Chinese researchers have analyzed big data to find that college students with better
academic performance are more likely to eat breakfast.especially on cold days, according to their
findings published in a British journal.
In the Journal of the Royal Society Interface, they concluded there is a significant positive
link between college students'academic performance and the regularity of campus daily life,in
which having meals and taking a shower on time are two measuring factors.
In contrast to Western countries, teachers and administrators in most Asian countries often
ask students to be self-disciplined both in and out of class."Do routines in life help a student get
better academic performance? We hope to answer this question,"said Zhou Tao,one of the
researchers.
Researchers from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC)
in Chengdu,Sichuan Province collected about 30 million digital behavioral records of 18,960
UESFC undergraduate students in three years. The behavioral records indicate a strong positive
correlation (E)between academic performance and the regularity of campus daily life as
their campus smart cards, which almost every student in Chinese universities owns, cover when
they enter the library, take a shower, wash clothes, pay for meals in the cafeteria and other

activities of daily routines. They are real-name registered and can be used for student
entification as well as a payment medium on campus.
"The students with better performance are more likely to overcome difficulties and stick to
t routines even on chilly mornings. The less the students are affected by weather conditions in
keeping life routines, the more self-disciplined they are and the better grades they can get, said
Gao Jian, another researcher of the study."We are not aiming to ask all the students to live
ading to the same timetable, but to help school administrators detect undesirable, abnormal
vior and give them proper intervention in time. For example, students who are addicted to
o.ne games often have an irregular lifestyle and those who always live alone are more likely to
be depressed,"Zhou added.
28.Who is more likely to have good academic performance according to the text?
A.Tom,who often goes to the library.
B.Cathy, who skips breakfast on cold days.
C.Ken,who never takes a shower unless necessary.
D.Jane, who does things regularly in her daily routine.
29.How did the researchers collect the behavioral records?
A.By credit cards.
B.With questionnaires.
C.By campus cards.
D.With brochures.
30.Which of the following will Gao han agree with according to the text?
A.Teachers in most Asian countries often ask students to be self-disciplined in chass only.
B.Academic performance and the regularity of campus daily life are not necessarily
associated.
C.The research is done to call on all students to live according to the same timetable
D.The less affected by bad weather the students are,the better grades they can get.
31.What is the best title for the passage?
A.Self-discipline contributes to good health.B.Keeping fit makes you successful.
C.Irregular lifestyles may lead to depression.D.Regular campus life helps you get ahead.

In an age when online misinformation is seemingly everywhere and objective facts are
frequently questioned, some psychologists have presented a solution:Expose young children to
more misinformation online-not less.Doing so in limited circumstances, and with careful
oversight and education, can help children gain the tools they'll need to tell fact from falsehood
online, said Evan Orticio,a Ph.D.student in UC Berkeley's Department of Psychology.
"Children are bomn with skepticismc (and they can adapt their level of skepticism
according to the quality of information they've seen before in a digital context,"Orticio said.
"They can use their expectations of how this digital environment works to make reasonable
adjustments to how much they trust or distrust information."
Minors encounter health misinformation within minutes of creating a Tik Tok account.Even
platforms intended for young audiences like YouTube Kids have become spaces for
misinformation. That's a particular problem because parents may have the impression that these
are safe places their kids can explore. That may give a false sense of security and allow falsehoods
and problematic content to go unehecked and be taken as true and acceptable. So encountering
misinformation when children surf online is unavoidable.
If children have some experience working in controlled but imperfect environments where
they are constantly encountering things that aren't quite right, and we show them the process for
figuring out what is actually true and not, that will set them up with the expectation to be more
critical.Orticio said,"Rather than trying to sanitize their online environments, parents should have
discussions with their children about how to check claims and talk about what they're seeing."It's
not that we need to enhance their skepticism. It's that we need to give them the ability to use that
skepticism to their advantage.
32.Why should children be exposed to more misinformation online?
A.To maintain their leve!of skepticism.
B.To help them adjust to misinformation
C.To equip them with fact-checking skills.D.To lower their expectations of information.
33.What mistake do parents probably make according to paragraph 3?
A.Gathering false information online.
B.Creating online accounts for their kids.
C.Robbing their kids of a sense of security.D.Taking imperfect platforms for safe places.
34.What does the underlined word"sanitize"in the last paragraph mean?
A.Adapt to.
B.Rely on.
C.Figure out.
D.Clean up.
35.What should parents offer to help children expiore the online world?
A.Proper guidance.
B.Good digital resources.
C.Prevention strategies.
D.Limited Internet aceess.

I remember being happy for my friend Avery when she won the karate
championship we'd both competed in.But I'm embarrassed to admit I was also pretty envious!
But when she and I tried out for Alice in Wonderland, though, things went the opposite way.
"I really hope I get picked to be Alice,"said Avery.
"You'd make a great Alice!"I said."I don't care what part I get as long as I'm in it.""So
you'd be happy to have a small part like the Dormouse?"she asked.
“Exactly!”'I said.
A few days later,Avery and I raced over to the theater office, where the director had posted
the cast list.
"Wow!"said Avery."You got the part of Alice and I got the part of the Dormouse."
“That can't be right,”I said."There must be some mistake!”'
But I really and truly was given the part of Alice.I'm pretty sure the reason I'd done well is
that I hadn't been nervous at all during the audition ()And the reason I hadn't been nervous
is that it hadn't even occurred to me that I could get the major role
"Do you want to come over after school and we can practice our lines?"I asked.
"You mean practice your lines?"Avery said, not even looking at me.No,thanks.I'm pretty
busy this week.”
“OK,”I said..How about some day next week?
“Soy,”she mumbled.T'm pretty sure I'm busy forever.”
That night at dinner, after my parents congratulated me for getting the lead role, they asked
how I felt about it.
"Well,I'm confused,"I said."Avery was so upset that I was picked to be Alice, she pretty
much threw away our friendship."
"Hmm,said my mum."Arizona, don't you think this might be an opportunity for you to be
an extra-good friend?""Sometimes when our friends do well,we feel envious and don't know
how to act.Try giving her a little time and understanding.I bet she'll come around before too
long.”
Para 1:Over the following rehearsals (Avery kept ignoring me on purpose.
Para 2:She smile,"I think I might be free on Thursday."
