how it works. But for people, using these words can help them be more polite in real life. So we can choose for ourselves. If we want to be fast and easy, just say our needs clearly. If we want to have a better communication experience, teach kids to act well, or build our own good habits, using polite words is a good and helpful choice.
16. Why does Aubrey think it is good to say “please” to AI?
A. It can make AI work more quickly.
B. AI can’t get our orders clearly if we are impolite.
C. AI might get angry if people don't use polite words.
D. It can help people develop polite habits in their lives.
17. In Ethan’s opinion, what might happen if you use too many polite words with AI?
A. AI will refuse to help with your task.
B. AI will become happier and work faster.
C. AI might not understand the request clearly.
D. AI will answer more kindly to polite requests.
18. According to Xiao Ziyu, when is it a good choice to use polite words with AI?
A. When AI asks you to be polite.
B. When you guide kids to talk politely.
C. When AI can understand your feelings.
D. When you want AI to complete tasks faster.
B
I was sitting next to Missy in my 9th-grade world history class when Mrs. Bartlett announced (宣布) a new project: In groups, we were to create a newspaper about the culture we were studying.
On a piece of paper, we wrote the names of three friends we wanted in our group. After collecting all the requests, Mrs. Bartlett told us that she would consider our choices and let us know the results the next day.
After the bell rang the next day, Missy and I waited nervously as Mrs. Bartlett started to call out names. When she reached group three, Missy’s name was called. I would be in the same group, I thought, as I knew we had chosen each other. Then the other three names were called. Mine was not included. There must be a mistake!
Then I heard it. The last group: Mauro, Juliette, Rachel, Karina! I could feel tears well in my eyes. How could I face being in that group—the boy, Mauro, who hardly spoke English and had no friends; Juliette, who was from West Asia, was always covered by long skirts; and the other girl who wore strange clothes. Oh, how I wanted to be with my friends!
I fought back tears as I walked up to Mrs. Bartlett. Knowing what I was there for, she looked at me and gently placed a hand on my shoulder.
“I know what you want, Karina,” she said, “but your group needs you. I need you to help them get a passing grade on this project. Will you help them?”
I was amazed. She had seen something in me even I hadn’t seen. “Yes,” I replied. I couldn’t believe it came out of my mouth, but it did.
I joined the group and guided our project. Through our hard work, we not only got an A but also developed new friendships. More importantly, I discovered my own hidden leadership and value. It was a lesson that was more than a simple newspaper.
19. What did Mrs. Bartlett ask her students to do in the new project?
A. To give a report about their friends.
B. To write a story about world history.
C. To make a poster about different countries.
D. To create a newspaper about the studied culture.
20. How did Karina feel when she heard the names in her group?
A. Excited and happy. B. Surprised and upset.
C. Proud but worried. D. Glad but nervous.
21. What is the correct order of what happened in the story?
a. The students wrote down their favorite group members.
b. Mrs. Bartlett announced a group project in history class.
c. The teacher read out the group lists in class the next day.
d. Karina agreed to help her group after talking with Mrs. Bartlett.
e. Karina found herself placed in a group with unfamiliar classmates.
A. b–a–c–e–d B. a–c–d–b–e C. b–a–e–d–c D. a–b–d–c–e
22. What can we learn from the story?
A. Working with friends always brings success.
B. It's important to wear nice clothes to school.
C. We can discover our abilities by helping others.
D. Teachers sometimes make mistakes in grouping students.
C
Most people agree that animals have feelings, but they are not sure if these feelings are correctly understood. In recent years, scientists have done in-depth research on the emotional (情感的) lives of different animals, from cows and frogs to pandas. Now, a fascinating new study has given us new information about chickens-it shows that humans can tell if a chicken is happy or sad just by listening to its calls.
For the test, the researchers set up an experiment: they put a bowl behind a door. Sometimes the bowl had the chickens’ favorite food, such as rice or small insects, and sometimes there was nothing in it. When the chickens found food behind the door, they seemed clearly happy and made fast, loud sounds. The researchers named these “food calls.” When there was no food, the chickens expressed their disappointment with low, long noises. The team recorded all these sounds and carefully studied their sound waves (波) to find differences between happy and sad calls.
Next the researchers chose 16 recordings-8 from chickens that found food and 8 from those that didn’t. They played these recordings to 194 volunteers. Surprisingly, 69% of the volunteers correctly judged whether the chickens were happy or sad. And many of these volunteers had no experience of raising chickens at all.
The result shows that humans have the ability to understand chickens’ feelings. And this ability is natural, not something we learn. For the world's chicken-raising industry (行业), this finding could bring new technologies. Some scientists are already working on a smart computer program that can quickly identify (识别) chickens’ emotions through their calls. It helps farmers take better care of their chickens, keep the birds happier and healthier, and even improve the quality of their products. It also reminds us that the emotional connection between humans and animals is deeper than we might think.
23. What did the chickens do when they found no food behind the door?
A. They made fast and loud food calls.
B. They produced low and long noises.
C. They stayed quiet and then walked away.
D. They tried to open the door by themselves.
24. How many volunteers correctly judged the chickens’ feelings?
A. 8 out of 16. B. 69 out of 194. C. About 134 out of 194. D. All of the 194 volunteers.
25. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A. The research team. B. The smart computer program.
C. The chicken’s call. D. The chicken-raising industry.
26. How might the result of this study be useful in the future?
A It could encourage more people to keep chickens as pets.
B. It could help scientists train chickens to make happier sounds.
C. It could be shown that all animals have the same emotions as humans.
D. It could lead to technology that helps farmers understand chickens better.
D
Recently, China’s Shenzhou-20 spacecraft (宇宙飞船) had to put off its return to Earth because a tiny piece of space debris (碎片) hit its window and caused a crack. This reminds us that space is full of unexpected challenges. In fact, even the most basic daily tasks for astronauts can be surprisingly difficult—like using the toilet!
The Astronaut Who Had to Pee (小便) in His Suit
One famous example happened in 1961, when Alan Shepard became the first American astronaut to travel into space. He sat inside his small spacecraft, ready to take off. But some problems kept him waiting for hours. He could not get out, and there was no toilet in his spacesuit. Finally, Shepard told the control center that he really needed to pee. After talking about it, the team on the ground decided that Shepard should turn off the medical sensors (传感器) and pee in his suit. It worked, but he felt very embarrassed (尴尬的).
Today’s astronauts do not have this problem. They wear special absorbent diapers (纸尿裤) inside their suits, which keep them safe and comfortable during long space travel jobs.
Where Does Astronaut Poop (粪便) Go?
Now let’s talk about something else you may wonder about poop. Astronauts on space stations cannot throw their poop outside. In the freezing cold of space, poop would quickly turn into a frozen “poop ice rock”. If one of those hit a spacecraft, it could be dangerous. So instead, all waste is packed into bags and put onto another spacecraft. These spacecraft bring food, water, and other necessary things to the astronauts.
When the spacecraft finish their work, they head back toward Earth, carrying the waste. But they do not land. They burn up in the air and turn into bright lines of fire-like shooting stars (流星)!
So yes, there is a small chance that a shooting star you see might be a spacecraft burning trash, including astronaut poop.
27. How does the writer begin the passage?
A. By telling a funny story about an astronaut.
B. By explaining how to become an astronaut.
C. By sharing recent news about a space problem.
D. By listing all the things astronauts do in space.
28. What happened to Alan Shepard before his flight in 1961?
A. He forgot to go to the toilet.
B. He tested a new absorbent diaper.
C. His medical sensors stopped working.
D. He had to wait for hours and peed in his suit.
29. According to the passage, how is astronauts’ poop finally dealt with?
A. It is taken back to Earth for scientific study.
B. It is changed into water on the space station.
C. It is thrown outside and remains in space forever.
D. It is burned up like a shooting star and disappears in the sky.
30. Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A. Toilet Challenge in Space B. A Late Return to Earth
C. Astronauts’ Exciting Space Life D. The First Astronaut’s Flight

第二部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)
第一节 阅读理解(共15小题,每小题2分,满分30分)
A It can make AI work more quickly.
【答案】16. D 17. C 18.

19 What did Mrs.
【答案】19. D 20. B 21. A 22.

Next, the researchers chose 16 recordings-8 from chickens that found food and 8 from those that didn’t.
A. It could encourage more people to keep chickens as pets.
B. It could help scientists train chickens to make happier sounds.
C. It could be shown that all animals have the same emotions as humans.
D. It could lead to technology that helps farmers understand chickens better.
【答案】23. B 24. C 25. B 26.

【答案】27. C 28. D 29. D 30. A
