Emma and Alex were classmates in primary school. Last year, Alex moved to ,London for middle school. Emma wanted to stay in touch with Alex, so she wrote him a letter.
Letter from Emma(Sydney,Australia)
Dear Alex,
It's been a year since you moved to London. I miss playing soccer with you during lunchtime ! I'd like to tell you about my school life. School starts at 8:30 a.m. and finishes at 3:30 p.m. It's always sunny here. After school, I go to the surfing club with my friends. I tried standing on the board for 5 seconds last week. It was hard but super fun.
Our school uniform is white shirts with red skirts for girls and blue trousers for boys.
My favourite subject is history. Right now we are learning about ancient Egypt. It's interesting! How's your school life? Do you still dislike maths? Do you play soccer there? I can't wait to hear from you!
Your friend,
Emma
Hi Emma!
Your school sounds much cooler than rainy London! Things here are different-we have very strict rules(严格的规定)and must wear uniforms with ties every day! I joined the school soccer team. We play indoors when it rains. This year we are learning French. It's really hard! I cannot understand it at all. We can do a video call when you're free.I'll show you my terrible French homework! And yes, I'm still bad at maths.
After classes, I go to the science club. We're building a solar-powered(太阳能的)car!
Your friend,
Alex

Do you have the same problem as Lisa? Maybe you don't want to look silly. Don't worry. Here are some helpful tips.
Everyone has questions. Other kids in your class might be feeling the same way but are also afraid to ask. When you bravely raise your hand, you're helping the whole class. And never forget: asking questions shows you're thinking hard-that's not sillv at all
If asking a question in front of the class is hard for you, try talking to your teacher one-on-one after class. Write your questions down on a notebook or a sticky note before you go. This can help you organize your ideas. Then you can just show it to your teacher and say, "I didn't get this part.Could you help me out?”
Find some friendly, patient classmates and make a study group. You can start by asking a small question like:"Hey, can you help me with this step? I don't get it."Usually, there is less pressure when you're talking with classmates.
1. Why shouldn't students feel silly about asking questions in class?
2. What can a student do if it's hard to ask a question in front of the whole class?
3. Why is there usually less pressure when asking questions in a study group?
