On January 8, a big fire called the Sunset Fire burned close to many homes in Hollywood Hills. Vince Brocato and his wife, Candice, were very worried. They had lived in their house for more than 30 years. On that day, they were not home, but they watched the fire using their security camera (安全摄像头).
Suddenly, they saw a stranger appear on their property (房产). Just before that, they had used the camera to scare away someone who they thought might try to steal things. So when they saw this new man, Vince spoke through the camera, “Hello, can I help you?”
The man’s answer left them stunned.
“Yeah, your house is on fire. A firefighter and I have just stopped it!” he shouted.
There were no fire trucks around. The man and one firefighter had acted quickly. They couldn’t go into the patio (露台) because of a locked gate. But they didn’t give up. They found a garden hose (水管) and used it to fight the fire. It wasn’t easy, but it worked. They stopped the fire from burning the house down.
“If our house had gone, the neighborhood would have gone,” Candice said, realizing the full weight of the heroes’ actions.
When the couple came back home, they saw their deck was damaged (损坏). The wood was black and some parts had melted (熔化). But the house was still there thanks to the brave man and the firefighter.

Australian kids made history by sending life-giving algae (藻类) to the International Space Station (ISS). They hoped to create a greener future on Earth. Students from Casula High School cheered loudly at 1:29 pm on November 5, 2024. A SpaceX spaceship successfully lifted off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, carrying two boxes of algae.
The experiment made by students from Casula High School left Earth on the spaceship for a 30-day space task. The students wanted to test if algae can grow faster in space. If their idea is correct, space-grown algae could be used for food, medicine, and biofuels (生物燃料) during space travel—and to improve environments on Earth and Mars.
The algae experiment was a chance for students to work with top technology. Lexie Rouen is a teacher from Casula High School. She said students were excited to work on real world experiments that could actually help their future. She added, “Students were amazed because the experiment was far beyond normal classroom projects.”
Over three years, students from Casula High School have met experts like Australia’s first woman astronaut and NASA scientists. They also used high-tech space tools. They worked together on the algae experiment. They did practice tests on Earth to find the best conditions for algae growth before the spaceship was sent.
“We used to say the sky is the limit (极限) for our talented high school students. But they are showing there is no limit to their abilities,” John Graham, a government worker said. “Casula High's experiment is on the way to the International Space Station. And those students who took part in the experiment could be on their way to a big future.”

A. To find a greener way for traveling in space. B. To provide some plants for the space station.
C. To make the environment of the earth better. D. To test the environment in SpaceX spaceship.
24. What was mentioned about the experiment in Para. 2?
A. Its results. B. Its purpose. C. Its process. D. Its methods.
25. What did the students think of the experiment?
A. It was easy to carry out. B. It was hard to understand.
C. It was useful for the future. D. It was helpless for their learning.
26. What can we learn from John Graham's words?
A. He thought highly of the students. B. He dreamed of traveling in space.

C. It was useful for the future. D. It was helpless for their learning.
26. What can we learn from John Graham's words?
A. He thought highly of the students. B. He dreamed of traveling in space.
C. He expressed thanks to the students. D. He was very proud of his own work.
