文体类型:以“项目/活动说明类应用文”为主(如项目招募、活动指南),偶见机构实习/课程介绍;
主题方向:贴合“青年成长、文化体验、社会参与”,既覆盖本土文化(如胡同导览),也涉及国际项目(如青年领袖计划);
1. 通讯方式:Tel. (telephone number), Ph. (phone), Add. (address)等;
2. 时间:Jan. (January), Mon. (Monday), hr (hour)等;
3. 公司名称:Co. (company), Ltd. (Limited)等;
4. 计算单位:max (maximum), min (minimum), doz (dozen) , ft (foot), mi (mile), p (pence)等;
5. 称呼:Prof. (Professor), Dr. (doctor), MA (Master Of Arts)等;
6. 方位地点:S (south), N (north), Sta. (station), Rd. (road)等;
7. 其它:vs (versus), Xmas (Christmas), info (information), VIP (very important person),
aft (after), ad (advertisement), p/t (part time), exp (experienced), PC (personal computer), pop (popular), CV (curriculum vitas简历), No. (number)等。
1. 陌生词汇: 应用文中人物、地点、场所、机构等专有名词比较多。除此之外,还有比较多的缩略词,阅读时会让考生眼花缭乱、草木皆兵,觉得到处都有自己不认识的词;
2. 长短句式: 应用文中长句特别长,短句又特别短 (祈使句、省略句),阅读时长句会让考生丈二和尚摸不着头脑,短句又让考生弄不清深浅;
3. 叠加信息: 应用文中为了强调主要信息,作者利用附加成分 (如: 从句、介词短语、非谓语动词短语等) 对主要信息进行叠加,让考生阅读时主次不分、顾此失彼;
- 项目类:Eligibility(参与条件)→ How to Apply(申请方式)→ Deadline(截止时间)
- 活动类:Schedule(日程)→ Venue(地点)→ Notes(注意事项)
- 原文:“submit the form via the official website”
- 选项对应:“fill in the application online”

The app store is flooded with astronomy-based apps that can help guide you towards celestial(天体的)wonders. But what if you’re ready to look deeper into the night sky using a telescope? Nobody wants to make a big investment, and then aimlessly scan the stars trying to find an object. Help is needed. Thankfully, there is a solution to that.
Celestar is a leader in the world of telescopes and its StarSmart Explorer app and dock have been designed to run on its telescopes. The free StarSmart Explorer app uses information based on precise location and time to tell you which stars and planets can be seen in the night sky.
How it works
Connect the phone with the telescope and select your intended celestial target. The phone will be held over an integrated mirror, so that star patterns can reflect off the mirror and into the phone’s camera. StarSmart Explorer processes the information and your telescope will adjust accordingly, placing the target in the middle.
As well as locating your desired target, StarSmart Explorer holds detailed information about your chosen object. Listen to an audio presentation while you observe. The app will even give you observing tips on how to get the best view.
Why it's special
Most astronomy apps use a smartphone’s compass to estimate its position. The pointing accuracy of a smartphone has margin for error. Precision matters when it comes to stargazing.
StarSmart Explorer is the only astronomy app to use modern plate solving technology to find its target, and it claims a typical pointing accuracy of 0.25°.The app takes a picture of the night sky and matches the star pattern within the image to its internal database . It’s similar, in essence, to facial recognition.
Plate solving would normally require specialised technology, such as sensitive imaging camera, lens and astronomical software, all at great cost. The StarSmart Explorer app is free and works well with StarSmart Explorer telescopes, starting from f299.99.
If you're ready to take a deeper dive into astronomy, Celestar's StarSmart Explorer technology will make a fine companion. You can discover more at www.celestar.com/starsmart.
21.StarSmart Explorer can help
A. decide observation B. locate stars precisely
C. record observation duration D. find unknown planets
22.StarSmart Explorer is unique because
A. it matches different types of telescopes
B. it uses a smartphone’s built-in compass
C. it is powered by advanced technology
D. it is equipped with the latest database
23.What is the purpose of this passage?
A. To introduce a set of equipment B. To promote a stargazing produce
C. To recommend a science project D. To present an astronomical discovery

In a recent survey, over half of first-year college students wished they had worked harder in high school. Taking challenging classes in high school, such as honors and college-level courses, builds new skills and prepares you for college. They are exactly what admissions officers like to see on applications.
Experience a Different Approach
Here’s a brief overview of some of the classes that may be available to you:
• Honors classes usually cover similar material as regular classes, but at a faster pace or more deeply than regular classes.
• College Board’s AP Program offers college-level classes that help students develop and apply skills, such as reading critically, solving problems analytically, and writing clearly. More than 30 classes are available.
• The IB program offers college-level classes that stress developing your thinking skills and an awareness of global issues.
• College courses may be available for you to take while still in high school, either at your school or on a college campus.
Find Your Passion
Courses like these can introduce you to topics and ideas not covered in the regular classroom. You may even discover the subject that will become your college major or the focus of your career.
Prepare for College
Showing that you’ re willing to push yourself by taking demanding classes in high school can help when you’ re applying to college. The level of courses you take now is one of the first things colleges look at.
In addition, college courses, IB classes and exams, and AP Exams may lead to college credits, advanced placement, or both in college. This means you may be able to skip some basic college courses and move directly into interesting, advanced classes. This also may allow you to free up enough time to pursue a double major or study abroad.
21. Which of the following highlights global consciousness?
A. Honors classes. B. AP Program. C. IB programs. D. College courses.
22. Which could be the benefit of taking challenging classes?
A. Graduating with honors. B. Boosting academic possibilities.
C. Broadening career prospect. D. Ensuring admission to colleges.
23. The passage is intended for _________.
A. first-year undergraduates B. career advisors C. summer school organizers D. high school students

The Summer Science Program (SSP) is a unique immersion experience with a strong culture that has evolved over more than half a century. It is designed to challenge and inspire talented and motivated high school students from around the world. Here, young people discover their limits, and then overcome them by working together. Through informal interactions with faculty, participants receive guidance on college and major selection, helping them become more reflective applicants.
There is no application fee. While a program fee exists, need-based aid funded by our generous donors allows participants from lower-income families to attend at a fee they can afford.
◆ What to Expect
Unlike traditional coursework, the program offers hands-on opportunities, allowing participants to do science, not just learn about it. Working in teams of three, they tackle real-world challenges while developing critical skills like time management.
Classroom and lab sessions are scheduled six days a week. Classroom time centers on building a foundation in experimental science and the team’s specific research topic. Each team studies its own target, performing the research from data collection to final reporting.
The program also includes a Guest Lecture Series, featuring presentations by renowned scientists and trained professionals who offer valuable scientific insights and experiences.
Upon completion, the program provides a letter of participation (not an evaluation), though participants may request recommendations from faculty. The program operates under a Code of Honor, with no tests or grades.
◆ How to Apply
Once you begin your application, we recommend considering the following:
Online submission of final research track choice by deadline
Full participation without other programs during the program
A statement of research expectations demonstrating your personal motivation for the program and outlining what you hope to gain from it
The only academic precondition is to complete specific courses needed for the program for a grade and credit by June 2025. We do not require AP or advanced level classes and self-study does not qualify. We will not collect or consider standardized test scores for admission for 2025(including PSAT, ACT/SAT, and APs).

文体类型:以“项目/活动说明类应用文”为主(如项目招募、活动指南),偶见机构实习/课程介绍;
主题方向:贴合“青年成长、文化体验、社会参与”,既覆盖本土文化(如胡同导览),也涉及国际项目(如青年领袖计划);
1. 通讯方式:Tel. (telephone number), Ph. (phone), Add. (address)等;
2. 时间:Jan. (January), Mon. (Monday), hr (hour)等;
3. 公司名称:Co. (company), Ltd. (Limited)等;
4. 计算单位:max (maximum), min (minimum), doz (dozen) , ft (foot), mi (mile), p (pence)等;
5. 称呼:Prof. (Professor), Dr. (doctor), MA (Master Of Arts)等;
6. 方位地点:S (south), N (north), Sta. (station), Rd. (road)等;
7. 其它:vs (versus), Xmas (Christmas), info (information), VIP (very important person),
aft (after), ad (advertisement), p/t (part time), exp (experienced), PC (personal computer), pop (popular), CV (curriculum vitas简历), No. (number)等。
1. 陌生词汇: 应用文中人物、地点、场所、机构等专有名词比较多。除此之外,还有比较多的缩略词,阅读时会让考生眼花缭乱、草木皆兵,觉得到处都有自己不认识的词;
2. 长短句式: 应用文中长句特别长,短句又特别短 (祈使句、省略句),阅读时长句会让考生丈二和尚摸不着头脑,短句又让考生弄不清深浅;
3. 叠加信息: 应用文中为了强调主要信息,作者利用附加成分 (如: 从句、介词短语、非谓语动词短语等) 对主要信息进行叠加,让考生阅读时主次不分、顾此失彼;
- 项目类:Eligibility(参与条件)→ How to Apply(申请方式)→ Deadline(截止时间)
- 活动类:Schedule(日程)→ Venue(地点)→ Notes(注意事项)
- 原文:“submit the form via the official website”
- 选项对应:“fill in the application online”
III.

答案:A
解题思路:定位原文第一段内容 “The top 10 selected photos will be exhibited and featured in UN communication materials”,选项A中 “display the best photographs” 是该句内容的同义替换,因此表述正确。
解题思路:定位原文“评选标准”板块中的“Creativity and originality”,其对应的内容为“focuses on the uniqueness of the perspective and the innovative reflection of the themes”,选项D“presents original viewpoints on climate crisis(呈现关于气候危机的原创视角)”与该内容完全契合。
答案:A
解题思路:定位原文“提交指南”板块的内容,其中明确提到 “Each submission must include... brief description (50-100 words) explaining the photo’s context and relevance to the theme”,选项A中的“brief introduction”是原文“brief description”的同义替换,属于提交要求之一。

D “Guide people in the right direction” 是该职责的同义表述,因此正确。
Volunteer Code of Conduct and Ethics 板块,其中提到 “if you cannot appear for or complete the shift... cancel your registration at least one week prior to the scheduled role or shift”,选项D “Cancel the registration at least 7 days in advance if they cannot come” 与原文内容完全一致,因此正确。

解题思路:定位原文第一段最后一句 “the farm provides students across disciplines with hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture”,句中“hands-on experience” 等同于选项里的 “experience in person”(亲身实践体验),因此该选项表述正确。
答案:A
解题思路:定位原文 CSA Program Membership 板块,其中明确列出会员权益包含 “Receive newsletter featuring garden updates and recipe suggestions”,“newsletter featuring garden updates” 对应选项中的 “latest news about the gardens”(菜园的最新动态),因此该选项正确。

解题思路:定位原文 Chinese Language & Culture 项目的内容,文中明确表述 “By living with a host family, you have the opportunity to form deeper connections with the local people”,即入住寄宿家庭是帮助学生与当地人建立紧密联系的方式,因此选项B正确。

StarSmart Explorer “uses information based on precise location and time to tell you which stars and planets can be seen in the night sky”;另一方面,它采用底片定位技术,“claims a typical pointing accuracy of 0.25°”,这两点都说明该应用能精准定位星星和行星,与选项B表述一致。
解题思路:定位原文 Why it's special 板块,文中明确指出 “StarSmart Explorer is the only astronomy app to use modern plate solving technology to find its target”,且这种技术通常需要昂贵的专业设备,而该应用将其平民化,可见其独特性源于先进的底片定位技术,选项C表述正确。

In today’s fast-paced digital world, many of us struggle with distraction and burnout. It’s challenging to stay focused and productive with constant interruptions and the pressure to manage multiple tasks. Therefore we bring to you—The Sukha app.

This productivity software silences distractions (干扰), plays focus music, and starts a pomodoro timer (番茄计时器) with just a click. Sukha ensures you stay on track and finish your work faster.
Features of Sukha
Phone Distraction Elimination (消除)

For example, by adding your Calendar, you ensure that you’re on time for any upcoming online meetings. Productivity isn’t limited to the platform but extends to integrated apps. You have a complete system to work smarter. This doesn’t happen elsewhere but within Sukha.
Sukha Pricing
We are excited to announce that Sukha now offers a 14-day free trial for all new users. After the conclusion of your 14-day trial, you will be automatically moved to the Basic Plan at no cost. However, if you wish to continue with the Pro Subscription, you need to pay $10 per month.

Sukha)

解题思路:定位原文第二段核心描述 “Sukha is a productivity-boosting focus app that helps you complete tasks more efficiently”,句中 “productivity-boosting” 和 “complete tasks more efficiently” 直接对应选项C的 “enhance working efficiency(提升工作效率)”,这是该应用的核心目标。
解题思路:定位原文 Sukha VS Other Productivity Apps 板块,文中明确指出其他效率应用“tend to work in isolation(倾向于孤立运行)”,而 Sukha 的独特之处在于 “You can integrate other apps into the platform(可以将其他应用整合到该平台)”,选项D的表述与此完全一致。
解题思路:定位原文 Sukha Pricing 板块,文中清晰说明 “After the conclusion of your 14-day trial... if you wish to continue with the Pro Subscription, you need to pay $10 per month”,即试用期结束后,若用户选择专业版订阅,需每月支付10美元,选项C的表述符合原文。

B “To protect ICH in a sustainable way” 是该目标的同义表述,因此正确。
答案:A
Focus of the Case Studies 板块的第一个问题 “What roles does ICH play in identifying, assessing and monitoring climate change?”,句中的 “assessing” 与选项A中的 “evaluating” 为同义替换,说明“非物质文化遗产在评估气候变化中的作用”属于案例研究的重点,因此该选项正确。
解题思路:定位原文对案例研究的要求 “involve the widest possible participation of the community, groups or individuals”,句中 “the widest possible participation” 等同于选项B的 “maximize public participation”(最大化公众参与),因此该选项正确。

解题思路:定位原文志愿者权益部分的描述 “Gain a deeper understanding of how organizations in Boston approach social issues in the communities”,句中 “approach social issues” 与选项D的 “addressed social issues” 为同义表述,说明志愿者可通过项目了解社会问题的解决方式,因此该选项正确。
答案:A
解题思路:定位原文 2024-2025 CVP Community Partners 板块中 Camp Harbor View 的介绍,文中提到该机构 “builds targeted pilot programs, such as Guaranteed Income Program, to address the acute needs of families”,即会推出针对性试点项目满足部分家庭的迫切需求,选项A的表述与此一致。

If you have any questions, please read our FAQ or visit our website www.ourssp.org.
