The beauties of our campus deserve to be better explored and can best be explored on foot. Walking is also a greener and healthier alternative to using vehicles. To encourage more students and staff members to walk around the campus, our school has launched a new “Walk for Green” initiative. Programme Setting out from the MTR Station, “Walk for Green” recommends various walking routes on campus, one of which covers the YIA Building, LSK Building and LWS Building. Card readers for different walking routes have been installed (安装) to record the number of points completed by “Walk for Green” participants. Participants who collect 60 points within 30 days will be awarded the title “Green Walker”. Participation To participate, students and staff members would choose a marked route and tap their school cards at the card readers installed at both the start and end points (and also at an intermediate card reader). Name, student/staff ID, department/unit, date, time, and card readers tapped will be recorded. Walking Journey Points Important Notes: 1. Walkers must complete one trip (either upwards or downwards) within one hour to score points. 2. A maximum of six points will be awarded each day. Every time you take a walk on campus, you are helping to preserve our environment and also keeping yourself healthy. Let’s start from today! 1. Where does “Walk for Green” start? A. YIA Building. B. LSK Building. C. LWS Building. D. MTR Station. 2. What are participants required to do? A. Collect at least 6 points. B. Complete a round trip. C. Maintain a fixed speed. D. Choose a pre-set route. 3. How many points do you get by walking from YIA Building to LWS Building? A. 1. B. 2. C. 3. D. 6. D 2. D 3. 根据原文第二段“Setting out from the MTR Station, “Walk for Green” recommends various walking routes on campus(“绿色步行”活动从地铁站出发,推荐校园内多条步行路线)” 可知,“绿色步行”活动的起点是地铁站,故选D。 根据原文第三段 “To participate, students and staff members would choose a marked route, and tap their school cards at the card readers installed at both the start and end points (and also at an intermediate card reader).(参与时,师生需选择一条标记路线,并在起点、终点(部分路线含中途)的读卡器上刷卡)” 可知,参与者需选择预设的标记路线,故选D。 C。 B Even in the face of fire, smoke and flood, firefighter Li Shengli doesn’t draw back. He simply says it is his job as a firefighter and his duty as a member of the Communist Party of China. Li, 51, who became a firefighter in 1991, has fought at the forefront in firefighting and rescue over the past 30 years. He has participated in over 11,000 tasks, saving about 30,000 trapped people. In one task in May 1993, a fire broke out in a mall in Nanchang. When firefighters arrived at the scene, smoke and fire had blocked all the exits for people inside the building, leaving hundreds of people upstairs in danger. Facing smoke and flames, the then 21-year-old rushed to the front and climbed up the aerial ladder (云梯) to evacuate people from a height of more than 20 meters. Finally, about 270 people were rescued. “Fear is a human nature, but not retreating is a kind of responsibility. With so many people waiting to be rescued, I couldn’t be afraid, let alone withdraw,” he said. In July 2021, when several cities in Henan Province were hit by severe floods, Li joined the rescue. He and his teammates used a small boat to transfer trapped people. The boat suddenly lost power and stopped in the water. Without hesitation, Li jumped into the deep water and grabbed a rope to move them to a safe place several hundred meters away. “The people on the boat were all villagers from my hometown. I brought my teammates to my hometown to fight the flood, and of course I needed to get down into the water first to help,” he said. In September 2021, Li was transferred to the command center of Jiangxi Fire and Rescue Brigade due to many physical injuries. “The platform has changed, but the heart of being a firefighter is the same. You have to get to the front line when the emergency appears, then others would trust you.” 4. Why was the aerial ladder used in the rescue of the Nanchang fire? A. All the exits of the mall were blocked. B. The mall was too high for people to get down. C. People trapped in the mall suffered from injuries. D. It was funny to carry people with the aerial ladder. 5. Which of the following can best describe Li Shengli? A. Energetic and humorous. B. Honest and confident. C. Devoted and responsible. D. Curious and brave. 6. What do Li’s words in the last paragraph imply? A. He is willing to pass his belief down. B. He expects to find more favour with people. C. He has benefited a lot from his career experiences. D. He is determined to devote himself to serving people. 7. Which can be a suitable title for the text? A. Disasters call for more firefighters B. Hard work pays off, career takes off C. Firefighter braves dangers to save lives D. Firefighter jumps into water to save teammates 【答案】4. A 5. C 6. D 7. 根据第三段第二句“When firefighters arrived at the scene, smoke and fire had blocked all the exits for people inside the building, leaving hundreds of people upstairs in danger.(当消防队员赶到现场时,浓烟和大火封锁了大楼内所有的出口,使楼上数百人处于危险之中。)” 根据第三段中“When firefighters arrived at the scene, smoke and fire had blocked all the exits for people inside the building, leaving hundreds of people upstairs in danger. Facing smoke and flames, the then 21-year-old rushed to the front and climbed up the aerial ladder(云梯) to evacuate people from a height of more than 20 meters. (当消防队员赶到现场时,浓烟和大火封锁了大楼内所有的出口,使楼上数百人处于危险之中。面对浓烟和火焰,当时21岁的他冲到前面,爬上空中的梯子,从20多米的高度疏散人群。)”和第五段“In July 2021, when several cities in Henan Province were hit by severe floods, Li joined the rescue. He and his teammates used a small boat to transfer trapped people. The boat suddenly lost power and stopped in the water. Without hesitation, Li jumped into the deep water and grabbed a rope to move them to a safe place several hundred meters away.(2021年7月,河南省多个城市遭遇严重洪灾,李加入了救援行动。他和他的队友用一艘小船转移被困的人。船突然失去动力,停在水里。他毫不犹豫地跳入深水中,抓起一根绳子,把他们带到几百米外的安全地带。)”可知,李胜利不顾自身安危参与救灾工作,由此可推知,他很有奉献精神和责任感,故选C。 3.推理判断题。根据最后一段中李胜利说的话“The platform has changed, but the heart of being a firefighter is the same. You have to get to the front line when the emergency appears, then others would trust you.(平台已经改变了,但作为一名消防员的心是一样的。当紧急情况出现时,你必须到达前线,那么其他人就会信任你。)”可推知,不管平台如何变化,他都决心继续为人民服务,故选D。 4.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第二段“Li, 51, who became a firefighter in 1991, has fought at the forefront in firefighting and rescue over the past 30 years. He has participated in over 11,000 tasks, saving about 30,000 trapped people.(现年51岁的李在1991年成为一名消防员,在过去的30年里,他一直站在消防和救援的最前线。他参与了超过11000项任务,拯救了大约30000名被困人员。)”可知,文章主要讲述了消防员李胜利不畏水火,30年来一直勇敢投身于救灾工作的故事。C项“消防队员冒险救人”适合作文章标题,故选C。 C Have you ever wondered about the layout of supermarkets? Smart designers are behind it, attracting you to walk through each aisle and fill your shopping cart without even realizing it. Grocery store design is a carefully crafted art from both psychological and marketing standpoints, according to Reeves Connelly, who studied architectural design at the Pratt Institute. He explained that there is a specific reason why fruit and vegetables are often located at the front of the store, “You’ll grab the fruits and vegetables first and then hopefully feel less guilty about buying junk food later on.” Meanwhile, essential items such as milk and eggs are placed at the back of the store to ensure customers walk through other aisles with many unhealthy choices like snacks and sodas, possibly increasing the likelihood of impulse purchases. There’s also a reason why you often feel lost in local supermarkets. Shockingly, they move things around. Reeves explained, “They are very much aware that these strategies become less effective after you visit the store a few times and get a better sense of where everything is, so they’ll regularly move the products to different aisles to confuse you. The practice is not limited to a specific store but is used across various shops.” “Their little tricks always work on me,” one regular shopper admits. “I walk in to get three things and end up spending $300; that’s why I hate grocery shopping,” he said. On the other hand, some shoppers are proud to declare they have never fallen into the trap. “That’s why I always keep a shopping list on me,” another shopper shared. “I’ve started having my groceries delivered. If I have to go to the store, I never grab a shopping cart. If I can’t carry it, I’m not buying it,” he added. 8. What is the purpose of the supermarket layout? A. To show the designer’s wisdom. B. To save shoppers’ time. C. To increase non-essential purchases. D. To provide many goods for choice. 9. What would the store owner probably do to make more profits? A. Rearrange products in supermarkets regularly. B. Distribute junk food in different areas. C. Place junk food before essential items. D. Put the healthy foods together. 10. What can be inferred from the last paragraph? A. Most shoppers are trapped in marketing tricks. B. Making lists can be a smart act for impulse buying. C. Shopping baskets are better than heavy shopping carts. D. Grocery delivery can help improve supermarket sales. 11. Where is this text most likely from? A. A shopping guide. B. A psychology report. C. A research paper. D. A business magazine. C 9. A 10. B 11. 根据第二段“Meanwhile, essential items such as milk and eggs are placed at the back of the store to ensure customers walk through other aisles with many unhealthy choices like snacks and sodas, possibly increasing the likelihood of impulse purchases.(与此同时,诸如牛奶和鸡蛋这类必需品被放置在商店的后部,以确保顾客在经过其他货架时会看到许多不健康的商品,比如零食和碳酸饮料,这可能会增加顾客冲动购买商品的可能性)”可知,超市布局的目的是促进非必要消费。 根据第三段“Reeves explained, “They are very much aware that these strategies become less effective after you visit the store a few times and get a better sense of where everything is, so they’ll regularly move the products to different aisles to confuse you. The practice is not limited to a specific store but is used across various shops.”(里夫斯解释道:“他们很清楚,一旦你去那家店逛了几次,熟悉了商品的摆放位置,这些策略的效果就会大打折扣。所以他们会经常把商品移到不同的货架上,以此来迷惑你。这种做法并非仅限于某一家店铺,而是被广泛应用于各类商店中。”)”可知,为了提高利润,店主可能会定期重新安排超市的产品布局。故选A。 根据最后一段“On the other hand, some shoppers are proud to declare they have never fallen into the trap. “That’s why I always keep a shopping list on me,” another shopper shared.(另一方面,有些购物者则自豪地宣称自己从未陷入过这种陷阱。“这就是为什么我总是随身携带购物清单。”另一位购物者分享道)”可推知,带购物清单是避免冲动购物的明智之举。故选B。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段“Have you ever wondered about the layout of supermarkets? Smart designers are behind it, attracting you to walk through each aisle and fill your shopping cart without even realizing it.(你是否曾好奇过超市的布局设计?精明的设计师暗藏巧思,诱导你逛遍每一条货架,不知不觉就把购物车塞满了)”以及全文可知,文章主要说明了超市布局背后促进非必要消费的特殊原因以及建议。由此推知,文章可能选自一本商业杂志。故选D。 D Encouraged by the health benefits of open water swimming, my team and I did the largest survey of open-water swimmers to date. Our study, published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology, shows that wild swimming improves mental health by satisfying mental needs like freedom and control in the water. As part of the Blue Health project, we surveyed around 20,000 adults in 19 countries about their interactions (互动) with blue spaces and their health. Among them, 1,200 reported swimming in blue spaces, including open-air pools, lakes, rivers and the sea. Wild swimming has more important benefits. Surprisingly though, social connection did not play as big a role in these effects on mental health as we had expected, although the number of community swimming groups is increasing. At least in these swimming groups, personal achievement seemed to be more obvious than community connection. However, more skilled swimmers, who often choose adventurous places, sometimes reported higher anxiety levels. This suggests that wild swimming can be good but also challenging. These findings add to earlier research on open-water swimming. They show that this activity is good for the physical and mental health of adults from different countries, explain how these benefits happen, and point out the discrepancy between natural waters and man-made outdoor pools. So, should we all be jumping in and recommending such experiences for better mental health? The research does not quite support that yet. We need to be realistic about some of the other challenges our oceans face, such as drowning (溺水) risks and polluted waters. Still, our results support research into recommending getting close to nature to improve certain health conditions. This is something that the UK government is prepared to spend millions on. 12. How does wild swimming improve mental health? A. By meeting mental needs. B. By reducing anxiety levels. C. By improving social connection. D. By increasing body strength. 13. What is the main idea of paragraph 3? A. social connection is not as beneficial to mental health as expected. B. Wild swimming in groups is not as beneficial as expected. C. Open water swimming doesn’t cause as much anxiety levels as expected. D. Community swimming groups are not as harmful as expected. 14. What does the underlined word “discrepancy” in paragraph 4 probably mean? A. Difference. B. Problem. C. Connection. D. Balance. 15. What can we learn from the last paragraph? A. The UK supports health studies on nature connection. B. Polluted waters are worse than drowning risks. C. Research advises everyone to try wild swimming. D. Wild swimming is risk-free for mental health. A 13. A 14. A 15. 根据第一段“Our study, published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology, shows that wild swimming improves mental health by satisfying mental needs like freedom and control in the water. (我们发表在《环境心理学杂志》上的研究表明,野外游泳通过满足在水中的自由和控制等心理需求来改善心理健康)”可知,野外游泳通过满足心理需求来改善心理健康。故选A项。 根据第三段“Surprisingly though, social connection did not play as big a role in these effects on mental health as we had expected, although the number of community swimming groups is increasing. At least in these swimming groups, personal achievement seemed to be more obvious than community connection. (然而,令人惊讶的是,尽管社区游泳团体的数量在增加,但社交联系在这些对心理健康的影响中所起的作用并不像我们预期的那么大。至少在这些游泳团体中,个人成就似乎比社区联系更明显)”可知,第三段主要介绍了社交联系对心理健康的益处不如预期。故选A项。 根据第四段“They show that this activity is good for the physical and mental health of adults from different countries, explain how these benefits happen, and point out the discrepancy between natural waters and man-made outdoor pools. (它们表明这项活动对不同国家成年人的身心健康都有好处,解释了这些益处是如何产生的,并指出了自然水域和人造户外游泳池之间的discrepancy)”可知,前面说活动有好处并解释了益处产生的原因,后面说自然水域和人造户外游泳池之间,结合语境推测应该是两者之间有“差异”,划线单词表示“差异”,与Difference意义相近。故选A项。 根据最后一段“Still, our results support research into recommending getting close to nature to improve certain health conditions. This is something that the UK government is prepared to spend millions on. (尽管如此,我们的研究结果支持开展建议亲近自然以改善某些健康状况的研究。这是英国政府准备投入数百万资金的事情)”可知,英国支持关于亲近自然与健康联系的研究。故选A项。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) Anxious about living with your roommate? Roommate conflicts (冲突) are part of many people’s college experiences. They are common.____16____However, with a little communication and skills, it doesn’t have to be the end of the roommate-relationship. ____17____Find a space, and think about what is annoying you. Is your roommate not respecting your things? Making too much noise? Instead of writing down “last week, she ate all of my food again,” try to think this way, “she doesn’t respect my stuff, although I have reminded myself” — try to find out the exact problem. Then, talk to your roommate at a time that’s good for both of you. It’s a good idea to try to set the time in advance, so you can work out what’s going on between two of you. For example, ask if you can talk when you are both done with morning classes on Wednesday, on Saturday, etc. It is very likely that you roommate knows you want to have a talk.____18____ When you are talking about your anxiety, don’t verbally (语言上) attack your roommate.____19____For example, instead of saying, “I can’t believe how impolite you are when...,” try saying, “It really annoys me that you borrow my clothes without asking.” Meanwhile, try to listen to your roommate’s thoughts. He may have some reasons behind what’s going on. If things just aren’t working out after the talks, it’s not the end of the world. It doesn’t mean you or your roommate did anything wrong. Some people just don’t live well together!____20____One of you just needs to change a room. A. Get clear about your problems. B. And they can be extremely terrible. C. They just don’t respect each other. D. So give him a few days to put his thoughts together, too. E. The more you verbally attack, the more he will fight back. F. Maybe you both are much better friends than roommates. G. Try using language that can help solve the problem, not the person. B 17. A 18. D 19. G 20. 【16题详解】 根据上文“Anxious about living with your roommate? Roommate conflicts (冲突) are part of many people’s college experiences. They are common.(担心与室友同住吗?室友之间的冲突是许多大学生经历中的常见现象。这种情况很普遍)”可知,前文提到“室友矛盾很常见”,后文用“though”转折,强调“掌握技巧就能改善关系”,中间需衔接“矛盾可能很糟糕”,形成“常见→可能很糟→但可改善”的逻辑链。故B选项“而且它们可能会极其糟糕”符合语境,故选B。 【17题详解】 根据后文“Find a space, and think about what is annoying you. Is your roommate not respecting your things? Making too much noise? Instead of writing down “last week, she ate all of my food again,” try to think this way, “she doesn’t respect my stuff, although I have reminded myself” — try to find out the exact problem.(找一个安静的地方,然后思考一下让你感到烦恼的事情是什么。 【18题详解】 根据上文“Then, talk to your roommate at a time that’s good for both of you. It’s a good idea to try to set the time in advance, so you can work out what’s going on between two of you. For example, ask if you can talk when you are both done with morning classes on Wednesday, on Saturday, etc. It is very likely that you roommate knows you want to have a talk.(然后,选择一个对你们双方都方便的时间与室友交流。最好提前确定好时间,这样你们就能弄清楚你们俩之间到底发生了什么。例如,可以询问是否可以在周三、周六等早上课程结束后的时候进行交流。很有可能你的室友知道你想要进行交谈)”可知,前文提到“提前约定时间,室友可能知道你想谈话”,后文需衔接“给室友时间准备”,D项“所以也给他几天时间整理思绪”符合“提前约定→双方准备”的逻辑,符合语境,故选D。 【19题详解】 根据上文“When you are talking about your anxiety, don’t verbally (语言上) attack your roommate.(当你谈论自己的焦虑情绪时,不要在言语上攻击你的室友)”以及后文“For example, instead of saying, “I can’t believe how impolite you are when...,” try saying, “It really annoys me that you borrow my clothes without asking.” Meanwhile, try to listen to your roommate’s thoughts. He may have some reasons behind what’s going on. 【20题详解】 根据上文“Some people just don’t live well together!(有些人就是相处得不好!)” I’m a university professor at an art school. Tom hurriedly packed his backpack, his heart heavy with disappointment. The results of the science competition were announced today, and his team hadn’t even made it to the finals. He had spent weeks working on the project with his partner, David. He thought their idea about a simple water filter (过滤器) was creative enough. As he walked towards the school gate, he saw David talking and laughing with a group of friends. Tom felt a surge of anger. “How can he be so happy? Doesn’t he care about our failure?” Tom thought. He decided not to talk to David and walked straight past him. The next day at school, Tom continued to ignore David. During the break, David came over with a smile, holding a notebook. “Hey Tom, I was thinking about our project last night...” Para 1: “Look, I don’t want to talk about it,” Tom interrupted coldly. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Para 2: Hearing this, Tom’s face turned red with shame. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Para 1: “Look, I don’t want to talk about it,” Tom interrupted coldly. Our filter worked well in cleaning water, but the presentation lacked clarity. What if we improve it and try again next semester?” Para 2: Hearing this, Tom’s face turned red with shame. He realized David hadn’t been ignoring their failure; he had been analyzing it constructively. David’s notebook was filled with detailed sketches and new ideas to enhance their water filter. B. B Even in the face of fire, smoke and flood, firefighter Li Shengli doesn’t draw back. Firefighter jumps into water to save teammates C Have you ever wondered about the layout of supermarkets? D Encouraged by the health benefits of open water swimming, my team and I did the largest survey of open-water swimmers to date. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) Anxious about living with your roommate? F.
