Wild boars (野猪) are not new to us, but in recent years, they have become a bigger problem. They are found in many areas and their actions have influenced our daily lives.
Wild boars are known for their strong bodies and special living habits. They live in groups and are very active. They are omnivores (杂食动物), eating different kinds of things like fruits, nuts, and even small animals. Their sense of smell is excellent, which helps them search for food without difficulty. This means they can be found near places with plenty of food all the time.
However, this has led to some serious issues. They often enter farmlands and destroy the crops. Farmers work hard to grow these crops, but wild boars damage them. This causes farmers to lose money and reduce the production of crops.
Besides, the increasing number of wild boars has caused more dangerous situations. _______. For example, a wild boar once hit a train, which led to the train being stopped and held up other trains. This kind of accident can be very dangerous for people’s lives.
To deal with these problems, the government has taken steps. Professional (专业的) hunting teams have been set up in some areas to control the number of wild boars. Also, some places are building barriers (障碍物) to prevent wild boars from entering farmlands and human living areas. It’s important to find a balance between protecting these animals and safeguarding human life.
16.Which of the following do the wild boars prefer to eat?

On April 19, 2025, Beijing held the world’s first half-marathon (21 km) for humanoid robots (人形机器人). This special event showed China’s leading role in robot technology. Twenty robots joined in, but only six finished. The winner, “Tiangong”, was 1.8 meters tall and finished in 2 hours and 40 minutes. Scientists used this race to test how robots work in real places like streets, not only in labs.
Beyond competitions, these robots now solve real problems across China. For example, a power line robot can work in very hot or cold places (-40℃ to 80℃) where humans cannot go safely. Now, robot development is growing fast: over 50 Chinese companies received more than 6 billion yuan in financial support this spring, showing strong confidence in this technology!
Global and Chinese companies are racing to develop robots, but there are still challenges. Both Chinese and global companies like Xpeng, BYD, Tesla, and Huawei are building robots. However, experts say that factory robots for simple tasks may come soon, while it will take many more years for home robots to handle difficult housework.
Robots with wheels move easily, but humanoid robots still find it hard to walk or climb stairs. The good news is that new AI technology is improving robots’ “brains”, helping them make decisions faster. Someday humanoid robots might deliver packages, help doctors, or even tutor students with homework in China!
21.How many humanoid robots finished the 21-km race?
A.Twenty. B.Six. C.Two. D.One.
22.Why did scientists organize the robot marathon?
A.To find the fastest robot.
B.To test robots’ real-world performance.
C.To get money for scientists.
D.To show new AI technology.
23.What does “financial support” mean in paragraph 2?
A.Money given to companies. B.Help from human workers.
C.Robots fixing power lines. D.Machines working in cold/heat.
24.According to the experts, what can humanoid robots do in the future?
A.Work with people’s help. B.Join in more sports events.
C.Do difficult housework. D.Work in extreme cold.
25.What’s the main idea of the passage?

A.Beijing robot race winner. B.Money for AI companies.
C.Difficulties in making robots. D.China’s progress in robots.
