B Yang Chen-Ning, a world-renowned physicist and Nobel Prize winner, passed away in Beijing at the age of 103. Tsinghua University, where he was a professor, described him as “immortal” in an obituary (讣告). Born in Hefei, Anhui province, in 1922, Yang moved with his family to Tsinghua in 1929. He earned his master’s degree from Tsinghua University before going to the United States for further studies in 1945. There, he received his PhD from the University of Chicago in 1948 and remained for postdoctoral work. In 1966, he was appointed as the Albert Einstein Professor of Physics at the State University of New York, working there until 1999. From 1997, he served as the honorary director of the newly established Center for Advanced Study at Tsinghua University and became a Tsinghua professor in 1999. Yang’s most celebrated achievement, completed with his colleague Tsung-dao Lee, was the theory of parity non-conservation (宇称不守恒) in weak interactions. This groundbreaking work earned them the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1957, making Yang one of the first Chinese Nobel laureates (获奖者). He was often ranked alongside Albert Einstein as one of the 20th century’s greatest physicists. Another of his major contributions, the “Yang-Mills Theory” developed with Robert Mills, is considered a cornerstone of modern physics. Despite his international career, Yang always maintained a deep connection to his homeland. His first visit to China in 1971 was a pioneering act that encouraged many other overseas Chinese scholars to return. He actively advised the Chinese government on scientific policy, raised funds to support Chinese scholars studying abroad, and dedicated his efforts to building academic bridges between China and the world. In his later years, Yang returned to Tsinghua University. He devoted himself entirely to the development of the Institute for Advanced Study and the cultivation of scientific talent. He worked tirelessly to advance physics education and research in China, leaving a lasting impact on the country’s higher education and scientific progress. His life is remembered as an immortal legend—a century-long journey of exploring the unknown with a heart devoted to his nation. 24. What is paragraph 2 mainly about? A. Yang’s scientific contributions and influences. B. Yang’s educational and career experiences. C. Yang’s effort to return to Tsinghua University. D. Yang’s effort to promote academic exchanges. 25. What was the significance of Yang’s first visit to China in 1971? A It helped him win the Nobel Prize in Physics later. B. It laid the foundation for the “Yang-Mills Theory”. C. It inspired many Chinese academics abroad to come back. D. It made him the honorary director of a newly founded center. 26. What do we know about Yang Chen-Ning from the text? A. He finished his postdoctoral work in Tsinghua University. B. He earned the Nobel Prize for his “Yang-Mills Theory”. C. He dedicated his later years to educating competent intellectuals. D. He attached more weight to physics education than scientific research. 27. Which of the following words best describe Yang Chen-Ning? A. Brilliant and devoted. B. Modest and reserved. C. Creative and outgoing. D. Cautious and humorous. C A radio show host recently asked me what kind of parent I am. I told him I try to be a lifeguard parent. Lifeguard parents keep an eye on what’s going on with their kids, ready to help if necessary, but stay out of the way when there is no need. Lifeguard parenting is described as a form of care with three stages — open attention, focused attention and active intervention (干涉). Open attention should be a parent’s default (默认的) state. They care about what their child is doing while staying away from them. They let the child operate independently, though their child may get into a play which includes uncertain results and possibility of physical danger. In this state, a sense of trust develops between parents and children, and parents are likely to feel amazed by what their child can do. Focused attention kicks in when parents notice warning signs. They might communicate with their child, reminding them to think through their actions without explicitly telling them what to do. For example, the parent might say, “Do you think that branch (树枝) can support you?” instead of shouting, “Stay off that branch”. Finally, active intervention happens when parents recognize that they must step into a situation to protect their child. One mother told me about her active intervention, which she calls the red-white-blue rule: Only intervene if you see red blood, white bone or blue bruises (瘀伤). Maybe she was joking, but the point is, kids grow up well when parents provide a safe environment and then get out of the way. The goal is to spend most of the time in open attention. Focused attention might happen only once every few days, and active intervention should be seldom. I’d love to see “lifeguard parenting” become something we all recognize as being a happy way to raise kids. Kids can do so much more than we expect if they are given the chance. 28. What do parents do in the state of open attention? A. They respect kids’ independence. B. They play together with kids. C. They amaze kids with full attention. D. They protect kids from potential dangers. 29. What does the underlined word “explicitly” in paragraph 3 mean? A. Politely. B. Patiently. C. Directly. D. Confidently. 30. Why does the author mention the red-white-blue rule in paragraph 4? A. To explain the timing of active intervention. B. To show the value of active intervention. C. To stress the safety of active intervention. D. To draw readers’ attention to active intervention. 31. What effect may lifeguard parenting have according to the last paragraph? A. Kids can show potential abilities. B. Parents can live a traditional life. C. Kids can learn from lifeguards. D. Parents can have full control over kids. D In today’s digital age, there exists a phenomenon (现象) where excessive learning can lead to inaction, a state of being overwhelmed by too much information. Consider a situation where you’re eager to achieve a particular goal. You begin by conducting extensive research, diving deep into the subject. As you take in more information, it paradoxically (矛盾地) feels like your understanding weakens. Each new concept (理念) or strategy reveals further layers, making the goal seem more complex and out of reach. This situation is a common trap: the endless pursuit (追求) of more information. Although there’s nothing wrong with learning a lot, issues arise when this effort gets in the way of practical application. If learning continuously prevents you from starting, you’ll find yourself stuck, unable to achieve your desired outcomes. An alternative and more effective approach to achieving goals is to strike a balance between learning and doing. Gather essential information, then jump into action rapidly, even if you feel somewhat unprepared. This is often the best way to learn, as hands-on experience provides insights that theoretical (理论的) knowledge alone cannot. The comparison with a baby learning to walk is a good example here. A baby doesn’t learn to walk by sitting and analyzing the process. Instead, it learns by attempting to walk, falling, and then understanding from each fall what works and what doesn’t. Through repeated effort, walking is eventually grasped. This method is applicable to goal achievement too. By taking action, learning from the outcomes, and adjusting accordingly, you gradually move closer to your goals. In summary, while the pursuit of knowledge is valuable, it’s important not to let it become a barrier to action. Learning should be a stepping stone to doing, not an end in itself. It’s through the interplay of gathering knowledge and applying it that we can truly progress towards our ambitions. 32. What stops people from achieving the goal? A. The distraction caused by unrelated tasks. B. The inability to find related information. C. The confusion caused by the information. D. The desire to learn basic concept or strategy. 33. What does the author try to advocate in paragraph 3 and 4? A. Sticking to continuous learning. B. Taking practical action without delay. C. Gaining as much knowledge as possible. D. Focusing on theoretical knowledge in study. 34. Why is the example “baby learning to walk” mentioned in Paragraph 5? A. To compare different learning styles. B. To show the importance of making mistakes. C. To stress the need for parental guidance. D. To illustrate learning through action and experience. 35. What makes the best title for the passage? A. The Balance of Learning and Doing. B. The Process of Accessing Information. C. The Pursuit of Advanced Knowledge. D. The Significance of Hands-on Experience. Many kids and teens use artificial intelligence (AI) models like DeepSeek or Doubao for everything from dealing with math homework to solving a mental health problem. ____36____ Education and child development experts say parents must take the lead in helping children understand this new technology. The AI chatbots could provide good general mental health information, but at times, AI chatbots also provide unsafe responses to questions and statements. ____40____ A. Start the talk early. B. You think painting can pay for food and rent? It’s just a hobby, not a real job!” Arthur Hale was sad and angry — he’d started his building business from nothing, and all he wanted was a stable (稳定的) life for his daughter. Their home was filled with useful things: full bookshelves, a strong dining table, and no sign of Clara’s messy paints or half-done paintings. Clara’s heart hurt. “It’s not just a dream, Dad. Painting is what I’m meant to do! I got into the Royal College of Art — this is my big chance!” Since she’d said no to the law job and accepted the art school offer, they’d hardly spoken nicely to each other. Arthur grew up poor, working two part-time jobs to finish trade school; he couldn’t understand why his daughter would choose such an unsure path. “Artists often go hungry, Clara,” he’d say again and again, his voice getting harder. “I won’t watch you struggle like I did.” That night, Clara packed her sketchbooks and paints and moved into a small room near the art school. Although she painted late every night, her hands always covered with paints, she faced one “no” from galleries after another. Money was tight — she often skipped lunch to buy more canvas and paints. But what she didn’t know was that Arthur had been watching. He’d drive by her building after work, making sure her window light was on. One evening, he even left a bag of fresh fruit and her favorite apple pie outside her door. But as time flew, neither of them decided to say sorry first. After graduation Clara held an art show successfully. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Clara decided it was time to show her father her achievement. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 康杰中学2025-2026学年度第一学期第二次月考 高一英语试题 2025.12 考生须知: 1. How much is the shirt? At a national park. B. At a diving center. C. At a school. 18. How did the speaker mostly contact her family? A. By writing letters. B. By posting blogs. C. By making phone calls. 19. What was the speaker’s unexpected challenge? A. The language. B. The food. C. The weather. 20. What is the speaker’s opinion on taking a gap year? A. Beneficial. B. Difficult. C. Necessary. B 18. B 19. C 20. W: I’m glad to be here to talk about my gap year, which took place over two decades ago. I decided to go to the island of Bali. I really wanted to volunteer at a national park, but I was too late to apply so I went for a job at a diving center. This turned out to be better than what I considered, like helping in a school. When it comes to packing, obviously you need your travel documents, your phone and charger. Then think about any medicine you might need. How did I stay in touch with family? When I first arrived, I wrote a letter every week. They took at least four weeks to arrive though. Then, when I met someone else who had a blog, I realized that that’s the thing to do. A phone call is nice, but the time difference can make that difficult. There are lots of things you’ll need to adapt to when you’re in another country. The language of course. But luckily, so many people speak English. And I knew I’d struggle with the hot food. I hadn’t realized the effect the climate would have on us, though. Generally speaking, I really enjoyed my time away. It’s a good way to make friends, and you gain confidence too. A Canada is a vast and diverse country that offers plenty of incredible tourist destinations. A 29. C 30. A 31. 根据第二段中“Open attention should be a parent’s default (默认的) state. They care about what their child is doing while staying away from them. They let the child operate independently, though their child may get into a play which includes uncertain results and possibility of physical danger.(开放关注应该是父母的默认状态。 故选A。 根据第三段中“Focused attention kicks in when parents notice warning signs. They might communicate with their child, reminding them to think through their actions without explicitly telling them what to do.(当父母注意到警告信号时,集中注意力就开始起作用了。 根据第四段中“Finally, active intervention happens when parents recognize that they must step into a situation to protect their child. One mother told me about her active intervention, which she calls the red-white-blue rule: Only intervene if you see red blood, white bone or blue bruises 故选A。 根据最后一段中“The goal is to spend most of the time in open attention. Focused attention might happen only once every few days, and active intervention should be seldom. I’d love to see “lifeguard parenting” become something we all recognize as being a happy way to raise kids. Kids can do so much more than we expect if they are given the chance.(我们的目标是把大部分时间花在开放关注上。 A。 D In today’s digital age, there exists a phenomenon (现象) where excessive learning can lead to inaction, a state of being overwhelmed by too much information. B To show the importance of making mistakes. C 33. B 34. D 35. 根据第二段“Consider a situation where you’re eager to achieve a particular goal. Each new concept (理念) or strategy reveals further layers, making the goal seem more complex and out of reach. 根据第三段“This situation is a common trap: the endless pursuit (追求) of more information.(这种情况是一个常见的陷阱:无休止地追求更多的信息)”和第四段“An alternative and more effective approach to achieving goals is to strike a balance between learning and doing. Gather essential information, then jump into action rapidly, even if you feel somewhat unprepared. 根据第四段“This is often the best way to learn, as hands-on experience provides insights that theoretical (理论的) knowledge alone cannot.(这通常是最好的学习方式,因为实践经验提供了理论知识无法提供的见解)”和第五段中“The comparison with a baby learning to walk is a good example here. A baby doesn’t learn to walk by sitting and analyzing the process. Instead, it learns by attempting to walk, falling, and then understanding from each fall what works and what doesn’t. Through repeated effort, walking is eventually grasped. This method is applicable to goal achievement too. 通读全文,结合第三段“An alternative and more effective approach to achieving goals is to strike a balance between learning and doing. In my opinion, social networking benefits people for a couple of reasons. As long as it is available, people can contact with each other easily, without worrying about distance. In addition, people can make friends through social networking, especially for those who are too shy to communicate face to face. Last but not least, social networking may facilitate the spread of information when people are in the face of danger, which can alert others to emergencies in time. After graduation, Clara held an art show successfully. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Clara decided it was time to show her father her achievement. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: After graduation, Clara held an art show successfully. It was a small but warm exhibition in a nice downtown gallery, filled with her paintings. Every brushstroke showed how hard she’d tried: the late nights she spent painting, and the hope that kept her going when galleries said no. Visitors stopped to look at her works, saying nice things about the “real feeling” in her pieces. By the end of the first day, three paintings had been sold, and a local art writer said her work was “true to herself”. Clara looked at the empty places on the walls, her heart feeling full. She knew there was one person she wanted to share this with. Clara decided it was time to show her father her achievement. She printed a photo of her sold paintings and drove to his house. Her hands were a little shaky as she knocked. Arthur opened the door, and his eyes softened when he saw her. He took the photo, staring at the paintings for a long while. “I’m sorry I didn’t see how much this means to you,” he said gently. Clara hugged him tightly, tears warm on her cheeks. Love, she realized, isn’t about forcing a path, but about supporting someone’s dream — just as her father had done, quietly and steadily, all along. 词汇积累 行为类 ①驻足观看:stop to look at /pause to admire /stand still to gaze at ②敲门:knock/rap on the door/give a knock ③紧紧拥抱:hug him tightly/embrace him closely/give him a tight hug 情绪类 ①希望:hope/aspiration ②温柔地:gently/softly/tenderly 【点睛】【高分句型1】By the end of the first day, three paintings had been sold, and a local art writer said her work was “true to herself”.(运用了that引导的宾语从句,that被省略) 【高分句型2】Arthur opened the door, and his eyes softened when he saw her.(运用了when引导时间状语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $这是高一英语模拟试题听力部分,该部分分为第一第二两节。 Hello, international friends club, can I help you?
