It was to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War (中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利80周年). The theme of the event is “Bearing history in mind, honoring martyrs, cherishing peace, and striving for a better future”. The parade lasted about 70 minutes. The weapons (武器) are all created in China and are now in use by the army. New kinds of tanks, armored cars, drones (坦克,装甲车,无人机), and airplanes were demonstrated as well, which makes clear that China’s army is becoming stronger and more modern. A special part of the parade was the joint military band (联合军乐团). The band had 14 rows of players to stand for the 14-year war, and 80 trombone players to stand for the 80th anniversary. They played famous songs from the war years. It was a powerful way to remember the past. This parade is not just to show military power. It is also a way to say that China loves peace and learns from history. People say the event has shown how China has grown and its promise to help keep world peace. More than 20 foreign leaders attended the event, including Russian President Vladimir Putin (普京) and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un (金正恩). Perhaps he may not be particularly profound to you, but he is very important to China. Deng Jiaxian was born in Huaining, Anhui Province, on June 25, 1924. He entered the Physics Department of Southwest Associated University in 1941. After graduating in 1945, he taught in middle schools and later in the Physics Department of Peking University. In 1948, he was admitted to (被获准进入) the Graduate School of Purdue University in the United States and received a PhD in physics two years later. Nine days after he got his doctoral degree, he stepped onto the ship back to China and started his creative nuclear theoretical (理论的) research. Deng Jiaxian set up classes, giving lessons himself, and organized people to translate and study related foreign language materials. At the same time, he never gave up on his ideas regarding the main direction of atomic bomb (原子弹) development. Following the successful test of the atomic bomb, Deng and his team joined the research group led by Yu Min in 1965 and immediately started designing the hydrogen bomb (氢弹). Within no more than one year, the Deng-Yu Project was submitted (提交), which greatly accelerated China’s hydrogen bomb development and realization. In nuclear experiments, Deng always stood in the front line and never made his colleagues do the dangerous work for him. Unfortunately, he got radiation (辐射) sickness in the early 1980s. But my cousins didn’t think they were better than anyone else, even though they were rich. The reason was that my Uncle John and Aunt Kate made sure they were not spoiled with gifts. The pool was a perfect example of this. One day in the summer, my cousins were bored and hot, so they said to my Uncle John, “Dad, we’re the only kids in this community that don’t have a pool. Can we have one?” “Of course you can,” agreed their father. “A pool it is! It will start tomorrow.” The kids were surprised to see how agreeable their dad was. Early the next day, my uncle woke everyone up and brought them downstairs. “Come on outside! I have a surprise for you.” “Close your eyes.” They did, and he led them to the backyard. “Now hold out your hands,” he said. When they opened their eyes, each of them had been presented with a new spade. A look of surprise came over their faces. Then, their dad said with a smile, “You can have a pool, but you’re going to have to dig it!” At first, digging went slowly. They were tired every day. But as the week passed, they began to see their work take shape. After ten days, they had the pool completely dug out. Then, the workers came and finished the rest of the work. In another week, they had a finished pool. And best of all, they had helped make it. Years later, one of my cousins said to me, “I never asked my dad if I could borrow the car because I was afraid I’d have to build it myself!” 1.Why does the writer give the example of the pool? A.To show that his cousins were raised in a rich family. B.To show his cousins were better than others. C.To show his cousins’ house was large. D.To show his cousins were not spoiled. 2.Which of the following pictures is a “spade”? A. B. C. D. 3.How did the writer’s cousins feel after the pool was completed? A.Tired. B.Proud. C.Relaxed. D.Lucky. 4.What can we learn from the text? A.Children should do what their parents tell them to do. B.Children should play a part in getting what they want. That moment of looking at the glove together, where one person follows the gaze (注视) of another to focus on the same object, is called joint attention (共同注意). It is a key part of how people learn and connect with others. Joint attention involves three basic steps. First, one person starts the interaction (互动) by directing their attention toward something, such as Tim spotting a rainbow and excitedly looking up at it. Second, another person becomes aware of the first person’s focus; for example, Iman sees Tim looking up at something in the sky. Finally, the second person responds by following the first person’s gaze to the object of interest—in this case, Iman moves her attention to where Tim is looking and sees the rainbow as well (Picture ▲ ). When completing tasks or solving problems, it is often said that two heads are better than one, which means that collaboration is better than working alone. But what does “better” mean? In one study, researchers asked pairs of participants to complete a visual search task alone and then together. They found that when the participants worked together, they were faster and more accurate at finding the target (目标), which researchers suggest is “better” performance. Researchers have found that people naturally pay attention to items that other people look at, and one potential (潜在的) reason could be that humans have learned over time that paying attention to what other people are attending to can help us stay safe, communicate better with others, and navigate (适应) the environments. These findings suggest that we might better remember the objects we are jointly paying attention to. In conclusion, joint attention is an important aspect (方面) of human interaction that shapes how people work together and how they remember. Whether people are looking for something they have lost or working on a task with others, paying attention together makes them faster and more accurate, and helps them remember information better. 1.The writer begins the passage by _________. A.explaining a key term directly B.presenting a scientific experiment C.giving a way of looking for a glove D.describing a common situation in real life 2.Which can be put in ▲ in the passage? A. B. C. D. 3.What does the underlined word “collaboration” probably mean in the passage? A.Solving problems quickly. B.Competing against each other. C.Working together with others. C.Humans naturally follow others’ gaze for fun. D.People should notice the environment around. 5.What’s the structure of the passage? A. B. C. D. Li Ting, 15, from Shanghai, was preparing a talk on some western festivals. She searched the web for certain information and made PowerPoint presentations (展示). Wu Qiong, her classmate, was doing his chemistry homework carefully. But he couldn’t work out the last problem even though he tried his best. So he took out his mobile phone, opened a special app (应用软件), and searched for the problem. Answers soon appeared on the screen in several seconds. Nowadays, many students do homework online with the help of the Internet like Li and Wu. They search the web for information, use apps or discuss through QQ or WeChat. “It’s convenient. You don’t have to wait for your teacher to explain it to you face to face,” according to Wu. “You can also learn by seeing how others work it out. What’s more, it improves students’ abilities. And it’s especially true for new kinds of homework. I am quite skilled at finding information online and using Microsoft Office.” However, this trend (趋势) also causes problems. Some lazy students just copy the answers online without thinking. Even some ask their classmates to do homework for them. And their teachers don’t know the fact. Anyhow, knowing how to use the Internet is important. The key is to have good self-control. When you come across (遇到) a difficult problem, think about it by yourself first. Be sure to understand the reasons behind the answers after you have turned to the Internet, or you won’t make progress. If you are not sure about your self-control, ask your parents for help. 根据材料内容选择最佳答案。 1.What homework was Wu Qiong doing? A.Physics homework. B.Chemistry homework. C.Science homework. C.A new way of learning. D.A new computer app. Free time is a good chance for teenagers to have fun. What about free time with parents around? Some teenagers want free playtime without their parents’ supervision (监管) while parents and experts may think differently. Lin Tao, a middle school student, thinks teenagers should be free to play. “Last time I played with my parents around, I was nervous and just couldn’t enjoy myself to the fullest,” Lin says. “And my friend Chen Xiaoxin has similar experiences. Once, he went out to play with his classmates. Everyone felt uncomfortable under his mother’s supervision.” Wang Min, a mother of a 14-year-old boy, thinks playtime needs supervision. She explains, “People usually say I like to control my kid, but that’s not true. I am just worried that he will get into trouble. Some guys may have a bad influence on him and some games may mislead (误导) him. He might even get indulged in the games and can’t get back to real life.” Mr. Ma, a doctor of social studies, says it’s understandable for teenagers to wish for freedom. Free play helps them to be independent. Parents can give them more space. They don’t have to supervise them all the time. However, teenagers should find out the exact details (细节) about the activities before playtime. Then they can communicate with their parents and decide together whether they can go out to play alone. 1.According to the text, free time is a good chance for teenagers to ________. A.study hard B.have fun C.get into trouble D.mislead parents 2.How does Lin Tao support his own idea? A.By listing numbers. B.By raising questions. C.By comparing facts. D.By giving examples. 3.What do the underlined words “get indulged in” in Paragraph 3 mean? A.Get lost in. B.Get interested in. C.Be tired of. C.A boy’s parents should be around every time he plays with his friends. D.A boy should talk to his parents about the exact details before playtime. 5.Which is the right structure of the passage? (①=Paragraph 1 ②=Paragraph 2, …) A. B. C. D. When you finally finish your work and get to relax, what do you do? Do you lie on your bed and run your finger through your phone? Many people find that this kind of entertainment only bring boredom and emptiness. Different from what many people may think, play isn’t just wasting time. Having the ability to play and relax meaningfully during your leisure time is important. “Leisure doesn’t improve the quality of life unless you know how to make good use of it.” James Wallman, the writer of Time and How Spend It explains that some experiences are “junk experiences” while others are like “superfoods”. He also points out that “superfood” activities help you live in the present and achieve a higher leisure quotient (LQ, 玩商). LQ is an index (指数) used to describe one’s ability to relax and play. A high LQ usually means that a person has good control over his life, and knows how to keep a balanced lifestyle that makes him healthier and happier, according to China Daily. Research shows that people with high LQ scores feel happier and generally avoid being down and other mental illnesses. At the same time, another famous scientist also points out that those who can play will succeed. Instead of doing passive activities like watching short videos, people with high LQ scores choose active activities that suit their interests, giving them continuous positive reflections. According to Wallman, examples of this positive reflections include: an unforgettable story you can share with others, a new skill, a different world view, improved relationships and so on. 1.The underlined word “it” in Paragraph 2 refers to ________. D. 4.According to the passage, who probably has the lowest LQ score? A.Susan who is leaning how to cook. B.Susan who plays soccer after school. C.Tony who keeps everything to himself. D.Tom who often shares his trip experiences. 5.After the last paragraph, the writer will probably ________. A.encourage us to improve LQ B.share some people’s LQ scores C.write about some passive activities D.tell us the importance of “superfoods” How do you spend your spare time? There will be different answers to it. Most people in Poland have their own ways to spend free time. Sometimes they just want to have a rest, but they try to do something more pleasant most of the time. They have many different hobbies, which help them to get away from their everyday problems and spend their free time happily. Many Polish people like traveling. They look for new places that they have never been to and add new and exciting experiences to their journey. Some of them like to climb mountains, others like to go to the sea or a lake to swim, because these can make them exercise more and are good for their health. Many Polish people also like to do sports in their free time. They are usually crazy about football, and football is regarded as the Polish national sport. Many football fans may support a certain team, so they go to watch every match of the team they support, and they buy many things that have something to do with the team. Watching sports and doing them are both good ways to relax. What’s more, doctors say that doing sports is very good for the health. Many people in town, especially young men, often go to the gym to attend the exercise classes to keep fit. Besides these ways, Polish people have many other ways to spend their free time. B.We can have many ways of spending our free time. C.A doctor can give you good advice. D.There is no need to do sport activities. Researchers at Pennsylvania State University chose 45 healthy overweight people who agreed to try three different kinds of diets. Their study appeared on Wednesday in the Journal of the American Heart Association. One was a low-fat diet that included lots of fruits, low-fat dairy products, and small amounts of red meat. The other two were moderate-fat diets. That is, the fat they included was not very high or very low. The kinds of foods and meals were similar to the low-fat diet, but they included more nuts and oils. The only difference between the two was the avocado—a pear-shaped fruit with a thick green or dark purple skin. One diet included a daily serving of one avocado, and the other diet had the same amount of fat from other sources. At the end of the study, the researchers found that the avocado diet led to a big, noticeable drop in LDL compared with the other two diets. LDL is the bad kind of cholesterol (胆固醇), which is found in your blood. Too much LDL in your body may cause heart disease. “I was surprised to see the added advantage of the avocado,” said Penny Kris-Etherton, a nutrition (营养) scientist at Penn State and the lead author (作者) of the study. She says she’d like to do further research to explain the added drop in LDL in the study groups. It’s possible that the fiber (纤维) in avocados may play a role in lowering the cholesterol, she says, “In the U.S., most people do not eat an avocado every day because of its high prices. Some people have it with chips,” Penny added. But one caveat for anyone who loves avocado dip (酱): When it’s served up with chips, the calories can add up. Calories show how much energy food will produce. A half cup of avocado dip has about 200 calories all on its own. 1.What can we learn about the three kinds of diets? A.The low-fat diet mainly included nuts and oils. B.The avocado diet included three avocados a day. C.All three diets had totally different kinds of foods. D.The moderate-fat diets probably had milky products. 2.The study shows that the avocado ________. A.always causes heart disease B.makes people put on weight C.can reduce the level of LDL D.is a good source of nutrition 3.What Penny said in Paragraph 4 shows her ________. A.doubt B.excitement C.sadness D.kindness 4.What does the underlined word “caveat” probably mean? A.Joke. B.Choice. C.Pity. D.Warning. 5.The main purpose of the text is to ________. A.report a research result B.introduce a kind of fruit C.describe the avocado dip D.ask people to go on a diet Recently, a new snack has become very popular across China—it’s milk skin candied hawthorns (奶皮子糖葫芦). It mixes Inner Mongolia’s milk skin (奶皮子) with northern China’s traditional candied hawthorns. Many young people line up to buy it, even when it’s cold outside. In Hangzhou, the line for this snack is more than 300 meters long. In Shanghai, one stick of it costs 98 yuan. This snack has quickly become a hot topic among people. What makes this snack so special? Traditional candied hawthorns are just hawthorns covered with sugar. But this new snack adds soft milk skin to the hawthorns. It has a wonderful taste: the sweet and sour flavor of hawthorns goes well with the rich milk smell. Its texture (口感) is also great: the soft milk skin and crispy (酥脆的) sugar coat go well together. Young people are really interested in this new combination. However, the snack also causes arguments. Some people say it’s an “IQ tax (智商税)”, because it’s much more expensive than common candied hawthorns. But young people still want to buy it. They think waiting in line is a “sense of ritual (仪式感)” in their busy daily lives. They take photos of the snack and share them online, getting likes and praise from friends. This snack’s popularity shows the innovation (创新) of traditional food. Old foods don’t need to stay the same. When we add new ideas to them, they can get new life. Milk skin candied hawthorns tell us that creativity can make old snacks popular again among young people. 1.What is milk skin candied hawthorns made of? A.Milk and apples. B.Cheese and strawberries. C.Milk skin and traditional candied hawthorns. D.Butter and oranges. 2.How long is the line for the snack in Hangzhou? A.About 200 meters. B.Exactly 300 meters. C.More than 300 meters. D.Over 400 meters. 3.Why do young people still buy the expensive snack? A.Because it is very cheap. B.Because they think waiting is a ritual and like sharing it online. C.Because their parents ask them to buy it. D.Because they have to eat it every day. 4.What does the word “combination” mean in Paragraph 2? A.A mix of different things. B.A kind of interesting game. C.A short and nice story. D.A popular English song. 5.What’s the main idea of this passage? A.How to make traditional candied hawthorns? B.A popular new snack and the things behind its popularity. C.The history of milk skin in Inner Mongolia. D.How to get more likes when sharing photos online. How fast can someone climb 15 meters—the height of a five-floor building? The answer from Chinese speed climber Cao Long is 4.98 seconds. The 23-year-old climber is the third person to have finished the speed climbing route (竞速攀岩路线) within 5 seconds. The other two are Indonesian athletes Kiromal Katibin and Veddriq Leonardo. The records of Katibin and Leonardo are 5 seconds and 4.90 seconds. People call Cao “the fastest man in China” or “Chinese Spider-Man”. According to Cao, the result of speed climbing can change every time because it’s a highly stressful race where two climbers compete at the same time. It’s also a sport that finishes in seconds. If you want to succeed, everything has to be immaculate. Cao tried climbing at the age of 8. Like many kids who first got into climbing, Cao was mainly doing bouldering (抱石) and lead climbing (先锋攀岩) . He was doing very well. However, he got injured and had a surgery (手术) at the age of 18. He then decided to try speed climbing because it uses different skills from bouldering and lead climbing and puts less pressure on his body. So far, China has successfully sent a large number of satellites (卫星) and spaceships into space. Space scientists have been greatly inspired (赋予灵感) by the old stories and ancient famous people when giving them names. Since thousands of years ago, Chinese people have dreamed of going to the moon. Chang’e Flies to the Moon is one of the most popular stories. As you can see, China’s first man-made satellite to circle around the moon was named Chang’e I. More interestingly, the moon rover (巡视器) was named after the Jade Rabbit, who is the partner of Chang’e in the story. These old stories carry people’s best wishes and dreams. With the development of science and technology, our scientists have made them come true. Kuafu Runs After the Sun is another story to show how much ancient Chinese people wanted to know about the unknown world. Now, Kuafu is going with the scientists to “visit” the sun, because we have a space project called Kuafu Mission. Besides the ancient stories, space scientists also get ideas from ancient famous people. For example, Mozi, an ancient scientist, discovered that light travels in a straight line over 2,000 years ago. His discovery made space study take a big step at that time. So, China’s first quantum (量子) science satellite was named Mozi, making China the first country in the world to achieve quantum communication between satellites and the ground. From such simple things as giving names to the satellites, we can see how great our traditional culture is and what influence it has on our modern science and technology (科技). 1.In China, space scientists get ideas from ________ when naming satellites. ① old stories    ② traditional projects        ③ ancient famous people       ④ popular inventions A.①② B.①③ C.②④ D.③④ 2.What do we know about Chang’e I according to the passage? A.It moves around the moon. B.It protects the Jade Rabbit. C.It “visits” the sun with the scientists. D.It is the world’s first man-made satellite. 3.How does the writer support his opinion in Paragraph 4? A.By listing numbers. B.By comparing facts. C.By giving an example. D.By reporting a result. 4.Which is the right structure of the passage? A. B. C. D. 5.What’s the writer’s purpose for writing the passage? A.To spread the traditional Chinese culture. B.To explain how our scientists develop the space industry. C.To introduce the achievements in our science and technology. D.To tell how traditional Chinese culture influences our space science. If Confucius—the great old thinker—were still alive today and could celebrate his September 28th birthday with a big cake, there would be a lot of candles. He’d need a fan or a strong wind to help him put them out. While many people in China will remember Confucius on his special day, few people in the United States will give him a passing  thought. It’s nothing personal. Most Americans don’t even remember the birthdays of their own national heroes. But this doesn’t mean that Americans don’t care about Confucius. In many ways he has become a bridge that foreigners must cross if they want to reach a deeper understanding of China. In the past twenty years, the Chinese study programs have gained huge popularity in Western universities. More recently, the Chinese government has set up Confucius Institutes (孔子学院) in more than 80 countries. These schools teach both Chinese language and culture. The main courses of Chinese culture usually include Chinese art, history and philosophy (哲学). Some social scientists suggest that Westerners should take advantage of the ancient Chinese wisdom to make up for the drawbacks (缺点) of Westerners’ philosophy. Students in the United States, at the same time, are racing to learn Chinese. So they will be ready for life in a world where China is an equal power with the United States. Businessmen who hope to make money in China are reading books about Confucius to understand their Chinese customers. So the old thinker’s ideas are still alive and well. Today China attracts the West more than ever, and it will need more teachers to introduce Confucius and Chinese culture to the West. As for the old thinker, even if few can remember his birthday, he will not be forgotten by people in the West. 1.How does the writer start the passage? A.By telling a story. B.By showing facts. C.By giving an example. D.By imagining a picture. 2.What’s the writer’s attitude (态度) towards spreading Chinese culture to the world? A.Worried. B.Angry. C.Confident. D.Upset. 3.Why does Chinese government set up Confucius Institutes in foreign countries? A.To learn about western national heroes. B.To find out drawbacks of Westerners’ philosophy. C.To teach Chinese language and culture. D.To teach languages and histories of other countries. 4.What can we infer (推断) from the passage? A.Confucius’ ideas will help more Westerners understand Chinese better. B.Most Americans will celebrate the birthdays of their own national heroes. C.Businessmen in the United States will make no money in China. D.Confucius’ birthday will be always remembered by Westerners. 5.What’s the best title for the passage? A.Big Fans of the Big Hero. B.Old Thinker with a Big Future. C.Forgotten Wisdom in America. D.Different Cultures All over the World. On September 3, 2025, China had a big military parade (阅兵) in Beijing. They lived in a fancy (豪华) house. A.report a research result B.introduce a kind of fruit C.describe the avocado dip D.ask people to go on a diet 【答案】1.D 2.C 3.B 4.D 5.A 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了宾夕法尼亚州立大学的研究人员对三种不同饮食的研究,重点探讨了牛油果饮食对降低低密度脂蛋白(LDL,即坏胆固醇)水平的作用,以及相关的营养学观点和注意事项。 1.细节理解题。根据文章第二段“The other two were moderate-fat diets…The kinds of foods and meals were similar to the low-fat diet, but they included more nuts and oils.”以及“One was a low-fat diet that included lots of fruits, low-fat dairy products, and small amounts of red meat.” 根据文章第三段“At the end of the study, the researchers found that the avocado diet led to a big, noticeable drop in LDL compared with the other two diets.”可知,研究表明牛油果饮食能显著降低LDL水平。因此,C选项“牛油果能降低LDL水平”是正确的。故选C。 3.推理判断题。根据文章第四段“‘I was surprised to see the added advantage of the avocado,’ said Penny Kris-Etherton…”可知,Penny对牛油果的额外益处感到惊讶,这表明她对此感到兴奋。因此。故选B。 4.词句猜测题。根据文章最后一段“But one caveat for anyone who loves avocado dip: When it’s served up with chips, the calories can add up.” A。 Recently, a new snack has become very popular across China—it’s milk skin candied hawthorns (奶皮子糖葫芦). It turned out that Cao was great at speed climbing as well, even though he thinks he is hardly the strongest athlete. He understands how to use his body to win. “I know how to better divide power to different parts of my body,” Cao said. In his eyes, the national record of 4.98 seconds has become a thing of the past. “I’ll keep trying to do better and be better,” said Cao. 1.How fast can Cao Long climb 15 meters? A.5 seconds. 根据文章开头“If Confucius...were still alive today...there would be a lot of candles. He’d need a fan...”可知,作者通过假设和描绘一幅生动的画面(想象孔子吹蜡烛的场景)来开始文章。故选D。 2.观点态度题。根据文章后半部分,如“Today China attracts the West more than ever, and it will need more teachers...”“he will not be forgotten by people in the West.”等表述,可以看出作者对向世界传播中国文化的前景持有积极、乐观的态度。故选C。 3.细节理解题。根据第4段“the Chinese government has set up Confucius Institutes...These schools teach both Chinese language and culture.”可知,设立孔子学院的目的就是教授中文和中国文化。故选C。 4.推理判断题。根据文章整体内容,尤其是“In many ways he has become a bridge that foreigners must cross if they want to reach a deeper understanding of China.”以及文章末段,可以推断孔子的思想将帮助更多西方人更好地理解中国。故选A。 5.最佳标题题。文章核心讨论了古老的哲学家孔子在当代世界,尤其是跨文化交流中的持续影响和未来意义。“Old Thinker with a Big Future”准确概括了这一核心。故选B。 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
