Week by week her list grew: I was very thin, I wasn't a good student, I talked too much, I was too proud, and so on. I tried to hear all this as long as I could. At last, I became very angry. I ran to my father with tears in my eyes. He listened to me quietly, then he asked. ''Are the things she says true or not? Janet, didn't you ever wonder what you're really like ? Well, you now have that girl's opinion. Go and make a list of everything she said and mark the points that are true. Pay no attention to the other things she said. '' I did as he told me. To my great surprise, I discovered that about half the things were true. Some of them I couldn't change (like being very thin), but a good number I could—and suddenly I wanted to change. For the first time I go to fairly clear picture of myself. I brought the list back to Daddy. He refused to take it. ''That's just for you, '' he said. ''You know better than anyone else the truth about yourself. But you have to learn to listen, not just close your ears in anger and feeling hurt. When something said about you is true, you'll find it will be of help to you. '' Our world is full of people who think they know your duty. Don't shut your ears. Listen to them all, but hear the truth and do what you know is the right thing to do. Daddy's advice has returned to me at many important moments. In my life, I've never had a better piece of advice. 4. What did the father do after he had heard his daughter's complaint? A. He agreed with her "enemy". B. he let her continue to put up with her "enemy". C. He told her not to pay attention to what her "enemy" had said. D. He told her to write down all her "enemy" had said about her. 5. What does "Week by week her list grew" mean? A. Week by week she discovered more shortcomings of mine and pointed them out to me. B. She had made a list of my shortcomings and she kept on adding new ones to it so that it was growing longer and longer. C. I was having more and more shortcomings as time went on. D. Week by week, my shortcomings grew more serious. 6. Why did her father listen to her quietly? A. Because he believed that what her daughter's "enemy" said was mostly true. B. Because he had been so angry with her daughter and wanted to keep silent C. Because he knew that his daughter would not listen to him at that moment. D. Because he was not quite sure which girl was telling the truths. 7. Which do you think would be the best title for this passage? A. Not an Enemy, but the Best Friend B. My Father C. The Best Advice I've Ever Had D. My Childhood C A new study, a project of the researchers from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, finds that a fitness tracker (健康追踪器) probably does not help with weight loss. The trackers are designed to record your physical activity. They are usually worn around the wrist (手腕), where they record a person’s heart rate. The research team looked at two groups of individuals. The first wore a fitness tracker and took part in health consultation (咨询) with experts for the best weight-loss plan. The researchers compared this group with people who only got health consultation. The study found that those only speaking with the health experts lost nearly 6 kilograms, but those using a fitness tracker lost only 3.5 kilograms. John Jakicic, the lead researcher, questioned the use of these trackers for weight loss. The study involved 470 subjects aged between 18 and 35. Some of them were overweight, while others were considered obese (肥胖的). Over three fourths of the subjects were women. All the subjects were told to increase physical activity and go on a low-calorie diet. They had their weight measured once every six months. After six months, researchers divided the subjects into two groups: one continued with monthly consulting, while members of the other group were given a fitness tracker. Eighteen months later, both groups showed great improvements in fitness, physical activity and diet, with no big difference between groups. However, when it came to losing weight, the people who only spoke with experts lost nearly twice as much weight. Jakicic said, “The study’s findings are important because effective long-term treatments are needed to deal with America’s obesity.” “More information is needed,” he added, “to learn how to best use these trackers to help adults who want to lose weight.” 8. What were both groups of people in the study asked to do? A. Go on a high-calorie diet. B. Wear a fitness tracker. C. Record their heart rates. D. Consult experts. 9. What can we infer about the study mentioned in the text? A. The study went on for about two years. B. More than 120 men took part in the study. C. Health consulting makes little difference to weight-loss. D. There are great differences in health between both groups. 10. Which of the following is TRUE about fitness trackers? A. Wearing a fitness tracker is useful for keeping slim. B. Fitness trackers might be effective if used in a better way. C. The present fitness trackers cannot record data accurately. D. Fitness trackers should be immediately given up as a weight-loss tool. 11. What’s the purpose of the text? A. To compare two different weight-loss methods. B. To explain the advantages of health consultation. C. To report the findings of a study on fitness trackers and weight loss. D. To encourage the use of fitness trackers combined with expert advice. Many people travel to enrich and enjoy themselves. It is not a question that can be answered by words, but by the actual deeds. A boy with the name Henry gave us a good example. Ronny and Henry were two friends in the same class. They always played together and went home together. One day as Ronny and Henry were going home after school, they saw some people fighting in the street corner, Ronny said excitedly, “Some people are fighting! Let’s go and have a look!” But Henry refused, “It is none of our business. We’d better go home and don’t get close to them. Also our parents are expecting to have dinner with us together at home and I don’t want them to worry about me.” “You are a coward (胆小鬼) and afraid to go,” said Ronny, and off he ran to the spot with some other boys. Henry had to go home alone and didn’t think about it anymore. But Ronny thought Henry was a coward and told all the boys that. They laughed at him a great deal. From then on, they looked down upon Henry and didn’t want to play with him. Henry was sad but he wasn’t angry with Ronny for his rude behavior, because he had learned that true courage was shown most in bearing (容忍) misunderstanding, and that he ought to be afraid of nothing but doing wrong. Thus, he did not care the other boys’ laughter and continued to stick to his thought and go to school and study as well. However, Ronny didn’t invite Henry to go home with him anymore. Instead, he had his new friends who also thought Henry was a coward. Every day after school, they didn’t go home directly but went to the river or somewhere to play games and had lots of fun. Paragraph 1: One Saturday afternoon, Henry went to see his grandparents along the bank of the river. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: When Ronny was pulled out of the river, he went up to Henry and lowered his head, knowing nothing to say. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 蚌埠市B层高一2025—2026学年度第一学期考试 高一英语 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 1. 8. D 9. A 10. B 11. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】例文 One Saturday afternoon, Henry went to see his grandparents along the bank of the river. Suddenly a shout for help came from the river and several children were at a loss, gathering nearby. Henry rushed to the spot where he could see a boy rising and falling in the river. A boy told Henry it was Ronny who slipped into the river just now. Without hesitation, Henry found a long stick and jumped into the water, meanwhile, giving the stick to Ronny. Ronny caught hold of the stick, swimming towards the bank of the river. When Ronny was pulled out of the river, he went up to Henry and lowered his head, knowing nothing to say. Henry patted him on the shoulder and said, “You should be cautious when playing by the river.” “Henry, You are still my good friend, you are not a coward, but a brave boy. I apologize to you for my rudeness,” whispered Ronny. Henry smiled at him, saying, “We are always good friends, I never regard you as a stranger.” The sun was setting in the west, throwing golden sunshine on the river and the hugging boys. 道歉:apologize to/make an apology to ②对……微笑:smile at/grin at/beam at ③拥抱:hug/embrace 情绪类 ①不知所措,茫然:at a loss/in a daze ②谨慎的:cautious/prudent 【点睛】【高分句型1】Henry rushed to the spot where he could see a boy rising and falling in the river.
