Unit 4 The Wonders of Nature

Last summer, our family visited several wonders（奇观）of the world. Our first stop was the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the ocean. We learned that its depth（深度）is over 11,000 meters below sea level（水平）. Scientists use special vessels（大船）to dive（潜水）and do research（研究）there. It’s an unusual（不寻常的）place where few have reached the bottom（底部）.

Next, we traveled to Angel Falls, the highest waterfall（瀑布）in the world. It’s located in a remote area, and the only means（方式）to get there is by plane and boat. The development（发展）of tourism there is still slow.

We also visited the Sahara Desert（沙漠）, where the temperature can rise to 50 degrees（度）. The conditions（条件）are so harsh that few plants can survive
