We should all have at least one fire extinguisher somewhere in our homes, offices or classrooms. However, it’s not enough to simply(仅仅) keep an extinguisher somewhere. The best way to be ready for a fire is to study this guide carefully and read it from time to time.
Have a clear exit route(疏散路线). Before using the fire extinguisher, make sure you have a clear exit route. If you cannot put out the fire, you will need to make a safe exit.

Tell the fire station about the fire. Even though the fire seems under control(控制), you should still call the fire station. When the firemen arrive, they can look again to make sure the fire is all out.
Stand back. Face the fire and keep your back to the clear exit. You should stand 1.8 to 2.5 metres away from the flames as you prepare to use the fire extinguisher.
Keep an eye on things. After the fire appears to be out, continue to watch the fire area to make sure it doesn’t start burning again.
