They begin their blog posts with greetings: “Ni hao!”, ”Hello!” and “Ahlan!” (2) Why do they use these expressions at the beginning of the blog posts? Because these expressions reflect their culture. They show where they are from. (3) Where are they from? Li Mengtian is from China. Neil is from the UK. And Femi is from Egypt. (4) Why do the bloggers use photos in their blog posts? They use photos to make their blog posts more interesting. (5) In which person(第几人称) do the bloggers write their blog posts? Why? They all write their blog post in the first person(第一人称). It is much easier for them to show their love for their homes, and it also makes the blog posts feel more personal. (6) What are the features of a blog post? It is usually personal and informal. It can be in the form of text, photos or text with photos, and it can be written in the first person. Situation: In your group, you are a blogger form somewhere in the world, just like Li Mengtian, Neil or Femi. You need to interview(采访) other “bloggers” to learn about different lives and homes. What to do: Choose one in your group to be the “blogger” who will answer questions, the others are the “reporters” who will interview other “bloggers”. Share your discoveries: The reporters should tell the blogger what they interview, then work together to make a report and share in class. For reporters: "Where do you live?" First, we interviewed "Emma". She lives in a small town in Canada. Her family lives in a big house with a garden. She likes the garden best because she can play with her dog there. She often helps her father water the flowers. Her family likes to have barbecue in the garden on weekends. Then, we interviewed "Ken". He lives in Tokyo, Japan. His home is a small flat in a tall building. His favourite thing is the small balcony. He likes to look at the city lights there at night. He often chats with his sister and listens to music in the living room. Our Interesting Discovery: We found that Emma loves her garden in a house, and Ken loves his balcony in a flat. They live in different types of homes in different countries, but they both have a favourite place to relax and enjoy time with their family. Home is a happy place for everyone!
