Are you planning to take your pet on a long trip? On April 8, China Railway Express said that pet owners can now bring their cats or dogs on the same train.
To use this service (服务), pet owners must book tickets at least two days before their trip through the 12306 app. The pet must be a healthy cat or dog. And it must weigh less than 15 kilograms. What’s more, it must be no taller than 40 centimeters at the shoulder. An animal quarantine certificate (动物检疫证书) is also needed.
During the journey, pets are kept in special containers in a separate part of the train, and a railway worker will give water to them. This service is offered on 10 train routes.
The company said that this service meets the increasing need for pet-friendly travel. The 2025 China Pet Industry White Paper shows that 18.7 percent of pet owners spent money on pet travel in 2024, a 4.9 percent increase from 2023.
Many pet owners welcome the service. Wang Shanshan, 27, is one of them. Three years ago, when moving from Wuhan to Beijing, Wang traveled by car with her cat because pets are not allowed on planes and trains. “If such a pet-friendly train service were offered at that time,” she said, “it would have been much faster.”
But there are still some worries. Qin Peixuan, 24, worries about air quality in the closed cabinet (封闭的柜子). She also said that keeping different animals together might not be a good idea. For example, a dog’s barking may make cats feel afraid.
While the service still needs to be improved, it shows a change towards more user-friendly railways. In the future, we may see more services like this to help meet the increasing need in the market. Railways will become a bigger part of daily life, not just a way to travel.

A.To show that this pet-friendly train service comes too late.
B.To show that people don’t like this pet-friendly train service.
C.To show that pet lovers quite like this pet-friendly train service.
D.To show that people also have some worries about this service.
32.What can we infer from the last two paragraphs?

What do you like to drink every day? Do you like cola? If so, you should be careful, because such soft drinks are not healthy. As we know, one soft drink has about 40 g of sugar. Too much sugar is bad for your teeth and eyes and makes you fat.
How about energy drinks? Sporty kids like them a lot. These kinds of drinks have caffeine (咖啡因) in them. They can give you more energy. But don’t drink too many. Once a student wants to do well in his PE test. Hoping to have more energy, he drinks some “Red Bull (红牛)”. As a result, he can’t sleep for the whole night and feels sleepy the next day. Of course, he does badly in the PE test.
So what can you drink? Don’t worry, here are some cool and healthy drinks. Let’s have a look!

Juice. If you don’t like fresh fruit and vegetables, you can drink 100% fruit juice. Just don’t drink too much—about 940 ml each day is fine. When you open a bottle of fresh juice, drink it in one sitting. Remember not to leave it to the next day, because it will go bad easily.

Try to think about this: you sit down and begin to eat a tomato. Suddenly, the tomato starts to shout (喊叫)! This thing would never really happen. But a new study showed that plants make sounds (发出声音) when they are stressed (压力大的). Scientists in Israel did the study. They used ultrasonic microphones (超声波麦克风) to record the sounds of tomato plants in boxes.
They listened to three groups of plants.
The first two groups made sounds 30 to 50 times every hour. The third group only made the sound one time every hour. “When tomatoes are not stressed, they are very quiet,” Lilach Hadany from the study team told CNN.
Scientists think animals may listen to the sounds. For example, they can know the plant is stressed from the sound. And it is not good for laying eggs (产卵) on. When an animal wants to eat plants, it can also use sound to tell which one to eat. If the plants keep quiet, it would like to enjoy the meal. The scientist also listened to other plants like wheat (小麦) and corn. They also made many sounds when stressed. Scientists said the study can help farmers in the future. By “hearing” how plants feel, they can look after them better.
37.Why does the writer start the passage (文章) with tomatoes?
A.To ask you to shout. B.To make you interested.
C.To let you hear the sound. D.To show how to eat tomatoes.
38.What did the scientists in Israel find?
A.When tomatoes are stressed, they are quiet. B.Only the plants in Group 1 are stressed.
C.The plants in Group 3 make more sounds. D.Stressed plants may make many sounds.
39.What may animals do when they meet a stressed plant?
A.They may lay eggs on it. B.They may eat it.
C.They may leave it. D.They may shout with it.

39.推理判断题。根据文章“When an animal wants to eat plants, it can also use sound to tell which one to eat. If the plants keep quiet, it would like to enjoy the meal.”

D.To show that people also have some worries about this service.
32.What can we infer from the last two paragraphs?

D.People will see more user-friendly services on railways in the future.

A.They may lay eggs on it. B.They may eat it.
C.They may leave it. D.They may shout with it.
