①When you do your homework, you may often meet some problems. What will you do? Tom, a middle school student, will take out his smartphone, go online and look for answers.
②Nowadays, many students do homework in the same way as Tom. “It is fast and easy,” Tom says. “You also learn by seeing how others work them out. It’s very helpful for our study,” says John, another student. He says it is especially true for some kinds of homework.
③John’s Chinese teacher often asks students to give reports on great writers in class. When it comes to John’s turn, he usually goes online, looks for stories and makes a PPT. “I never take any lessons, but I’ve become very good at finding information online and using the computer,” John said.
④However, many people think doing like this also brings problems. Some students just copy (抄袭) the answers online without thinking. In the end, they become lazy.
⑤Head teacher Mr. Wang in Tom and John’s school thinks that knowing how to use the Internet is important. The key is to have good self-control (自我控制). “When you meet a difficult problem, think about it by yourself first. Remember not to use the Internet too much,” the teacher said. “Be sure to understand the reasons behind the answers, or you won’t learn anything at all. If you can’t do well in self-control, ask your parents for help.”
