Reporter: What is the process of recycling?
Jerry: It starts with taking used materials that can be recycled to your local recycling center. Put them in the correct bin there. These will be reused as materials for a new purpose. Then, a recyclable product is turned back into a basic form that can be used to create a new and different product. Recycling efforts can greatly reduce additional waste that will not only harm the planet today, but future generations as well. The natural resources on our planet are limited, so we must make the most to conserve (节约使用), recycle and reuse whenever possible.
Reporter: What can we recycle?
Jerry: Not all materials are recyclable. Among the items that are recycled are paper towels, cardboard boxes, plastic containers, crayons, etc.
Reporter: Why do you think recycling is important?
Jerry: Recycling our waste makes us more responsible in the way we deal with it. Studies show that people who do this are more likely to cut down on buying things that are unnecessary. They think of how to deal with the packaging after use even before buying them. As a result, people end up saving money while also saving the planet.
Reporter: Oh, that reminds me, waste not, want not.
Jerry: That’s right. Recycling can also help develop communities. Many community groups raise money through reusing and recycling goods. They take our unwanted clothes, furniture and other household items to resell.

You may be wondering, “Why would someone collect art toys?” After all, aren’t toys for kids? Well, that’s what you’d be surprised at. Art toys are much more than simple playthings. They’re pieces of art, rich in creativity and culture. Let’s find out why the collectors are so crazy about them.
The most widely accepted reason for collecting art toys is that each art toy is a special piece of art. It shows the personal style and creativity of the artist who created it. So, when you collect art toys, you’re not just collecting objects—you’re having a collection of modern art! What’s more, many art toys are symbols of popular culture, from movies and music to fashion and street art. These toys give you a fun way to connect with the cultures you love. Besides, collecting art toys can introduce you to a community of collectors. You’ll have the chance to share your love, ideas, and even trade toys with people who share your interest. Last but not least, limited-edition (限量版) toys can increase in value over time, especially if they’re kept in a good shape. Believe it or not, some art toys can even help you make a fortune!
Collecting art toys is not just about having a shelf full of cool toys. It’s about connecting with modern art as well as different cultures, and becoming part of the community. Besides, who knows? You might even get a toy today and that’ll be worth a small fortune in the future! But remember, collecting art toys should always be pleasant and relaxing. Don’t go too far, or it may not be a fun thing anymore.
34.How does the writer lead in the topic?

The Runner Who Refused to Give Up
What do you do when a dream you’ve chased (追求) for years is shattered (摧毁) by an accident? For Tom,the answer was to keep going—one small step at a time.
Tom had loved running since he was a little boy. Inspired by his father, a former runner, he started training at the age of 10. Every morning, he woke up at 6 o’clock to run in the park, rain or shine. After school, he practiced speed drills and endurance (耐力) exercises with his coach. By the 9th grade, Tom was one of the top youth runners in his city, with dozens of medals hanging on his bedroom wall. His biggest goal was to compete in the national youth marathon and make his family proud. The competition was just three months away, and he was in the best shape of his life.
Then disaster struck. During a morning training run, Tom was hit by a cyclist who lost control. He fell hard and hurt his right leg badly. Rushed to the hospital, he underwent surgery and was told by the doctor, “You’ll need to rest for at least six months. Even after recovery (痊愈) running long distances might be impossible for a long time”.
Tom felt his world collapse. He threw his favorite running shoes in the corner, covered his medals with a cloth, and refused to talk about marathons. Every time he tried to stand up, the pain in his leg reminded him of his broken dream. “I’ll never run again,” he muttered to himself, sinking into despair (绝望).
One afternoon, his coach Mr. Lee visited him with a tablet. He showed Tom a video of a disabled runner who finished a full marathon with a prosthetic (假体的) leg. “Dreams don’t disappear because of setbacks (挫折),”Mr. Lee said gently. “They just wait for you to find a new way to reach them. Start small—you’ll be surprised how far you can go.”
Inspired by the video and his coach’s words, Tom decided to give it a try. He started with leg stretches and short walks, then tried jogging for 5 minutes a day, kept a journal to record progress, and adjusted the training plan with his coach’s help, focusing on building strength without overworking his injury.
Months later, as the national youth marathon approached, Tom wasn’t fully back to his old speed, but he was determined (坚定的) to compete. On the race day, he stood at the starting line with butterflies in his stomach. When the gun went off, he ran at a steady pace, remembering every small step he’d taken to get here.
58.What encouraged Tom to restart his running journey?
59.What did Tom do to show his despair after knowing he might not run long distances?
60.Continue to write the story. (No more than 20 words)

Jerry: Recycling our waste makes us more responsible in the way we deal with it. Studies show that people who do this are more likely to cut down on buying things that are unnecessary. They think of how to deal with the packaging after use even before buying them. As a result, people end up saving money while also saving the planet.
Reporter: Oh, that reminds me, waste not, want not.
Jerry: That’s right. Recycling can also help develop communities. Many community groups raise money through reusing and recycling goods. They take our unwanted clothes, furniture and other household items to resell.
