第一节(共15小题:每小题2.5分,满分 37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
In skiing, bigger is usually regarded as better. However, the smaller, lesser-known resorts can often have bigger snowfalls, more vertical (垂直的), fewer skiers and better off-piste. Using a minimal number of ski lifts as the definition of “small”, here are the best small ski resorts in North America.
Castle Mountain, Alberta
Lifts:7
Altitude:1,410m — 2,274m
Nestled against the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains, this tiny ski hill gets the heaviest snowfall in Alberta. It provides simple lodging and dining, but is known for its very friendly locals. For those concerned about crowded slopes — which is highly unlikely except on holiday weekends — the resort also offers an affordable snowcat skiing service.
Revelstoke, British Columbia
Lifts:5
Altitude:512m — 2,225m
Revelstoke is proof that the term “small” is all relative. It has only five ski lifts, but also boasts the biggest vertical in North America at 1,713m. Along with huge amounts of off-piste, its annual average snowfall is an impressive 10.5m.The skiing here is superbly varied, and you’ll find an attracting mix of alpine bowls and glades with runs to suit every level of ability.
Grand Targhee, Wyoming
Lifts:5
Altitude:2,393m — 3,006m
Grand Targhee lies in the heart of Rocky Mountain scenery, with amazing scenery across the Grand Tetons. It’s tricky to get to, but it’s worth the effort for the genuine Wild West ski experience.
Silverton, Colorado
Lifts:1
Altitude:3,170m — 4,111m
Although it has just one rickety double chair, it transports you to what is generally regarded as the highest and steepest lift-accessed terrain in North America, at a lung-busting 4,111m.
1. Which resort has the largest vertical drop in North America?
A. Castle Mountain B. Revelstoke C. Grand Targhee D. Silverton
2. What can we know about Grand Targhee from the text?
A. It’s difficult to access.
B. It has the most ski lifts.
C. It has the highest mountain top.
D. It offers luxurious dining services.
3. What advantage may smaller ski resorts have over larger ones?
A. They always have more ski lifts.
B. They are usually located near major cities.
C. They often have more snow and fewer skiers.
D. They provide better services and luxury hotels.

When people talk about “role models”, they usually think of someone successful, at the height of their career or someone they wish to become. For a long time, I measured a role model by these criteria — success and career. But life has taught me a valuable lesson and expanded my view.
Three months ago, after coming back from Iraq, I was searching for a venue to display my photographs. After many applications and disappointments, I finally found a gallery owner who welcomed the idea, Hodgins. The 87- year- old architect has since become one of my closest friends.
Hodgins bears a source of energy and inspiration, completely defying his age. He rides his bicycle to work, attends Yale and contributes to the design of Stanford’s campus. One memorable moment was when he pulled out his iPod Touch and showed me an app that controlled the lights in his gallery. With a press of a button, he switched the lights to“disco mode,” turning the gallery into a vibrant dance floor. His enthusiasm for new technology reminds me that curiosity knows no age.
At his age, Hodgins’s energy, sharpness, passion and curiosity are extraordinary. I found myself wanting to be like him in old age — not confined to a bed, but full of life, pursuing what I love. Hodgins understands that life is limited, so he continues to engage in the activities that bring him purpose and meaning.
From Hodgins, I learned that role models aren’t just examples of professional success. We also need those who remind us that age doesn’t cut off the wings of our pursuit and enthusiasm. They inspire us to take risks, embrace new experiences and stay open to the unknown. Whenever we meet for coffee, Hodgins asks about my travels and responds with words like, “It’s amazing how you’re maximizing your life.” In those moments, I wish I could hold up a mirror, because that’s exactly what he’s doing — making the most of every moment.
4. What was the author’s original standard for a role model?
A. Someone who lives at the moment. B. Someone who helps others selflessly.
C. Someone who is successful in their career. D. Someone who is crazy about technology.
5. What does the underlined word “defying” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. Living up to. B. Appearing older than.
C. Being proud of. D. Acting unexpectedly for.
6. What can we infer about Hodgins from paragraph 4?
A. He prefers a quiet and traditional lifestyle.
B. He believes old age should be a time of rest.
C. He lives with great energy despite his advanced age.
D. He thinks success is the criterion of a meaningful life.
7. What does the author learn from Hodgins?
A. Technology is the key to staying youthful. B. Never hesitate to pursue a successful career.
C. Traveling broadens one’s perspective on life. D. Age shouldn’t limit one’s passions and dreams.
【答案】4. C 5. D 6. C 7. D
【解析】

Blind patients can read and recognise faces again with a “revolutionary” bionic (仿生的) chip, signaling a “new era” for artificial vision.
It is a super- thin wireless microchip, measuring 2 mm by 2 mm, which is inserted under the retina (视网膜) and links to a video-camera on a pair of augmented-reality glasses. The device works with the camera recording the scene in front of the patient, and then AI changes the information to an infrared (红外线的) signal sent to the chip. Upon receiving the signal, the chip stimulates undamaged inner retinal neurons, so they can transmit the signal to the brain, where it is interpreted as vision. The chip insertion takes just a few hours, activated after a month, but it takes patients several more months to learn how to see again using the device.
Dozens of patients who lost their eyesight through age-related macular degeneration (AMD) were fitted with the device on a trial including Moorfields Hospital in London, with more than 80% seeing major improvements. About 600,000 people in the UK suffer from AMD, a number that is expected to increase with an ageing population.
In the new trial, 38 patients who were suffering from geographic atrophy were enrolled in trials across Britain,France, and Italy. After one year of using the system, most participants showed significant improvement in their ability to read letters on a standard eye chart, with an average improvement of 25.5 letters and five lines, and one improving by as many as 59 letters, or 12 lines.
Mahi Muqit, senior consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital, said, “These are elderly patients who were no longer able to read, write or recognise faces due to lost vision. They couldn’t even see the vision chart before. Now they’ve gone from being in darkness to being able to start using their vision again. In the history of artificial vision, this represents a new era. Blind patients are actually able to have meaningful central vision restoration, which has never been done before.”
8. How does the bionic chip help blind patients see?
A. It helps patients learn how to use the glasses.
B. It serves as a stimulus to work on the neurons.
C. It inserts the camera under the patient’s retina.
D. It records scenes and sends signals to the brain.
9. What can we learn about AMD from Paragraph 3?
A. AMD is the leading cause of blindness in the UK.
B. The number of AMD patients may rise in the future.
C. Less than 20% of AMD patients showed no improvement.
D. Moorfields Hospital is the best hospital to conduct the trial.
10. What is Mahi Muqit’s attitude towards the bionic chip?
A. Optimistic. B. Objective. C. Dismissive. D. Doubtful.
11. What is the main purpose of the text?
A. To discuss a social problem. B. To explain a technical challenge.
C. To introduce a medical achievement. D. To compare treatments for eye diseases.
【答案】8. B 9. B 10. A 11. C

“You’re addicted to cheap dopamine and it’s killing your motivation,” Berlin-based TikTok creator Tiziana Bucec said in a video. The video — which has over 2.9 million views — is a part of the nineteen-year-old’s anti-brain rot (腐化) series, dedicated to sharing tips on how to take back your brain. “Maybe today, do one thing that gives your brain a delayed reward — go for a walk, write something or clean your space.”
Bucec is one of a growing trend of Gen Z influencers looking to wrestle with “brain rot” — a perceived mental worsening that comes from constant scrolling.
The average American Gen Z spends over six hours a day scrolling on social media platforms like TikTok, and Instagram. Experts warn that young adults may be experiencing symptoms of accelerated brain aging as a result of too much social media consumption. “Brain rot is not really rotting our brains,” says Earl Miller, a cognitive neuroscientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. “It’s constantly creating an environment that our brains are not equipped to deal with. We’re single-minded creatures and when all this information is coming at us, we want to consume everything and it’s hard to turn off that desire.”
Even the chronically(长期地) online are encouraging their followers to take action against brain rot. TikTok has been flooded with mind maintenance videos, accumulating thousands of views for their cognitive health advice and anti-brain rot tutoring lessons. Digital detox (排毒) tools are also on the rise — from Brick, which blocks distracting apps, to the cozy Focus Friend. Using technology to stay away from social media may seem illogical, but research shows that regulating screen time and selecting the types of digital content you consume is linked to improved cognitive health.
Gen Z’s unplugged movement is gaining popularity, and research is beginning to reveal how off-screen alternatives affects the brain. Experts recommend scheduling intentional social media breaks and even setting a timer to remind you to step away from your device even for a short while.“What I know about the brain is the sooner you get started on protecting your brain health, the better off you are,” says Small.
12. What made Tiziana Bucee post “anti-brain rot” video series?
A. Encouraging people to spend more time online.
B. Criticizing social media for causing brain aging.
C. Promoting the application of digital detox tools.
D. Reducing young people’s reliance on social media.
13. What can we infer about “brain rot” according to Earl Miller?
A. It causes physical damage to human brains.
B. It overloads brains with too much information
C. It is a rare mental disorder among young adults.
D. It can be cured by consuming more digital content.
14. What does the popularity of mind maintenance videos imply?
A. Gen Z’s concern about cognitive health is increasing.
B. Social media platforms are improving content quality.
C. Most young adults are suffering from bad brain aging.
D. TikTok improves the brain’s ability to process content.
15. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Gen Z’s Campaign against Brain Rot
B. A Warning against Using Technology
C. Digital Tools for Health Improvement
D. Bad Effects of Social Media Addiction
【答案】12. D 13. B 14. A 15. A

阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
How to Raise Kids Who Value Wealth and Giving
“What do you want your children to know about money?” It’s a simple question — but the answer has the power to shape your family’s legacy for generations. _____16_____ It’s a mirror of our values, a tool for impact, and a teacher of life lessons. If we want to raise economically responsible and purpose-filled kids, we need to be intentional.
Start early.
_____17_____ Even preschoolers can grasp the idea of money being earned saved, and used with intention. As kids earn a little pocket money or small rewards, they learn to divide their money into meaningful categories. Over time, this builds muscle memory around choices, delayed satisfaction, and generosity.
Connect money to values.
As children grow, so should the depth of your money conversations and try to involve them in real-life decisions. For example, give them a back-to-school shopping amount and let them manage priorities. Most importantly, show them how money reflects values. _____18_____ Teens can spot inconsistency a mile away.
_____19_____
You don’t need to be a financial expert to raise financially wise children. You just need to be open. Share your financial mistakes while keep transparent about budgeting and trade-offs. Kids learn best not by being told — but by being shown. Let money talks happen naturally around the dinner table, during car rides, or while watching the news.
Introduce the joy of giving.
One of the most powerful gifts you can give your child is the habit of generosity. Invite your kids into the giving process, and let them choose a charity to support with their “Give” jar or volunteer together as a family. It will dawn on them that money is more than what you keep. _____20_____
A. Ground it in action.
B. It’s also about what you share.
C. Make it a lifestyle, not a lecture.
D. Young kids are more capable than we think.
E. Money is never just about dollars and cents.
F. It doesn’t need to be big; it just needs to be real.
G. Are your spending patterns in line with what you say?
【答案】16. E 17. D 18. G 19. C 20. B
【解析】
【导语】这是一篇应用文。文章主要讲述了如何培养孩子正确金钱观与奉献意识。
【16题详解】
前文“It’s a simple question — but the answer has the power to shape your family’s legacy for generations.(这是一个简单的问题 —— 但答案却有塑造您家族数代传承的力量。)”提到了对于“金钱”问题的答案的重要性,设空句应解释为什么答案如此重要;而后文“It’s a mirror of our values, a tool for impact, and a teacher of life lessons.(它反映了我们的价值观,是产生影响的工具,也是传授人生经验的导师。)”则讲到金钱涉及价值观,由此推知,设空句应是一个过渡句,承上启下,既要解释重要性,也要强调金钱的深层意义。选项E“Money is never just about dollars and cents.(金钱从来不仅仅是美元和美分。)”
D“Young kids are more capable than we think.(小孩子比我们想象的更有能力。)”正好对应 “尽早开始” 的观点,同时与后文“Even preschoolers can grasp the idea of money being earned, saved, and used with intention.(即使是学龄前儿童也能理解金钱是如何通过劳动获得、如何进行储蓄以及如何有目的地使用的这一概念。)”对低龄儿童金钱认知能力的说明构成进一步解释关系。故选D项。
【18题详解】
前文“Most importantly, show them how money reflects values.(最为重要的是,要向他们展示金钱是如何体现价值的。)” G“Are your spending patterns in line with what you say?(你的消费模式与你的言论一致吗?)”用问句形式点出“言行一致”的要求,提醒家长要以身作则,符合语境分析。故选G项。
【19题详解】
设空为小标题,应是该段的核心主旨。根据后文关键内容“You just need to be open. Share your financial mistakes while keep transparent about budgeting and trade-offs. Kids learn best not by being told — but by being shown. Let money talks happen naturally around the dinner table, during car rides, or while watching the news.(你只需要保持坦诚的态度。分享自己的财务失误,同时在预算规划和取舍问题上做到透明化。孩子学习的最佳方式,从来都不是听人说教,而是看别人示范。不妨让关于金钱的话题,自然而然地出现在餐桌旁、汽车里,或是看电视新闻的时刻。)”可知,该段的核心是“在日常中自然渗透金钱观念,而非刻意灌输”。选项C“Make it a lifestyle, not a lecture.(让它成为一种生活方式,而非说教。)”精准概括了该部分的主旨。故选C项。
【20题详解】
根据该段小标题“Introduce the joy of giving.(介绍给予带来的快乐。)”可知,该段强调“给与”,设空句应该呼应该主旨;同时结合设空前一句“It will dawn on them that money is more than what you keep.(他们终会明白,金钱的意义远不止于你所拥有的数量。)”指出让孩子明白金钱不只是自己拥有的东西,设空句应解释其更深层次的含义,同时呼应主旨“给与”。选项B“It’s also about what you share.(它也关乎你分享的东西。)”在句意上解释了深层含义,且句中“share”呼应主旨,“also”与前文构成递进关系。故选B项。

第二节 满分(25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Tiffany Massey had just moved to the state of Maine last year and lived alone. She enjoyed the beach near the neighbourhood and jogging (慢跑) around in the evenings. It was during one of those evenings that she noticed Mrs Johnson. She’d never forget their first meeting.
Mrs Johnson had a dog named Max. Max almost attacked her one evening if it hadn’t been for Mrs Johnson. “Stop now, or you won’t get any food tonight!” she yelled at the dog from a distance.
“I’m sorry. Max didn’t mean it. He just doesn’t like strangers! You’d better stay away from him!” Mrs Johnson apologized, walking up to her. “Well...” Before Tiffany could say anything, the elderly woman and the dog walked away.
Days later, she was jogging along the beach again when Max barked (狗叫) at her like their first meeting. Tiffany tried to change her route (路线) to escape him. This happened even every time she went for a jog later, and Tiffany had had enough of him!
With weeks flying, things changed a bit as they met more often. Max no longer barked at Tiffany but followed her instead, obviously friendly. Gradually, Tiffany got used to jogging on the beach with Max running after her, and Mrs Johnson watching them run. And they began their conversation and Tiffany began to know about Mrs Johnson, who was in her late seventies and lived alone as well. Or rather, with Max, she was not alone.
One day, Tiffany went for her usual jog, but she didn’t see Max. She felt a bit upset that he wasn’t following her. However, in the following days, Mrs Johnson and Max still didn’t show up on the beach. “Where has he gone? Did they move somewhere?” Tiffany wondered. Mrs Johnson and Max had become a part of her daily routine, and their sudden absence left her uneasy.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】参考范文:
With curiosity, Tiffany decided to figure out what had happened. The next day, she went to knock Mrs Johnson’s door, however, receiving no response. Feeling more concerned, she then asked around the neighborhood. A neighbour mentioned that Mrs Johnson suffered a heart attack several days ago and had been brought to hospital. Tiffany’s heart sank. She quickly called the local hospital and finally found Mrs Johnson, who was resting in her hospital bed, looking weak but delighted to see Tiffany. Mrs Johnson said she missed Max terribly, who had to be left at home alone.
Tiffany offered to take care of Max until Mrs Johnson recovered. Mrs Johnson was more than grateful for her kindness. Over the next few weeks, Tiffany balanced her daily routine with caring for Max. She walked him to the beach, and he quickly connected with Tiffany. She even brought Max to visit Mrs Johnson, whose health gradually improved. When Mrs Johnson finally returned home, Tiffany and Max were there to welcome her. After that, Tiffany, Mrs Johnson and Max were often seen walking along the beach together. Tiffany realized that her move to Maine had brought her more than just a change of scenery — it had given her a new family.
【解析】

A
In skiing, bigger is usually regarded as better.
Revelstoke British Columbia
B

_____17_____ Even preschoolers can grasp the idea of money being earned, saved, and used with intention.

1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
