I want to be a boss and manage a big company. 我想成为一名老板,运用一家大公司。 (1)manage意为“管理,负责,应付”,后跟名词、代词。 ※Peter manages a store in the town. 彼得在镇里经营一个店铺。 (2)manage to do sth. 设法做成某事。 ※Mr. Baker managed to find a place where he could park his car. 贝克先生设法找到了可以停车的地方。 (3)management n.管理,经营 ;manager n.经理;管理者 ※ He's responsible for the management of the company. 他负责公司的经营管理。 ※Her father is a middle manager in a computer company . 她爸爸是一家计算机公司的中层管理者。 3. I don’t doubt you would be a good boss。你将会是一位优秀的老板,这一点我深信不疑。 ◉ doubt 作动词,意为“怀疑”,其用法: (1)后常接名词、代词或宾语从句。 ※ I never doubt you; you are an honest boy. 我从不怀疑你,你是诚实的男孩。 (2)doubt后接宾语从句时,如果主句是肯定句,用if、whether 连接;如果主句是否定句或疑问句时,用that连接。在这样的结构中,doubt的意思是“怀疑,不相信,不信任,不能肯定,对……没准”。 ※ I doubt if / whether he is clever. 我怀疑他是否聪明。 ※ I don′t doubt that he will be successful. 我肯定他会成功。 (3) doubt 在肯定句中也可接that 引导的宾语从句,此时它的意思是“认为……未必可能”。 ※ I doubt that Danny will be a good boss. 我看丹尼未必会当个好老板。 ◉ doubt作名词时,常用的固定搭配有:be in doubt不确定,no doubt 无疑,很可能。 ※ There is no doubt at all that he did the right thing. 毫无疑问他做得对。 ※ The success of the system is not in doubt. 这种制度的成功确定无疑。 4. I would invent things that help improve the environment. 我会发明有助于改善环境的事物。 ◉ invent为动词,意为“发明” ;invention为名词,意为“发明,发明物”,inventor 为名词,意为“发明家”。 ※ He has invented a new way of making silk. 他已发明了一种制造丝绸的新方法。 ※I saw many inventions on show. 我看到了许多展出的发明物。 ※What kind of spirit do you need to become an inventor? 成为一名发明家你需要什么样的精神? 辨析 find,discover 与 invent find 找到,侧重于找到过去丢失的人或物,但有时也表示凭经验或偶然发现了一种东西。 They dug five feet and then found water. 他们挖了5英尺便发现了水。 discover 指“发现,找到”某种自然界本已存在,但以前不被人类发现或认识的事物。 Columbus discovered America in 1492. 哥伦布于1492年发现了美洲。 invent 指“发明,创造”出自然界本来不存在的东西。如工具、方法、手段等。 Mr. Smith invented a new teaching method. 史密斯先生发明了一种新的教学方法。 5.
