There are many different cultures in the world, all with different food, clothes, housing, etc. Let’s take a deeper look at food. Some cultures might find one type of food to have an unusual or unpleasant taste, while other cultures might find it to be a gourmet（美食） specialty. I traveled to Germany last summer vacation. In Southern Germany, one common dish is steamed（蒸制的） dumplings with a salty crust（外壳） served with either vanilla sauce（香草酱） or potato soup. The dumpling is made of sweet yeast dough（发酵面团）, while the crust is crispy（脆的） and salty. Jiaozi is the one I like best. It is a kind of dumplings either steamed or boiled. People say that it was Zhang Zhongjing, an ancient Chinese doctor, who invented it. Jiaozi has many different flavors, depending on what you put inside.
