Ⅰ.阅读理解
A
I hate losses. Two months ago,I went crazy when I looked for the wallet I'd lost.Checking every pocket,I got increasingly anxious. The money, the credit cards, the driver's license, and the social security card in my wallet kept flashing through my mind.Whoever found the wallet could steal my identity, run up huge expenses, and put me in financial danger!
My heart was pounding.I felt so flustered that I didn't go to work, not knowing what to do.Subsequently,I called the credit card companies and canceled my cards. Then I realized that I drove without a license,so I took time off to go to the registry to get a new one.
That night,I couldn't sleep.I had a pain in my chest.I thought I was having a heart attack. After a couple of hours of tests at the hospital,I was told that it was just an anxiety attack.Losing my wallet was no big deal; I just had to cancel the cards, get a new license, and buy a new wallet.I lost a few bills, but so what? However,I was deeply troubled by it.
Frankly,we all hate losses.Daniel Kahneman,an Israeli psychologist, found that people are generally more afraid of losing things than they're eager to gain. This phenomenon is called loss aversion (厌恶).In a typical study, when people were asked if they would rather get $500 for sure or a lottery ticket (彩票) with a 5050 chance of winning $1,000,they generally chose the former. But when they were asked if they would rather lose $500 for sure or get a lottery ticket that offers 50 percent chance of losing$1,000,most people chose to take the risk.In both cases, the chances are the same but people's choices are different.
In fact, the emotions associated with loss formed a long time ago.Loss was always frightening and damaging for people then, and it's still with us.Indeed, that's why I blew the simple loss of a wallet out of proportion.

One survey suggests that 84% of British parents give notes and coins to their children, typically an allowance(零用钱) of £7 a week.Yet,by 2028,banks say that for every 10 occasions when adults buy something, they will only use notes and coins once.As for the rest of the time, they will mostly use cards or digital payments.
Experts say that paying a small amount can help youngsters learn about money and budgeting(预算).It seems that the children themselves agree, especially if pocket money depends on completing chores(琐事).Nineyearold Yusuf says:“It is making you feel like when you are older and get a job—when you do things and get paid for it.But obviously, you are going to get more when you are older, rather than just 50p a day.”
Research has suggested that money habits are set by the age of seven.Whatever children are taught at school,a few pennies at home—starting with cash—can go a long way.For those parents who no longer carry cash—just using payment cards and smartphones—Sarah Porretta,a motheroftwo says:“The trick (技巧) is to go and get some coins, just so your children have the opportunity to communicate with them.”
A growing band of pocket money smartphone apps suggests a different answer.“The way we use money has changed.Pocket money is changing,” says Will Carmichael, fatheroftwo and chief executive of one of those apps—Rooster Money.“Traditionally pocket money sits in a glass bottle at home. That is no longer the case. You might use it to pay for a pair of trainers from an online shop.We are bringing pocket money online and making it more accessible again.”
The next step for most youngsters is opening a bank account.“This is a great way of introducing your children to the world of banking,” says Brian Brown, head of insight at data analysts Defaqto.“Some of the accounts also pay interest, although not at high rates, allowing young people to get into the savings habit from an early age.”

Today we travel to film festivals around the world to learn about their different histories and goals. Some of the festivals are major competitions, while others are smaller events to help draw attention to more experimental movies.
One of the most famous film festivals in the world takes place in the French town of Cannes during twelve days in May.The Cannes Film Festival started in 1946 as a social gathering for showing movies.Later, the popular event developed into an important competition.
Visitors to the festival also see a series of short films,as well as films which don't compete for awards. But the Cannes Film Festival is more than about honoring special movies and seeing famous actors. Each year, more than 1,000 people from almost 100 countries gather to watch about 900 movies. This helps link people from all areas of the movie industry. Also,it helps filmmakers sell their movies to distributors(发行人) so they can be shown in theaters around the world.
The Venice International Film Festival starts in late August.Dating back to 1932,it is one of the oldest movie festivals in the world.
Many film festivals have very specialized subjects. In Belgium you can go to the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. For 26 years this festival has been showing science fiction and horror movies from around the world. If this event seems too frightening, you can attend the International Children's Film Festival in Frankfurt,Germany. In Turkey, the International Istanbul Film Festival, which was first organized in 1982,shows movies about art, music, dance or literature.
On any given day,a film festival is probably taking place somewhere around the world. Here we've only discussed a small number of them. These important and exciting events help to celebrate the art and industry of movies.

How do parents teach children about money? How do you teach them to get rich? Likely, you do not have an answer because you would not call yourself rich. 1 Here is what selfmade millionaires tell their kids about wealth.
You deserve to have wealth.
This statement could be read as arrogant (傲慢的),when in fact it comes from a place of humbleness.Selfmade millionaires teach their children that they deserve to be rich not because they were born into the right family but because they work hard to solve other people's problems. 2
3
Having money gets rid of tons of the issues which people find themselves in when they do not have it.Not happy with your current living situation? You can pack up and leave.Do you hate your job? Why not start your own business? Upset about a global disaster? Donate what you can to the cause.Money allows you to enjoy life on your own terms.
Nothing is guaranteed.
4 They must create their own lives and futures. It's important to teach kids about selfreliance.Legally, kids have the right to have more and more things, but it's important to teach against these values.
Solve problems to earn your wealth.
In a free market economy, everyone is looking for a way to make money. If you come up with an idea to solve the world's problem, there will be a demand for it.The bigger the problem, the more difficulty you might have getting it off the ground. 5 Pairing your skills at problem solving could be the way towards wealth.
