I was so excited but also a little nervous because my French was not good. One hot afternoon, after exploring the city, I felt really tired. I wanted to tell my French friend, Claire, “I am a little tired.” I carefully said the words I’d learned: “Je suis un pue fatigue.” But Claire burst out laughing. My face felt hot. What had I done wrong? Claire explained, “In French, there are words that sound similar but have very different meanings. ‘peu’ means ‘a little,’ but if you pronounce it differently, it can sound like ‘pue’, which means ‘stinks’ — like something smells bad. So, instead of saying you needed a rest, it sounded like you were saying you smelled bad and were tired” This awkward (尴尬的) moment was a real eye-opener for me. It made me realize just how daunting pronunciation can be in a foreign language. Even small differences in pronunciation can completely change the meaning of what you’re trying to say. The same is true in English, for example, “ship” (a large boat) and “sheep” (a woolly animal) sound very similar, but they mean totally different things. Now, I pay extra attention to how words sound and what they mean. And if I mix them up again? I’ll just laugh along. After all, laughing is part of learning — even if it’s a bit stinky sometimes. 24. Why was the author nervous about his holiday in France? A. He was poor at French. B. He never went abroad. C. He had no friends there. D. He was in short of money. 25. What awkward moment did the author meet? A. He got a wrong person. B. He made a pronunciation mistake. C. He was tricked by the locals. D. He spelt a word incorrectly. 26. What does the underlined word “daunting” in paragraph 4 most probably mean? A. Easy. B. Natural. C. Difficult. D. Clear. 27. How did the author’s experience in France affect him? A. He smelled bad and was tired. B. He hated learning foreign languages. C. He no longer considered Claire as a friend. D. He became open to mistakes in language learning. C John “Charlie” Veron — widely known as “the Godfather of Coral Reef (珊瑚礁)” — is a celebrated expert who has personally discovered nearly a quarter of the world’s coral species and has spent the past 45 years diving Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. But now the 73-year-old is raising the alarm about its future. The Great Barrier Reef, one of the natural wonders, is 2,300 kilometers long and is the only living organism that can be seen from space. It is considered a World Treasure Site due to its biodiversity (生物多样性) with 30 species of whales, dolphins and sharks. Within the reef itself, there are also a number of tiny organisms and fishes. However, its health is threatened. After the recent mass bleaching (白化)events, Veron dived in many areas of the Great Barrier Reef to see the damage for himself. “I was seeing and feeling it and it was absolutely shocking,” he says. Veron says the mass bleaching events in the past few years — and the possibility of losing one of nature’s greatest treasures — were a wake-up call for the world in the wider battle against climate change, which, together with the rising sea temperature, is considered the greatest threats to the reef. Fortunately, earlier this year, the Australian government announced nearly 400 million dollars in new funding towards scientific projects designed to help the reef. There has been criticism in Australia about the slow process for the funding. “It won’t be wasted, though,” Veron says. “As scientists will be able to create a sort of seed bank to protect the species until the climate is good enough to rebuild the reef. What the scientists hope to do is to help nature along a bit after the big carbon dioxide increase is over and it starts to come down.” 28. Why is the Great Barrier Reef considered a treasure site? A. It is a natural wonder. B. It can be seen from space. C. It has a rich variety of species. D. It is home to a great many fishes. 29. What does the passage mainly tell us? A. Climate change is threatening biodiversity. B. The Great Barrier Reef is in danger of extinction. C. Scientists have found major factors in the reef’s bleaching. D. Veron has made great contributions to environmental protection. 30. What is the text? A. A news report. B. A travel guide. C. A research plan. D. A journal entry. 31. What's Veron's attitude to the future of the reef according to the last paragraph? A. Uncaring. B. Doubtful. C. Uncertain. D. Positive. D Can you imagine digging in your yard one day and finding a life-sized soldier made completely of clay? That’s what happened several decades ago when farmers in Xi'an, China, were digging wells. Archaeologists(考古学家) have since found about 6,000 more of these soldiers, along with horses, weapons, tools, and other artifacts. The huge army was meant to protect the tomb of the first ruler of China. The first emperor of China, Qin Shihuang, accomplished a huge amount during his rule. Between 221 and 210 B.C., he started the construction of the Great Wall. He built a large network of roads. He introduced a new writing system, currency(货币), and a set of measurements. The emperor also ordered the construction of a huge army of life-sized terracotta soldiers. These, he hoped, would protect his tomb after his death. The soldiers in Xi'an's terracotta museum are today light brown, but they weren't always. They began as an army of red, blue, yellow, green, white, and purple. Sadly, most of the colors did not last to the present day. After being exposed to air during excavation(挖掘), the coating under the paint began to fall off. The paint disappeared in less time than it takes to boil an egg, taking with it important pieces of history. Now new techniques are starting to reveal the army's true colors. Archaeologists have recently discovered an area with more than a hundred soldiers. Many of these still have their painted features, including black hair, pink faces, and black or brown eyes. Chinese and German researchers have developed a special liquid to help preserve the soldiers’ colors. After they find a soldier or other artifacts(手工艺品), archaeologists spray it with the liquid. They then cover it in plastic. Archaeologists are also finding colors in the dirt around the soldiers. It’s important not to disturb the dirt, so the colors won’t be lost. “We are treating the earth as an artifact,”says archeologist Rong Bo, the museum’s leading chemist. The next challenge, says Rong, is to find a way to apply the colors to the army again. Once that happens, artists can bring Emperor Qin's army back to life in full, vivid color. 32 The terracotta soldiers were constructed to _________. A. show the outside world about China’s greatness B. be enjoyed by everyday people C. frighten China’s enemies D. protect Emperor Qin’s tomb 33. What is the main idea of the third paragraph? A. The soldiers lost their colors very quickly. B. The soldiers’ paint fell off because of the high temperature. C. Visitors to the museum are not actually seeing the real soldiers. D. Being exposed to water is bad for the soldiers. 34. What have archaeologists recently discovered? A. A place with over a hundred soldiers. B. A written description of the soldiers’ true colors. C. A special liquid in the tomb to preserve the soldiers’ colors. D. A new tomb for Emperor Qin. 35. Which statement would Rong Bo probably agree with? A. The soldiers should stay in their current, brown color. B. Artists should be able to paint the soldiers in any color they want. C. Archaeologists can only guess at the soldiers’ original colors. D. We should try to restore the army’s vivid colors. How to Be a Successful High School Student Being a successful high school student requires both patience and power. The annual sports meeting was in full swing, and the atmosphere was electric. Students were cheering, teachers were busy organizing events, and athletes were stretching or practicing their starts. Among them was Lily, a shy but determined senior high student who was about to take part in the 4×100-meter relay race as the last runner. She fixed her eyes nervously on the distant finish line. Lily’s team had practiced for weeks, and they had high hopes of winning. She stood at the starting point, watching her teammates run towards her. The first runner passed the baton (接力棒) smoothly to the second, and then the second to the third. As the third runner approached, Lily stretched out her hand, ready to grab the baton. But just as the baton was about to reach her, a strong wind blew, and she accidentally stepped on a small stone, losing her balance. She fell to the ground, hurting her knee and dropping the baton. The baton rolled a few feet away, and she stared at it in horror as time seemed to slow down. Tears welled up in Lily’s eyes as she saw the other teams’ last runners speeding past her. She felt ashamed and disappointed, thinking she had let her team down. She sat on the ground, not knowing what to do. The noise of the crowd seemed to die down, and all she could feel was the pain in her knee and the weight of her failure. But then, something unexpected happened. Her teammates rushed over to her, instead of blaming her, they knelt down and asked if she was okay. The third runner, Anna, put a hand on her shoulder and said softly, “It’s not over yet, Lily. We’re all here for you.” Other students from the crowd also came over, some bringing some water to her. A school doctor quickly arrived and dressed her wound. Despite the pain in her knee, Lily didn’t want to give up halfway. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Lily together with her teammates, began to run slowly. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 文山市第一中学高一年级12月月考 英语试卷 本试卷共8页,共67题,全卷满分150分,考试用时120分钟。 What color does the man take? A 25. B 26. C 27. 根据第一段中“I was so excited but also a little nervous because my French was not good.(我很兴奋,但也有点紧张,因为我的法语不好。)” 故选A。 根据第三段中“Claire explained, “In French, there are words that sound similar but have very different meanings. ‘peu’ means ‘a little,’ but if you pronounce it differently, it can sound like ‘pue’, which means ‘stinks’ — like something smells bad.(Claire解释说:“在法语中,有些词发音相似,但意思却大不相同。‘peu’的意思是‘一点点’,但如果你发音不同,听起来就像‘pue’,意思是‘发臭’——就像什么东西闻起来很臭。)”可知,作者遇到的尴尬时刻是发音错误。故选B。 【26题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第四段中“This awkward (尴尬的) moment was a real eye-open er for me. It made me realize just how daunting pronunciation can be in a foreign language. Even small differences in pronunciation can completely change the meaning of what you’re trying to say.(这个尴尬的时刻让我大开眼界。它让我意识到在外语中发音是多么daunting。即使发音上的微小差异也会完全改变你想说的意思。)”可知,发音可能是困难的。因此,daunting最可能的意思是“困难的”。故选C。 【27题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“Now, I pay extra attention to how words sound and what they mean. And if I mix them up again? I’ll just laugh along. After all, laughing is part of learning — even if it’s a bit stinky sometimes.(现在,我特别注意单词的发音和意思。如果我再把它们混在一起呢?我会一起笑的。毕竟,笑是学习的一部分——即使有时有点臭。)”可知,作者在法国的经历使他变得对语言学习中的错误持开放态度。故选D。 C John “Charlie” Veron — widely known as “the Godfather of Coral Reef (珊瑚礁)” — is a celebrated expert who has personally discovered nearly a quarter of the world’s coral species and has spent the past 45 years diving Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. 29 What does the passage mainly tell us? A. Uncaring. B. Doubtful. C. Uncertain. D. Positive. 【答案】28. C 29. B 30. A 31. D 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇新闻报道。主要介绍珊瑚礁专家Veron警示大堡礁受气候变暖威胁,及澳大利亚政府投入资金拯救的情况。 【28题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段中的“It is considered a World Treasure Site due to its biodiversity (生物多样性)with 30 species of whales, dolphins and sharks. Within the reef itself, there are also a number of tiny organisms and fishes.(它因拥有30种鲸鱼、海豚和鲨鱼的生物多样性而被视为世界瑰宝。在珊瑚礁内部,也生活着许多微小的生物和鱼类。)”可知,大堡礁被列为世界瑰宝的核心原因是其丰富的物种多样性。故选C项。 【29题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第二段中的“However, its health is threatened. After the recent mass bleaching (白化) events, Veron dived in many areas of the Great Barrier Reef to see the damage for himself.(然而,它的健康正受到威胁。 根据最后一段中的““It won’t be wasted, though,”Veron says. “As scientists will be able to create a sort of seed bank to protect the species until the climate is good enough to rebuild the reef.(不过,这笔钱不会白费,”Veron说,“因为科学家们将能够建立一种种子库来保护这些物种,直到气候条件适宜重建珊瑚礁。)”可知,Veron认为救助资金能用于建立物种种子库,待气候改善后助力珊瑚礁重建,语气积极乐观。故选D项。 D Can you imagine digging in your yard one day and finding a life-sized soldier made completely of clay? 32. The terracotta soldiers were constructed to _________. A. show the outside world about China’s greatness B. be enjoyed by everyday people C. frighten China’s enemies D. protect Emperor Qin’s tomb 33. 【答案】32. D 33. A 34. A 35. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Despite the pain in her knee, Lily didn’t want to give up halfway. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Lily, together with her teammates, began to run slowly. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: Despite the pain in her knee, Lily didn’t want to give up halfway. “I want to finish the race though we can’t win,” she said firmly. With the help of her teammates and teachers, she stood up, her legs shaking slightly but her resolve steady. They walked together towards the finish line. Anna stayed by her side, whispering words of encouragement, while the others formed a protective circle around her, making sure she didn’t trip again. Lily, together with her teammates, began to run slowly. Students and teachers alike clapped and shouted words of encouragement, their voices forming a wave of support. Lily felt a sense of unity and belonging that she had never experienced before. With each step, the pain in her knee disappeared, overshadowed by the warmth of being surrounded by people who cared. When they finally crossed the finish line, the applause was thunderous. It wasn’t about winning or losing anymore; it was about the spirit of togetherness and support that had turned a moment of failure into a story of courage. 2. 续写线索:坚定完成比赛的决心——搀扶起身向终点前进——队友保护鼓励——缓慢起跑——师生呐喊加油——感受团结温暖——共同冲过终点——领悟比赛真谛 3 词汇激活 行为类 ①起身:stand up/rose to her feet ②冲刺:cross the finish line/sprint to the end ③鼓掌:clap/applaud 情绪类 ①坚定:firmly/resolutely ②温暖:warmth/kindness 【点睛】[高分句型1] With the help of her teammates and teachers, she stood up, her legs shaking slightly but her resolve steady.(运用了独立主格结构作状语) [高分句型2] When they finally crossed the finish line, the applause was thunderous.(运用了when引导的时间状语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $英语试卷第一部分听力注意做题时请先将答案标在试卷上。录音内容结束后,你将有两分钟的时间将试卷上的答案转涂到答题卡上。第一节听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的ABC3个选项中选出最佳选项,并标在试卷的相应位置。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题。每段对话仅读一遍,下面你有5秒钟的时间看第一小题。Text one, can I help you?
