表语从句

1.左栏标注序号并加黑的部分都是表语从句;
2.①③⑤中的连接词that在从句中不作成分,本身也没有意义,只起连接作用;
3.②中的连接词whether在从句中不作成分,意为“是否”,不能换成if;
4.④中的连接代词what在从句中作宾语,意为“……的事情”;
5.⑥中的连接副词where在从句中作状语。

一、概念
在主从复合句中用作表语的从句叫作表语从句。它常位于系动词之后,用来说明主语是什么或怎么样。
二、表语从句的引导词
1.从属连词引导的表语从句
【先感悟】
①The good news is that we Chinese are warm and friendly, so you needn’t worry too much about Chinese customs. (建议信)
②The most important thing is that we individuals should raise our awareness of environmental protection.
③The question is whether your headteacher will agree with what you said. (建议信)
④I feel as if high school life were only yesterday.
⑤If we travel abroad, we prefer to stay in five-star hotels.That’s because they can provide guests with the best service.
【会发现】
(1)that引导表语从句,在句中无意义,不充当 , 省略;
(2)whether引导表语从句,不充当句子成分,意为“是否”, 与if互换;
(3)because, as if/though等引导表语从句,从句表示的情况发生的可能性较小时常用 。

【会发现】
(1)what引导表语从句,在从句中充当 ,意为“所……的”;
(2)who引导表语从句,在从句中作 ,意为“谁”;
(3)whose引导表语从句,在从句中作 ,意为“谁的”。
【善归纳】
引导表语从句的连接代词主要有who, whom, whose, what, which, whoever, whatever, whichever等,在从句中作主语、宾语、表语、定语等。

3.连接副词引导的表语从句

④That’s where the famous astronomer is wrong.

连接副词在表语从句中充当 。
【善归纳】
连接副词where,when,why,how引导表语从句,且在从句中充当地点、时间、原因、方式状语成分。
(1)where引导表语从句,在从句中作地点状语,意为“在那个地方”。
(2)how引导表语从句,在从句中作方式状语,意为“如何,怎么”。
(3)when引导表语从句,在从句中作时间状语,意为“何时”。
(4)why引导表语从句,在从句中作原因状语,意为“为什么”。

①My problem is we can finish such a difficult task in three days.It’s simply impossible.
②The question is he can arrive at the hotel.
③You are saying that everyone has already had equal rights, and this is I disagree.

三、表语从句注意事项
1.why和because引导的表语从句的区别
【先感悟】
①He always finds fault with me and that’s why I get angry with him.
②I get angry with him,and that’s because he always finds fault with me.
③The reason why I get angry with him is that he always finds fault with me.

(1)because引导表语从句时强调 ;
(2)why引导表语从句时强调 ;
(3)reason作主语或主语中包含事件的起因时,后面的表语从句表示原因时,要用 来引导。
【善归纳】

意为“那是……的原因”,强调结果
That’s
because ...
意为“那是因为……”,强调原因

why ...is that ...
意为“……的原因是……”,此处why引导的是定语从句,that引导的是表语从句

2.表语从句中的虚拟语气
【先感悟】
①The most important advice is that you (should) read English books before and after the class.
②My proposal is that you (should) arrange for your assistant to deal with this matter.
【会发现】
以上表语从句的谓语形式是“ ”(should可以省略)。
【善归纳】
在表语从句中,表示间接的命令、要求、请求、建议、决定等,主句中的主语通常是:advice, suggestion, proposal, request, order, desire, demand等,从句谓语形式是“should+动词原形”(should可以省略)。
