Chances are that your kids rarely see bills and coins exchange hands. Living in a digital world, it’s difficult for kids to understand what really happens when adults pay for things. The following are some money games for kids that can teach them the different values of bills and coins, how to handle money, and even economics. Buy It Right Age range: Ages 7 to 12 Buy It Right lets kids get hands-on experience dealing with bills and coins while introducing the concept of prices and thinking through whether an object is too expensive or not. Kids set their prices and buy and sell items while moving their piece around the board. Money Match Me Age range: Ages 5 to 8 While not entirely a game, Money Match Me can be a fun way to test kids’ knowledge of coins. One card shows a group of coins needing to be matched with a written description. For example, a picture of three quarters would be matched with a card that says “seventy-five cents”. Money Bags Age range: Recommended for ages 7+ If your kids need practice counting money and telling apart different coins, the Money Bags game can help. As players move along the board, they collect money from the bank. The winner is the person who has the most money when the game ends. Pay Day Age range: Ages 8 and up This classic board game simulates what it’s like to get a paycheck each month while also having financial duties. Players are also able to receive 10% interest on the balance of their savings. The player with the most cash and savings at the end wins. 1. What is the skill focus of Buy It Right? A. Introducing basic business concepts. B. Recognizing different bills and coins. C. Learning to identify and count money. D. Making kids consider prices and expenses. 2. Which money game recommends the youngest age limit? A. Buy It Right. B. Money Bags. C. Money Match Me. D. Pay Day. 3. What do Money Bags and Pay Day have in common? A. Players focus on adding different bills. B. Whoever owns the most money is the winner. C. Kids learn how to budget in a reasonable way. D. Kids are able to receive interest on their savings. B Many ancient populations used inscriptions (铭文) to document different parts of their lives. But the objects containing such inscriptions have been damaged over the centuries. The researchers, led by Alphabet’s AI company DeepMind, developed a new AI-based method which serves as a technological tool to help researchers repair missing inscriptions and estimate the true origins of the records. They call their tool Ithaca. The system is the first deep neural (神经的) network that can restore the missing text of damaged inscriptions. The researchers said it trained Ithaca on the largest collection of data containing Greek inscriptions from the non-profit Packard Humanities Institute in California. Feeding this data into the system is designed to help the tool use past writings to predict missing letters and words in damaged inscriptions. The researchers reported that in experiments with damaged writings, Ithaca was able to correctly predict missing inscription elements 62% of the time. In addition, the tool was 71% correct in identifying where the inscriptions first came from. And when historians work on their own, the success rate for restoring damaged inscriptions is about 25%. But when humans teamed up with Ithaca to assist in their work, the success rate jumped to 72%. Thea Sommerschield from Ca’Foscari University of Venice said the system had already provided new information to help researchers reexamine important periods in Greek history. In one case, Ithaca confirmed new evidence presented by historians about the dating of a series of important Greek decrees (法令). The decrees were first thought to have been written before 446/445 BCE. But the new evidence suggested a date in the 420s BCE. Ithaca predicted a date of 421 BCE. The date change may seem small but it has significant implications for our understanding of the political history of Classical Athens. The team is currently working on other versions of Ithaca trained on other ancient languages. DeepMind has launched a free, interactive tool based on the system for use by researchers, educators, museum workers and the public. 4. What is the function of Ithaca? A. Restoring and identifying damaged inscriptions. B. Interpreting and protecting historical documents. C. Exploring and tracing the origins of Greek letters. D. Collecting and translating past writings into English. 5. What do the numbers in paragraph 3 mainly indicate? A. The inscriptions are of great value to human. B Ithaca helps researchers work more effectively. C. The demand for reading ancient records is increasing. D. The process of repairing damaged writings is complicated. 6. Why does the author mention the case in paragraph 4? A. To show the limitations of Ithaca. B. To support Sommerschield’s statement. C. To explain the history of Greek decrees. D. To prove the importance of dates to historians. 7. What is the passage mainly about? A. The achievements of Greek historians. B. The disappearance of ancient Greek culture. C. A rising trend of studying ancient languages. D. An AI system for repairing missing writings. C The livestreaming and fast delivery industry have attracted so many young people that the industrial sector is short of manpower. “My advice is to encourage more young people to work in the factories and less in the express delivery sector,” Zhang Xinghai, a deputy to the National People’s Congress, China’s top legislature, said during the ongoing NPC annual session. Zhang wants more young people to work in the factories so that China’s manufacturing (制造业) sector continues to flourish. Whatever job young people do is a matter of choice, but the manufacturing sector is facing a labor crunch (短缺) for too many people prefer jobs in other sectors. A survey conducted by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security in the third quarter of 2021 found that of 100 jobs that were facing a manpower crunch, 58 were in the manufacturing sector. By 2025, the shortage in 10 key manufacturing industries could be as high as 30 million. It is time some strong measures were taken to attract people back to the factories. This can be done by raising the salaries of factory workers. According to a survey in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, the annual income of express delivery workers in the city is more than 100,000 yuan ($15,831). In contrast, the average monthly salary of those doing blue-collar jobs in Guangdong in 2020 was just 7,108 yuan, or about 84,000 yuan a year. That gap surely needs to be reduced. Besides, the legal rights and interests of those doing blue-collar jobs need to be better protected. Express delivery workers can decide when they want to work, but factory workers have to work whenever the factory demands. Therefore, the authorities should protect factory workers’ rights to weekends, 8-hour working schedules and paid leave. Also, the promotion and salary growth structure of factory workers must be clearly defined. In a nutshell, to lure young people back to the factories, it is necessary to make blue-collar jobs more attractive. 8. What can we infer from Zhang Xinghai’s words? A. The future of the express delivery sector is hopeless. B. Working in factories in China are attractive to young people. C. Most young people are unwilling to work in the manufacturing sector. D Working as a delivery man is quite easy for young people. 9. What does Paragraph 4 mainly tell us? A. A lot of jobs in China are facing a labor crunch. B. Employment rate in China will be dramatically increased by 2025. C. There are 10 manufacturing industries facing manpower shortage in total. D. The industrial sector is facing a severe labor shortage. 10. Which is NOT the reason for manpower shortage in factories? A. Flexible working hours. B. Lower incomes. C. Undefined promotion structure. D. Unprotected legal rights. 11. What is the author’s attitude towards the current situation of manufacturing industry? A. Indifferent. B. Concerned. C. Unclear. D. Neutral. D Commercial airlines alone contribute around 3% of total global carbon emissions. But the industry is actively looking for green solutions in the form of sustainable jet fuel, and in one case, that fuel may have had a previous life as your household food waste. In a study released this week in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers detail a method of transforming food waste into sustainable jet fuel that can be used in existing engines. Biomass (生物质), such as manure (粪便) and food waste, can be transformed into bio-fuels, which are renewable liquid fuels made from organic matter. Derek Vardon, a senior research engineer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), says that their fuel worked as a mixture of 90% conventional petrol jet fuel and 10% alternative jet fuel required by the industry currently. They also show they could push it to a 70/30 mixture, which will be possible in real world with more time and testing. Major airline companies are eager to get involved in sustainable aviation fuel because some sustainable solutions, such as battery-operated commercial planes, just aren’t possible yet with current battery technology. A battery-powered plane would be too heavy to fly long distances, so fuel that works in the same way as the fuel we have is a simpler way to trade out emission-heavy fossil fuels. Vardon says that because the wet waste used in the process would normally go to a landfill (垃圾填埋场) and break down to release greenhouse gases, the process of making and using sustainable aviation fuel could actually have a negative carbon footprint when scaled up. Commercial airlines are on board to find an affordable and sustainable solution to the carbon-intensive process of air travel. Airlines are looking to hit aggressive sustainability goals by 2050, including decreasing net carbon dioxide emissions by 50%. 12. Which of the following is used for sustainable airline power? A. Fossil fuel. B. Liquid fuel. C. Battery power. D. Biomass. 13. Why are commercial planes still fuel-powered? A. Fuel-powered planes are likely to travel lighter and farther. B. Biofuel is environmentally friendly and sustainable. C. It’s convenient to create the proper fuel mixture. D. Biofuel proves less costly and easier to produce. 14. What does the underlined phrase “on board” in the last paragraph refer to? A. taking off. B. holding a meeting. C. participating in. D. appearing on stage. 15. Which can be a suitable title for the text? A. Alternative Energy to Fossil Fuel. B. How to Get Fossil Fuel Sustainable. C. Changing Food Waste into Airplane Fuel. D. How to Decrease Carbon Dioxide Emissions. When you are looking for a new job, you'll probably get a lot of advice from the Internet and well-meaning friends. ____16____ Some of it may even hurt your chances. With the drama festival approaching, the school’s drama club had released a notice for the dancer audition (试镜) for The Twelve Dancing Princesses. And of course I was the first one to sign up. As I left the stage after my audition at school, I could feel it. The power. The future. I knew that someday when dancers’ magazines wrote about me, they would say this moment was when my rise to a star began. My ballet slippers hurt my feet, but I figured that was helpful. In The Twelve Dancing Princesses, the princesses danced all night so they probably had foot pain, too. My performance was more genuine because of my pain. I needed to show my devotion even when I wasn’t on stage, so I approached Mr. Ellison, the drama club advisor. He told me that casting (角色分配) will be posted tomorrow.“ Thank you, sir,” I said, using the almost British pronunciation of Hollywood stars in the 1940s. I was so sure that Mr. Ellison would cast me as a princess. The next morning, I went to read the cast list. The twelve princesses were first, by number. I scanned from One to Twelve, but none by me. At the bottom of the casting list, my name finally appeared. My role was a really small one, an old woman who helped a soldier, not one of the princesses! I was desperately disappointed. Mr. Ellison must have made a mistake! No one else in the school had my skills or preparation!. I found him in his classroom, but he insisted there was no mistake and emphasized that every role in a play was important. Unable to accept the fact, I burst into tears. Mr. Ellison managed to calm me down and encouraged me to have a try in the rehearsal (排练). The next day, I dragged myself to the rehearsal. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Finally, the great day arrived and “the old woman” couldn’t wait to get on stage. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2027届高二上学期第三次段考 英语试卷 一、第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 做题时,先将答案标在试卷上。 1. B. Ithaca helps researchers work more effectively. 4. A 5. B 6. B 7. But the objects containing such inscriptions have been damaged over the centuries.(许多古代居民使用铭文记录他们生活的不同部分。 和第二段“The researchers, led by Alphabet’s AI company DeepMind, developed a new AI-based method which serves as a technological tool to help researchers repair missing inscriptions and estimate the true origins of the records. They call their tool Ithaca. D。 C The livestreaming and fast delivery industry have attracted so many young people that the industrial sector is short of manpower. D. Working as a delivery man is quite easy for young people. B. Concerned. C. Unclear. D. Neutral. C 9. D 10. A 11. 根据第一段“My advice is to encourage more young people to work in the factories and less in the express delivery sector”(我的建议是鼓励更多的年轻人到工厂工作,更少的在快递部门工作)、第二段“Zhang wants more young people to work in the factories so that China’s manufacturing (制造业) sector continues to flourish.”(张星海希望更多的年轻人到工厂工作,这样中国的制造业才能继续繁荣。)和第三段“Whatever job young people do is a matter of choice, but the manufacturing sector is facing a labor crunch (短缺) for too many people prefer jobs in other sectors.”(无论年轻人做什么工作都是一个选择问题,但是制造业正面临着劳动力短缺的问题,因为太多的人更喜欢去其他行业的工作。) 根据第四段“A survey conducted by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security in the third quarter of 2021 found that of 100 jobs that were facing a manpower crunch, 58 were in the manufacturing sector. By 2025, the shortage in 10 key manufacturing industries could be as high as 30 million.”(人力资源和社会保障部在2021年第三季度进行的一项调查发现,在面临人力短缺的100个就业岗位中,有58个来自制造业。 根据第六段“According to a survey in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, the annual income of express delivery workers in the city is more than 100,000 yuan ($15,831). In contrast, the average monthly salary of those doing blue-collar jobs in Guangdong in 2020 was just 7,108 yuan, or about 84,000 yuan a year. 这个差距当然需要缩小)、第七段“Besides, the legal rights and interests of those doing blue-collar jobs need to be better protected. 和最后一段“Also, the promotion and salary growth structure of factory workers must be clearly defined.”(此外,必须明确工厂工人的晋升和工资增长结构。) 故选A。 根据最后一段“In a nutshell, to lure young people back to the factories, it is necessary to make blue-collar jobs more attractive.”(简而言之,为了吸引年轻人回到工厂,有必要使蓝领工作更具吸引力。) D Commercial airlines alone contribute around 3% of total global carbon emissions. Biomass (生物质) such as manure (粪便) and food waste, can be transformed into bio-fuels, which are renewable liquid fuels made from organic matter. D 13. A 14. C 15. My love for dance began when I was very young and I would dream to be a star dancer from time to time. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】The next day, I dragged myself to the rehearsal, still feeling disheartened. As we began, I watched the princesses dance gracefully, a twinge of jealousy stirring within me. But then, as I started to act out my role, something shifted. Mr. Ellison’s words echoed in my mind, “Every role is important.” Gradually, I immersed myself in the character of the old woman. My lines flowed naturally, and I found a newfound respect for my role. To my surprise, my performance drew applause from my peers. This small role, I realized, could be a powerful one. Finally, the great day arrived, and “the old woman” couldn’t wait to get on stage. As the curtains opened, a rush of excitement filled me. I delivered my lines with conviction, feeling more alive on stage than I had ever been. The audience laughed at my humorous lines, and I felt a sense of accomplishment. When the final curtain fell, the applause was deafening. Mr. Ellison’s words had been right — every role was important. I had found my place in the spotlight, not as a princess, but as an old woman who helped a soldier. And it was enough. 词汇激活 行为类 ①改变:shift/change ②投入:immerse/engage in ③发现:find/discover 情绪类 ①失望的:disheartened/disappointed ②嫉妒的:jealous/envious ③令我惊讶的是:to my surprise/to my amazement 【点睛】[高分句型1] As we began, I watched the princesses dance gracefully, a twinge of jealousy stirring within me.
