Some teenagers have never been involved in organized sports and lots of stress may come into play. If this sounds like your teen, encourage them to try the sport that most attracts them. Here is a list of some of the top favored sports by teenagers in the USA. Basketball: It is the most popular sport with almost half a million girls playing in school teams. And more than 5.8 million boys and girls play competitively, choosing it as their favorite sport and playing in school teams. It’s a good team sport. American football: It is no longer the number one sport played among teenagers, mainly because of the rise of other sports. Some parents believe it to be a dangerous sport but, with the right coach and environment as well as the equipment, it should be perfectly safe to take part in. Volleyball: It is excellent for girls and is a good game to play in a team. It is the fifth favored sport for girls and they get confidence in the sport. It’s also a good idea to involve them in competitive volleyball. Track and field: if your teen likes individual sport, track and field is good to take part in. Track and field includes running, throwing and jumping. Track and field can provide a chance for almost any youth to get out and compete. 1 Which sport is the most popular among teenagers in the USA? B The scene in the stands at Roland Garros’s Court Philippe-Chatrier was dotted with red banners, adding a glow to the already orangey air spreading the red clay court. There were hundreds of Chinese waving flags to support Qinwen Zheng, 21, who would soon take gold by defeating Croatia’s Donna Vekic in the women’s singles tennis final. As she lay down on the dirt, eyes skyward and fists extended into the Paris haze, the win’s gravity seemed to register: This was China’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in this sport. When talking about the Olympics, Zheng said, “I treated the Games differently — the emotion, the fight, the mentality. If you asked me to stay three more hours to fight, I could do it.” Born in 2002, Zheng started playing tennis at age seven. At age eight, she moved alone for better coaching. Since adolescence, she has deeply admired Chinese athletes, such as the tennis star Li Na, who joined the 2008 Beijing Games, and the runner Liu Xiang, who won gold at the 2004 Athens Games. “It was really tough,” Zheng said, looking back at those early days. “My mom used to come visit on weekends. When she left, I would hold her leg and cry. After 13, she decided to stay with me full-time to let me have better growth and care. After that, it got easier. And we moved to Europe when I was 17.” In Paris, Zheng performed exceptionally well on her road to gold, including toppling world number one Iga Swiatek. “With Iga, I was clear,” Zheng said. “I know why I lost to her before. I played, rushed, made too many unforced errors, and wanted to hit faster than her. I wanted to prove my power. But in these Games, I didn’t think like this.” Zheng is conscious, too, of the effects that her milestone achievement in Paris will have. As we wrapped up our chat, she said, softly, “I was reading comments last night and some of them were talking about inspiration, and this makes me feel proud. If you watch my tennis and it brings you some extra strength in your life, that will make me happy.” 4. According to the passage, what is TRUE about Qinwen Zheng? A. She secured the first Chinese Olympic tennis championship. B. She considered all tennis games to be equally important. C. As a teenager, she wanted to go beyond other Chinese athletes. D. She felt confident to live alone at her early days of training. 5. What does the underlined word “toppling” in the 6th paragraph mean? A. Challenging. B. Defeating. C. Discouraging. D. Declining. 6. Which words can best describe Qinwen Zheng? A. Strong-willed and reflective. B. Creative and independent. C. Sincere and ambitious. D. Competent and idealistic. 7. What can we infer from Qinwen Zheng’s words in the last paragraph? A. She takes pride in attaining the Olympic gold medal. B She hopes that her achievement will earn her fame. C. She expects her achievement to motivate more people. D. She feels delighted to read numerous comments on her match. C Think back to your first memory. How old were you at the time? Chances are you can’t remember anything earlier than kindergarten or primary school — nothing about your first words, steps, or solid food other than what your parents have later told you. This phenomenon is called “infantile amnesia”, due to which the majority of adults rarely remember things that happen to them before the age of three. So why is it that we can’t remember being a baby? The answer lies in the way that our brain’s ability to store memories changes as we grow. At birth, a baby’s brain is only a quarter of its adult size, growing to three-quarters the size of an adult brain by age two. This increase is associated with a growth in the number of brain cells — called neurons (神经元) — and the connections between these cells. A part of the brain that is particularly important in forming memories is the hippocampus (海马体), says Dr Dhanisha Jhaveri, a researcher at The University of Queensland. This region stores autobiographical memories from specific events in our lives. “In the hippocampus, new neurons are constantly being created. In adulthood, new cells are still being produced, but the rate of production in the hippocampus slows down,” says Dr Jhaveri. Neuroscientists believe that the rapid rate at which brain cells are being produced in childhood could be the cause of infantile amnesia. Because so many new neurons are being produced and form connections with each other in memory circuits, they might disrupt (扰乱) existing networks of memories that have already formed. Despite this memory loss, childhood experiences have been found to influence adult behaviour years later, which suggests that traces of these memories could be stored somewhere in the brain that isn’t easy to access. In research in animals, scientists have found that latent (潜在的) traces of early experiences remain in the brain for a long time, and can later be triggered (触发) by a reminder. It highlights the important influence of early life experiences on mental and emotional well-being later in life. 8. What is infantile amnesia? A. The inability to form memories during adulthood. B. The inability to recall early experiences. C. The influence on existing memory networks. D. The influence on mental and emotional well-being. 9. What do we learn about the brain according to the passage? A. New neurons disrupt existing memory circuits. B. The hippocampus plays a passive role in one’s memory. C. A baby’s brain is three-quarters the size of an adult brain. D. Brain cells are being produced more rapidly in adulthood. 10. What does the research in animals show? A. Memories are stored separately in their brain. B. Memories are mainly formed when they are young. C. Early experiences have a long-term impact on life. D. Early experiences are easy to be triggered by a reminder. 11. Which of the following is the best title for the passage? A. The Formation of Early Childhood Memories B. The Impact of Infantile Amnesia on Memory Networks C. The Role of the Hippocampus in Memory Formation D. The Influence of Early Life Experiences on Mental Well-being D ChatGPT, designed by OpenAI to carry on conversations just like humans, has become a viral excitement. The AI-powered tool went from zero to a million users in just five days! Its ability to provide in-depth answers to user questions has even drawn the attention of distinguished technology companies. The intelligent robot understands what the user says or types and then responds in a way that makes sense. Its vast body of knowledge has been gathered from the internet and archived books. It is further trained by humans. This makes ChatGPT a useful tool for researching almost any topic. “We have a lot of information on the internet, but you normally have to Google it, then read it and then do something with it,” says Ricardo, chief science officer and co-founder of AI company Erudit. “Now you’ll have this resource that can process the whole internet and all of the information it contains for you to answer your question.” ChatGPT cannot think on its own. It depends on the information that it has been trained on. As a result, the AI tool works well for things that have accurate data available. However, when unsure, ChatGPT can get creative and flow out incorrect responses. OpenAI cautions users to check the information no matter how logical it sounds. Also, ChatGPT has only been trained with information till 2021. Hence, it cannot be relied upon for anything that happened after that. Experts believe ChatGPT has limitless potential to solve real-world problems. It can translate long texts into different languages, create content on almost any topic, and even summarize books. However, ChatGPT has received mixed reactions from educators. Some believe it could serve as a valuable tool to help build literacy skills in the classroom. It could also be used to teach students difficult science or math concepts. But other educators think ChatGPT will encourage students to cheat. They fear this will prevent them from building critical thinking and problem-solving skills. As a result, many districts are starting to ban its use in schools. 12. What is the unique feature of ChatGPT? A. It has artificial intelligence. B. It can answer users’ questions. C. It has the largest number of users. D. It can engage in meaningful conversations. 13. What makes ChatGPT helpful to research various topics? A. Its capability of information processing. B. Its accurate information. C. Its availability of up-to-date data. D. Its vast body of questions. 14. Why do ChatGPT users have to be cautious when using it? A. ChatGPT is unable to think itself. B. ChatGPT lacks creativity. C ChatGPT offers illogical information. D. ChatGPT is not properly trained. 15. What is the author’s attitude towards ChatGPT? A. Favorable. B. Disapproving. C. Objective. D. Intolerant. What To Do When You’re Jealous Of Your Best Friends’ Grades? The moment I stepped through the big iron gates, a feeling of worry came over me. The large campus, with its old buildings covered in ivy and very neatly cut lawns, was really beautiful, but it just made me more nervous. I held my books tightly, and my hands started to sweat as the unfamiliar faces and the strange accents surrounded me like a thick fog that I couldn’t get through. I felt like a lonely traveler in a strange place, really wanting to see something familiar. Along the way, I accidentally knocked into a boy. “Sorry, ”I said quietly, my eyes quickly looking down at the ground because I was too shy to look at him. “No problem,” he answered with a warm and real smile that cut through my uneasiness like a bright light. In that short talk, a little hope started to shine inside me; maybe this new place wouldn’t be the scary maze (迷宫) I was afraid of. When I entered the classroom, the teacher introduced me to the class. I could feel everyone looking at me, and my cheeks turned bright red, as if they were on fire. I quickly sat down, and my heart was beating so hard that it seemed like the whole room could hear it. Would I be able to make friends? Could I do well in the classes? These questions kept bothering me all the time. The bell rang for the first break, and I walked slowly and nervously to the schoolyard, my steps as careful as a baby deer’s first steps in the woods. I looked around, partly hoping to see a friendly face, but also afraid of being refused. Standing alone in the corner of the schoolyard, I watched the other students chatting and laughing. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Just as I was about to give up, the boy I bumped into earlier came towards me. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1-5 CCBAA 6-10 CBABC 11-15 ACAAB 16-20 CBCBB 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $开封市2024-2025学年第一学期期末调研考试 高一英语试题答案 听力 1-5 CCBAA 6-10 CBABC 11-15 ACAAB 16-20 CBCBB 阅读理解 21-23CBD 24-27 ABAC 28-31 DACB 32-35 DABC 36-40 EBFCA 完形填空 41-45 DACDB 46-50 ADBAA 51-55 BBDCD 语法填空 56.as 57.has been recognized 58.a 59.and 60.paintings 61.including 62.experienced 63.who/that 64.took 65.extremely Dear Eric, I was truly delighted to receive the news that you won the first prize in the Chinese calligraphy competition.Congratulations! It is your practice and talent that have led to this outstanding achievement. The cold wind blew hard through the schoolyard, moving the leaves and making me tremble.I crouched closer to the corner, the cold stone wall against my back.Groups of students got together, their active conversations floating in the air,so different from my silence.Worries filled my mind like the spinning deadleaves around my feet. Was it worth it to try to fit in?The greatness of the strangeness seemed impossible to get over.I almost persuaded myself to go back to the empty classroom, but a faint hope held me back. Just as I was about to give up,the boy I bumped into earlier came towards me.With a friendly wave,he closed the distance between us."Come on,let's join the fun!"he exclaimed. His friends nodded in agreement, their faces open and inviting. As we talked,I found myself relaxing. It turned out that we all loved the same books and dreamed of faraway adventures.By the time the bell rang,I was no longer the outsider.I learned that a simple act of kindness could transform a day,and that reaching out was all it took to find my place in this new world. 文中提到“Basketball:It is the most popular sport with almost half a million girls playing in school teams. And more than 5.8 million boys and girls play competitively, choosing it as their favorite sport and playing in school teams.”,说明篮球是美国青少年中最受欢迎的运动。 文中提到“It is no longer the number one sport played among teenagers, mainly because of the rise of other sports.”,可知美式足球不再是青少年中排名第一的运动,主要是因为其他运动的兴 起。 This was China's first-ever Olympic gold medal in this sport.” 故选A。 从第五段中的“In Paris,Zheng performed exceptionally well on her road to gold”可知,郑 钦文击败了一号种子伊加斯维亚特克,故选B。 I treated the Games differently-一the emotion,.the fight,.the mentality.fyou asked me to stay three more hours to fight,I could do it.(我以不同的方式对待奥运会一情绪、斗志和心 态。 I know why I lost to her before.I played rushed, made too many unforced errors, and wanted to hit faster than her.I wanted to prove my power. But in these Games,I didn't think like this.(我知道我之前为什么输给她了。 故选A。 从第六段中的“If you watch my tennis and it brings you some extra strength in your life, that will make me happy.(如果你看我的网球比赛,并且它会给你的生活带来一些额外的力量,我会很高 兴。) This phenomenon is called infantile amnesia',due to which the majority of adults rarely remember things that happen to them before the age of three.”,说明婴儿失忆症 (infantile amnesia)是指无法回忆起早期(通常是三岁之前)的经历,所以D选项正确。 Neuroscientists believe that the rapid rate at which brain cells are being produced in childhood could be the cause of infantile amnesia.Because so many new neurons are being produced and form connections with each other in memory circuits, they might disrupt()current networks of memories that have already formed.” B选项,从第三段对海马体的描述可知,海马体在记忆形成中很重要,不是被动的角色,所以B 选项错误;C选项,原文是“At birth,.a baby's brain is only a quarter of its adult size,.growing to three- quarters the size of an adult brain by age two.”,不是一直是成人脑大小的四分之三,C选项错误;D选 项,原文提到“In adulthood, new cells are still being produced, but the rate of production in the 2/8 hippocampus slows down'',成年后细胞产生速度减慢,不是更快,D选项错误。 文章最后一段“In research in animals, scientists have found that latent(潜在的)traces of early experiences remain in the brain for a long time, and can later be triggered ()by a reminder. It highlights the important influence of early life experiences on mental and emotional well-being later in life." 32.D细节理解题根据第一段中“Its ability to provide in-depth answers to user questions has even drawn the attention of distinguished technology companies.(它对用户问题提供深入解答的能力甚至引起了知名科技 公司的注意)”以及“The intelligent robot understands what the user says or types and then responds in a way that makes sense.(这个智能机器人能理解用户所说或键入的内容,然后以合理的方式做出回应)” 可知,ChatGPT的独特之处是它可以参与有意义的对话。故选D。 33.A细节理解题根据第二段“Its vast body of knowledge has been gathered from the internet and archived books. It is further trained by humans..(它的大量知识来自互联网和存档书籍。它由人类进一步训练。)” Now you have this resource that can process the whole internet and all of the information it contains... 在你有这个能处理整个互联网和它所包含的信息的资源.)”可知,信息处理能力使ChatGPT有助于 研究各种主题。故选A。 34.B细节理解题根据第四段“ChatGPT cannot think on its own..It depends on the information that it has been trained on.As a result, the AI tool works well for things that have accurate data available. However, when unsure,ChatGPT can get creative and flow out incorrect responses.OpenAI cautions users to check the information no matter how logical it sounds. Also,ChatGPT has only been trained with information till 2021.(ChatGPT不能独立思考。这取决于它所接受的训练信息。因此,人工智能工具可以很好地处理 有准确数据的事情。然而,当不确定时,ChatGPT可能会变得有创意,并给出不正确的回答。OpenAI 提醒用户,无论这些信息听起来多么符合逻辑,都要检查。此外,ChatGPT的信息培训只进行到2021 年)”可知,ChatGPT用户在使用时必须谨慎因为ChatGPT本身无法思考。故选B。 35.C推理判断题根据第四段“ChatGPT cannot think on its own.(ChatGPT不能独立思考)”:第五段 “Experts believe ChatGPT has limitless potential to solve real-world problems.(专家认为ChatGPT在解决 现实问题方面具有无限潜力)”以及最后一段“However,ChatGPT has received mixed reactions from educators.(然而,教育工作者对ChatGPT的反应不一)”可推知,作者主要列举了其他人对ChatGPT 的看法,没有提到自己对ChatGPT的态度,故对ChatGPT是客观态度。故选C。 七选五 【语篇导语】好朋友成绩比自己好,应该怎么办呢?本文给你提供了一些方法,可以去尝试一下哟! Yours, Li Hua 5/8 写作第二节 Standing alone in the corner of the schoolyard.I watched the other students chatting and laughing. The cold wind blew hard through the schoolyard, moving the leaves and making me tremble.I crouched closer to the corner, the cold stone wall against my back.Groups of students got together, their active conversations floating in the air,so different from my silence.Worries filled my mind like the spinning dead leaves around my feet. (Text 1) W:This project is going to be difficult, but if we work together,we'll get it done. The thing is that wherever you go in the world, emotions are in more or less the same way people used to think facial expressions with something culturally specific, like language or certain signs. But that isn't actually the case. Expressions are universal. Everyone can identify with a picture showing a look of surprise on a person's face, like someone who's taken a bag when you take their photo, or showing someone looking sad because things aren't going well. Children are great to photograph because they tend not to hide their emotions as much as adults. To my love, this photo I took two years ago, these three kids are obviously having a great time, but the boy looking at the camera is also feeling quite proud and pleased with himself. He's smiling in a rather playful manner, as if to say, look at me. I know IT looks a bit risky and I want to be doing this, but i'm having fun and you can't stop me now.
