第四部分 写作 (满分35分)
第一节(15分)
Dear Editor,
I'm writing to tell you whether we should study abroad. Different people have different opinions about it.
People who hold a positive attitude believe that studying abroad is a good way for students to improve themselves. Not only will they have a better language environment to study English, but also they can learn to live independently. What's more, studying abroad can help students broaden their horizons and gain more knowledge about different cultures. However, other people have different opinions. They hold that studying abroad can cost an arm and a leg, which becomes a burden for some families. They also worry that students who study abroad may feel lonely and homesick.
As far as I'm concerned, studying abroad is not necessary. With the improvement of the educational environment in China, students can also receive education of high quality in our motherland.
Looking forward to knowing your opinion.
Yours, Li Hua
第二节(20分)
Paragraph 1:
“Do you mean that every flower has its own beauty?” asked my mother thoughtfully. I nodded without hesitation, as if a second waste could threaten the life of dandelions. “And that is true of people too," she added, her voice soft. “Not everyone can be a rose, and it is also an honor to be a dandelion.” Relieved that my mother had guessed my pain, I took off the mask that I had worn for the whole lunch time and poured out my upset heartily.
Paragraph 2:
Having learned what had happened, Mom patted me on the back gently and said, “But you will be a beautiful narrator.” She reminded me of how fluently I could deliver my part at home. It was at that time that I understood that maybe I was more suitable for a role backstage like a narrator, From then on, I practiced my lines heart and soul with my mother at lunch time for weeks. Eventually, the performance that night was a big success. Hearing the thunderous applause, I took pride in my role and firmly believed that even a dandelion had its own beauty.

Katherine Johnson,a hero to American space travel and exploration, was born on Aug.26,1918,
in White Sulphur Springs,West Virginia. Her genius for math and science was evident early and her
parents arranged for her and her siblings'education to be a priority.
Katherine graduated from high school at only 14 and attended West Virginia State College,a
historically Black college. When West Virginia decided to quietly integrate its graduate schools in
1939,West Virginia State's president,Dr.John W.Davis, selected her and two men to be the first
Black students offered spots at the state's flagship school,West Virginia University.

In 1953,in a time of racial separation, she started a job as a human "computer"with the National
Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA),which later developed into NASA.She worked in the
West Area Computing section at Langley Research Center on a team headed by fellow West Virginian
Dorothy Vaughan. This turned into a permanent position and set the course for Katherine's role in
space exploration.
In 1960,she and engineer Ted Skopinski coauthored Determination of Azimuth Angle at Burnout
for Placing a Satellite Over a Selected Earth Position,a report laying out the equations (
describing an orbital spaceflight in which the landing position of the spacecraft is specified. It was the
first time a woman in the Flight Research Division had received credit as an author of a research
rep ort.
Her expertise was key to John Glenn's orbit around Earth in 1962,with Glenn putting much of his
confidence in Katherine to make the mission a success. As a part of the preflight checklist,Glenn
asked engineers to "get the girl"-Johnson-to run the same numbers through the same equations
that had been programmed into the computer, but by hand,on her desktop mechanical calculating

Many international students studying abroad in America have several supposed ideas about
American culture. After visiting the country, many international students showed the culture shock
they received in America. Here are some culture shocks in America that most of the international
students came across.
It's surprising to note that kids, the youth and adults refer to each other with their first names. This
is a very uncommon sight. Many international students might find it surprising and take time to adjust
to this tradition.
Another culture shock is that,in America, there could be only one or two classes a day.Usually,
they're conducted in the afternoon or in the evening. This means the students get enough time to sleep
late, wake up around noon and have time for different chores().Besides,having convenience in
the schedule of classes, students also enjoy long hours of breaks.
Among the many culture shocks in America, multiple languages are quite common there. Many
international students would move to America, believing that the only language is English. However,
that's not the case. The citizens commonly speak languages such as Spanish,French,German,Chinese
and others. So if you're comfortable with any of the above-mentioned languages, you might get
surprises.
Many intemational students are used to using kilograms, meters, liters, degrees centigrade as the
units of weight, length, volume, temperature. But they might be confused to see a different metric
system in America,There, pounds, feet and Fahrenheit are usually used as units for measurements.
This system is quite puzzling to comprehend at the beginning for many international students.
Many international students might find various culture shocks in America depending on the
background they come from. Thus, they may need a long time to adjust themselves to the unfamiliar
environment.

28.What may make international students surprised at school?
A.Adults are often referred to with their titles.
B.Kids refer to adults with their family names.
C.The number of classes is fewer than expected.
D.Students can freely do different chores in class.
29.Why do international students care little about language barriers in America?
A.English there is easy to understand.
B.All of them can speak English fluently.
C.There are several other official languages.
D.They may be able to use their native languages there.
30.What does the underlined word "they"refer to in paragraph 5?
A.Systems.
B.Units.
C.Americans.
D.International students.
31.What is the best title for the text?
A.Multicultural Experiences Are Waiting for You
B.International Students Are Welcome to America
C.Culture Shocks International Students May Experience in America
D.Reasons Why There Are a Large Number of Culture Shocks in America

Chinese researchers have developed a 3D hand-shaped microrobot measuring about 40
micrometers, smaller than the diameter of a human hair,to achieve precise movements such as the
grasping, delivering, and releasing of particles or cells, according to a research article published in the
International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing.
Microrobots play an essential role in early medical checks and accurate treatment, given
increasing demands for better control over tools in bio-medicine and micromanipulation.Microrobots
can do this well,so they help doctors find patients'health problems earlier and provide treatments that
fit each patient.
However, the research says most microrobots have a problem,in which they are currently made
of a single material system, with their production process focused on a driving module as the main
structure. This makes it hard for one microrobot to combine various functions, which are necessary for
第7页(共14页)
completing complex jobs.
To fix this, researchers from the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese
Academy of Sciences (CAS)created this hand-shaped microrobot. As CAS explained, when using the
robot, researchers first put it in a liquid. When the surrounding pH value changes, the microrobot's
"palm"unfolds or folds like flower petals-just like your hand pulls back automatically when
touching hot water.Guided by a magnetic field, this microrobot can avoid obstacles and target
particles or cells..When the liquid turns acidic(酸性的),its“palm”shuts to hold the target tightly.
Then the robot turns and adjusts its direction to take the target to the right place. When the liquid
becomes alkaline(碱性的),the"palm”opens again to release the particles or cells.
Researchers say this robot may soon be used to control cells, cany drugs for accurate treatment,
and even help protect the environment.
32.What can we learn about the 3D hand-shaped microrobot
A.It can perform precise actions like grabbing cells.
B.It has a wide range of applications in industry.
C.It has a diameter equal to that of a human hair.
D.It was first reported in a Chinese scientific journal.
33.Why can't most current microrobots finish complex tasks?
A.They are made of some complex materials.
B.They can't work in the liquid environments.
C.Their single-material design limits them to a single function.
D.Their production process overemphasizes the driving module.
34.What can we infer about the palm"of the microrobot
A.It has the same softness as a human hand
B.Its movement is related to the liquid's pH.
C.It can only function properly in acidic liquid.
D.It requires a magnetic field to open and close fully
35.Which of the following is the most suitable title for the passage?
A.The History of Microrobot Research in China
B.Differences Between Old and New Microrobots

阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Culture shock isn't a clinical term or medical conditions. It's simply a common way to describe
the confusing and nervous feelings a person may have after leaving a familiar culture to live in a
different culture.36 That can be exciting, but it can also be overwhelming
Everyone feels the pressure to fit in at one time or another-whether they've lived in the area for
days or years. But don't feel like you need to change everything about yourself so you can stand out
less.37
Here are a few tips for making sure your new culture doesn't overpower the old:
Educate people about your culture.Being the one entering the new culture doesn't mean you
should be the one doing all the learning.38 They may know little about it.It will also help them
to learn more about you in the process.
Find a support group.Find kids in your class or neighbors who recently moved, too. You can
share experiences.
39 You probably left behind good friends and family when you moved. If it's going to be a
long time until your next visit, keep in touch. You also left behind other things-like your favourite
spot to hang out in.Keep pictures around to remind you of home.
Remember,it's important to be yourself.40 You will have your own pace of adaptation.
As long as you find a good combination between old and new, you'll be fine.
A.Keep in touch with home.
B.Understand the new culture.
C.But the good news is that culture shock is temporary.
D.When you move to a new place, you're bound to face a lot of changes
E.Try not to force yourself to change too fast or too many things all at once.
F.All of your experiences before you came to your new home are part of you.
G.Take the opportunity to teach classmates and new friends about your culture.

I grew up in a small town where elementary school was a ten-minute walk from my house and in an
age,not so long ago, when we children could go home for lunch and find our mothers waiting.
Our lunchtime when I was in the third grade will stay with me always.I had been picked to be the
princess in the school play, and for weeks my mother had painstakingly practiced my lines()with
me.But no matter how easily I delivered them at home,as soon as I stepped on stage, every word
disappeared from my head. Finally,my teacher took me aside. She explained patiently that she needed
a narrator(叙述者,旁白员)and had written a narrator's part to the play, and asked me to play the role
of the narrator. Her words, kindly delivered, still hurt me especially when I saw my part go to another
girl
I didn't tell mother what had happened when I went home for lunch that day.But she sensed my
upset, and instead of suggesting we practice my lines, she asked if I wanted to walk in the yard.It was
a lovely spring day and the rose vine()was turning green.Under the huge trees,we could see yellow
dandelions(蒲公英)appearing unexpectedly through the grass in bunches(簇,串),as if a painter had
touched our landscape with small amounts of gold.I watched my mother casually bend down by one
of the bushes."I think I'm going to dig up all these weeds,"she said, pulling a blossom up by all its
roots."From now on,we'll only have roses in this garden."I immediately argued,"But I like
dandelions.All flowers are beautiful-even dandelions."
