Disney World, Not To Be Missed!
Are you still looking for an amusement park to enjoy yourself? Then, Disney World is your best choice! Disney World has four theme parks. A single-day ticket to any of these four theme parks is $67 for adults and $56 for young children above three years. You’ll surely have a fantastic and memorable experience!
Magic Kingdom
This is the original Disney park from which the entire Disney World has expanded. Once you get here, you can pose for pictures with the Disney characters at the entrance. Epcot
Epcot is divided into two sections: World Showcase and Future World. Future World is all about futuristic rides and high-tech attractions like Test Track and Turtle Talk with Crush. World Showcase, which lies along a lake, shows international styles from different parts of the globe, including Germany, Canada, Mexico, China and a lot more.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
You will discover plenty of huge attractions inside this movie park. Indiana Jones, Playhouse Disney Live, Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage, and also the Lights, Motors, Actions Extreme Stunt show are just few of what you need to watch out for. It is also the very best spot for taking pictures with Disney characters.

In Shakespeare’s HAMLET, Polonius asks the prince, “What are you reading, my Lord?” Hamlet replies, “Words, words, words.” Either, as is likely, Hamlet wasn’t interested in what he was reading, or, less likely, he didn’t understand the words he was reading. In this case, Polonius should have lent Hamlet a good dictionary.
Dictionaries are essential tools for people who like to read. There are so many words in English that even the most educated person will sometimes meet an unfamiliar word and have to look it up. Languages keep changing, too, with new words constantly being added and new meanings being applied to old words. For example, the 12th edition of Xinhua Dictionary, the most popular dictionary in China, has added new words such as “chu xin” “fen si” “er wei ma” etc. As for new meanings, “girl” once meant “a small child of either sex”. And “naughty” didn’t mean you were “enjoying playing tricks”; it meant you were poor.
A printed dictionary can’t keep pace with all the changes which is why most dictionaries have websites and apps to help you keep up-to-date. However, I still prefer printed dictionaries because they give you more definitions and more examples of how a word is used. Even a simple word, such as “set”, has 430 meanings (the most of English words) but an online dictionary would only offer two or three. A printed dictionary also gives you the opportunity to discover new words as you run your finger down the page looking for the word you want.
There is no “official” English dictionary, but the Oxford English Dictionary is considered to be the best. For English language learners, however, I would recommend the Collins COBUILD Dictionary for Advanced Learners. Hamlet, by the way, was Danish and a college student. He would have appreciated the Collins Dictionary to help himself with his words, words, words. This dictionary has over 40,000 words and gives you full-sentence definitions with good examples of how words are used.
24. What’s the function of paragraph 1?
A. To introduce the topic.
B. To let the readers know more about HAMLET.
C. To arouse readers’ interest in Shakespeare.
D. To explain when it’s necessary to use a dictionary.
25. Why does the author mention “girl” in paragraph 2?
A. To show how powerful Xinhua Dictionary is.
B. To support the idea: languages keep changing.
C. To prove new words are being added to dictionaries.
D. To imply “girl” also means “boy” in some cases.
26. What’s the author’s attitude to printed dictionaries?
A. Favorable. B. Ambiguous. C. Negative. D. Critical.
27. What’s the author’s purpose of writing the last paragraph?
A. To introduce the history of dictionaries.
B. To call on learners to use dictionaries.
C. To recommend Collins Dictionary.
D. To explain why Hamlet likes Collins.

Many people have fears while traveling abroad. But with so many good places to visit in this world, fears that hold you back are stopping you from wonderful experiences more than they are protecting you. Not being able to communicate can not only be worrying, but sometimes it can even be a bit scary. But don’t let a fear of failing to speak the foreign language inhibit you.
First, try to learn a few words ahead of time, like please, thank you, hello, goodbye. This will go a long way in showing the locals you’re trying. A phrasebook can help, but remember that you may not understand the reply you get.
Second, write down the hotel you chose, and any places of interest you’re planning on visiting. It helps to show a taxi driver or someone you’re asking directions from if you have it written down since it’s possible that you won’t pronounce it correctly.
Third, one of the few words I find to be common is “toilet”. In the US people often ask where to find the bathroom or restroom, but that’s not so easily understood for someone whose native language(母语)isn’t English. But even in the middle of Southeast Asia, people understand the word toilet.
Lastly, try drawing. Andy and I were in a taxi in Izmir, Turkey trying to get to the castle, but the driver didn’t know what we were saying. So Andy quickly drew a castle. The driver laughed and nodded, and then brought us to the castle.
28. What does the underlined word “inhibit” in the first paragraph mean?
A. hurt. B. Change. C. Prevent. D. Protect.
29. What’s the purpose of the author telling us his own story in Izmir, Turkey?
A. To tell us drawing is helpful.
B. To show drawing is easy.
C. To show they were wise.
D. To tell us how to draw.
30. What will you possibly do when you fail to reach a tourist destination abroad?
A. Draw the place to a taxi driver and you’ll be brought there.
B. Ask a taxi driver to write down the place you’ll get to.
C Try to use GPS navigator.
D. Buy a phrasebook.
31. What does the author try to do through the text?
A. Reduce our fear of learning a foreign language.
B. Teach us how to learn a foreign language abroad.
C. Show us how to ask for help in foreign countries.
D. Tell us how to communicate when we tour abroad.
D
Did you know that the color of sports suits can influence(影响) the performance of an athlete? It may sound strange, but a study suggests this might be true.
Two British scientists studied the results of four sports in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games where the athletes had been given either a red or a blue sports suit. They discovered that when there was a big difference in the score, color had no influence on the result. But if it is a close match, the athlete in a red sports suit was more likely to win. Then they looked at the sports suits of the soccer team at the Euro 2004 championship. Again, teams wearing red won more games.
The two scientists got their idea from earlier studies of wild animals. It had been discovered that when a male shows red on its body, it sends a signal(信号) of it power and strength. For example, in many kinds of monkeys, the more the male shows off its red scars(伤疤) the more females it can attract.
Based on (根据) this fact, the British scientists thought that the idea might work for humans, too. According to them, when an athlete sees a competitor in a red sports suit, he gets a feeling that his competitor could be stronger than him. And that kind of feeling may have a bad influence on the player’s performance in the actual game. Although the idea is interesting, most people don’t accept that color signals in the animal world can really be useful to human sports. They think that it is unreasonable to develop an idea based on such a small number of examples. Much more research has to be done to prove(证明) the influence of sports suit colors on the performance of athletes.
32. What did the scientists find out about the 2004 Athens Olympic Games:
A. Athletes played equally well in four sports.
B. Game results had a big influence on the athletes.
C. Athletes dressed in red scored more in a close match.
D. There was a big difference in red and blue team’s scores.
33. What may be the red scars of a male animal suggest?
A. It is quite strong. B. It is a failure.
C. It is more powerful than other males. D. It has attracted a lot of females.
34. The underlined part “ that kind of feeling” in Paragraph 4 refers to a feeling of ________.
A. weakness B. pride C. danger D. shame
35. What is most people’s view on scientists’ idea?
A. Interested B. Satisfied C. Doubtful D. Thankful.
