Do you really need a smart phone?
Many students ask their parents to buy them smart phones. But most parents think that smart phones are bad for children’s health and studies. They hope their children can keep away from smart phones. Here are some students’ different ideas.
Tang Lin, 14, from Changsha, agrees with his parents. He uses a dumb phone (非智能手机) and thinks that it is OK for him. He just needs to call parents with it. Tang says that it takes many of his classmates much time to use smart phones. He also says, “They use smart phones to play games or do other things. In this way, they may not work hard at their studies.”
But Chen Yu, 16, from Nanjing, doesn’t think so. She says that she must live with her smart phone. She says, “Smart phones are useful. I often use my phone to get news. It opens my eyes.”
Zhang Yan, 13, from Hengyang, says, “I put my phone away when I am studying. I also limit (限制) the time when I use it. I follow these rules so the smart phone isn’t bad for my life.”

Watch his eyes
You can know a lot about someone by looking at his eyes. If someone looks into your eyes for a little longer than usual, or looks at you with a friendly smile more than once, he would like to make friends with you. You can smile as he does to show you are friendly, too.

Friends can notice small things. When someone sees your new schoolbag, pencil case or shoes and talks with you about them, it means he takes notice of you. For example, he says, “That’s a nice pen. Is it new?” When he discusses the small changes with you, he thinks you are one of his friends.

These findings come from a 40-year study that followed the lives of 456 children in London. The research suggests that kids who begin doing chores at a young age often enjoy more successful lives in the future.

It also brings a feeling of success and makes people feel closer. Dancing together in the kitchen can make the work feel like a party.

Some parents give rewards such as candies or small toys when children help with chores. This can encourage kids to take part. However, it’s important to give them different tasks from time to time so children don’t get bored.

Time is gold. We often feel there’s never enough of it and we feel a lack of control over it. We are always busy trying to get more done in less (更少的) time, or we get lost in playing with our phones. Actually, there are some useful ways for you to manage your time.
1. Know how you spend your time.

It also means saying “no” to some new activities when you’re already too busy.
3. Learn to enjoy the present moment.
It is needed to learn to enjoy what you are doing now. Take time to appreciate (欣赏) the little things in life, such as a beautiful sunset or a good talk with friends. With the arrival of winter, people start looking for clothing that can provide sufficient warmth. Down jackets, known for their lightness and warmth, have become the first choice for many.
Down jackets can be traced back to several centuries ago. The earliest down jackets were filled with feathers from birds for warmth. Over time, the design and materials of down jackets have undergone significant improvements, making them lighter and more fashionable.
There are various types of down jackets, including long, short, hooded, and collarless. Long down jackets are suitable for extremely cold weather, while people can wear short ones in their daily life. Hooded down jackets can provide additional head warmth, while collarless ones are lighter.
When choosing a down jacket, consider the following factors: the quality of the filling, the durability of the outer fabric, the style, and the price. High-quality down filling can provide better warmth, while a durable outer fabric can extend the life of the down jacket. The style and price are determined by what you like and how much money you plan to spend.
Down jackets require proper care to maintain their performance. It is recommended to hand wash or use professional down jacket cleaners. Because some washing machines and dryers may damage the down. Proper cleaning and maintenance can extend the life of the down jacket and maintain its warmth. Regularly patting the down jacket also helps to restore its original shape and fluffiness.

A Memorable Meeting with Wild Animals
Last summer, I went on an unforgettable trip to a wildlife-rich forest reserve with my biology teacher and classmates. We had been looking forward to this trip for weeks because it gave us a chance to see the natural beauty and its animals up close. After a long and exciting drive, we finally got to the reserve, and our hearts were beating fast with excitement.
As we walked on the narrow path in the thick forest, we could hear birds singing and leaves rustling (沙沙作响). Suddenly, we heard some loud noises and heavy steps from the bushes nearby. Before we knew it, a group of wild boars (野猪) ran out onto the path. They were much bigger than we thought, with rough bristly hair and scary (恐怖的), sharp tusks shining in the sun. We were really scared and gathered together. But our teacher stayed calm. He quickly raised his hand to tell us to keep quiet and not make any sudden moves. We held our breath and watched the boars. After a few minutes, the wild boars, seeming to think we were not a threat (威胁), slowly turned and walked away into the bushes.
After the boar meeting, our hearts were still beating fast, but we were curious and walked deeper into the forest. When we turned a corner, we saw a small, clear stream. And there, on the bank, was a beautiful deer drinking water. Its fur was a nice brown color, and its long legs were very motionless (不动的) as it drank from the stream. Its big, bright eyes, were watchful, always looking around. We stood there, hardly daring (敢) to breathe, not wanting to disturb (打扰) this peaceful moment. The deer slowly lifted its head, its ears moving, and looked at us. For a moment, we looked at each other, and it felt like we understood each other without words. Then, with a quick move of its tail, it turned and quietly disappeared into the forest, leaving us feeling surprised.
This trip was full of surprising and amazing moments. It made me realize how wonderful and mysterious (神秘的) the world of wild animals is. Each meeting reminded us of the delicate (脆弱的) balance of nature and the importance of protecting these precious (宝贵的) places. It was a journey that not only taught us new things but also touched our hearts, giving us memories that will stay with us forever.

Spring is the season to harvest West Lake Longjing tea, which is now picked by not only human workers but also “metal workers” — tea-picking robots!
At the end of March, Hangzhou welcomed its best period of large-scale (大规模) harvesting of West Lake Longjing tea. In one tea garden, a smart tea-picking robot invented by Zhejiang Sci-tech University first appeared in public after five years of research and development.
With a pull and a suck (吸), the robotic arm separates the leaves from the trees and then puts them into a storage box quickly. “The robot learned its skills through a specially designed model that offers it a large amount of information of tea leaves,” said Chen Jianneng, one of the researchers. This allows the robot to recognize tea leaves by itself with a success rate (成功率) of over 90 percent, Chen added.
Yet, the robot’s picking system needs improving before it can be more widely used. According to Professor Wu Chuanyu, leader of the research team, the robot can only take on the work of 1.5 workers at present. It will need to do the work of 5 workers if it is used for a large-scale harvesting. In addition, the robot can now only be used on flat ground, not on rough (崎岖不平的) surfaces such as mountains. It may take five more years to realize these goals, Wu told China News.
Tea planting and processing are also changed to become “smarter”. For example, there are special lamps that can attract pests (害虫) but will not hurt other “friendly” insects. This machine works for 24 hours, using color board and lights to draw pests in day and night and then kill them with an electric grid (电网).
In terms of tea roasting (炒制), although machine-roasted tea is used widely, many tea lovers argue that this method will make the tea not have the same taste with the tea made by hand-roasting. Researchers at Zhejiang University are trying to find out the tiny differences between the two methods to improve machine performance. They’re researching AI technologies to help them gain necessary information and make adjustments (调整) to roasting methods and temperatures in time.

Watch his eyes
You can know a lot about someone by looking at his eyes. If someone looks into your eyes for a little longer than usual, or looks at you with a friendly smile more than once, he would like to make friends with you. You can smile as he does to show you are friendly, too.

When Justin was a child, other children often felt sorry for him. His parents always asked him to do a lot of chores. However, when he grew up, he became more successful than others. These findings come from a 40-year study that followed the lives of 456 children in London. The research suggests that kids who begin doing chores at a young age often enjoy more successful lives in the future.
There are many good reasons why children should help with chores. First, children learn practical skills such as cooking, cleaning, and organizing when they help with chores, which will serve them well throughout their lives. Besides, when kids do chores, they can understand that they are part of a team, and doing something good for it makes them feel happier because they know they are needed.
Children are often made to help with different chores and activities at school, such as cleaning classrooms and looking after class gardens. In fact, doing chores at home is equally important.
If you find chores at home boring, you might be surprised to learn that they can actually be far more enjoyable than they seem. Here is some useful advice:
★Learn To Do Small Things:
Learn to do simple chores first. For example, you can wash the dishes, sweep the floor, or make your bed. Being able to look after yourself is an important part of growing up. Helping out at home also shows that you are becoming a responsible (有责任心的) person.
★Share The Work:
You may suddenly feel tired if you do all the work on your own. When someone shares the chores, finishing the work becomes easier. Also, cleaning can be more fun when you work as a team.
★Make It Fun:
Try to make chores enjoyable. For example, you can play music while cleaning or cooking. You can also turn cleaning into a game or compete with your family to see who finishes first. It also brings a feeling of success and makes people feel closer. Dancing together in the kitchen can make the work feel like a party.
★Offer Small Rewards (奖励):
Some parents give rewards such as candies or small toys when children help with chores. This can encourage kids to take part. However, it’s important to give them different tasks from time to time so children don’t get bored.

Time is gold. We often feel there’s never enough of it and we feel a lack of control over it. We are always busy trying to get more done in less (更少的) time, or we get lost in playing with our phones. Actually, there are some useful ways for you to manage your time.
1. Know how you spend your time.
The first step is to know how you spend your time. You can write down what you do every day for a week or two to see where time is going. Often people find the results surprising. Once we know where our time goes, we can start to make changes.
2. Get clear about what is important to you.
We all have 24 hours a day. The key is to spend time on the things that are really important to you. Sit down and make a list of the most important things you want to spend time on in your life, such as study, hobbies, family and friends. Then imagine you only have one week of holiday. What will you do first? This can help you make wise decisions on how to use your time in the future. This means spending less time on things that are not of much importance to you. It also means saying “no” to some new activities when you’re already too busy.
3. Learn to enjoy the present moment.
It is needed to learn to enjoy what you are doing now. Take time to appreciate (欣赏) the little things in life, such as a beautiful sunset or a good talk with friends. You can also spare time for yourself to do things you find interesting, such as reading or spending time in nature. You only live once and do remember that every hour you are alive is a gift.

“All grown-ups were once children but only few of them remember it.” It’s from a famous book The Little Prince. It was written by Antoine de Saint-Exupery and came out in 1943.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery was born in 1900 in France. He showed an interest in flying when he took his flight in 1912. Then he made a decision to be a pilot one day. Finally, he realized his dream. However, in 1935, his plane crashed (坠落) in the Sahara Desert. After four days, he was saved. Later, he began to write this story out of his experiences.
Both adults and children love this classic book The Little Prince. It is about the adventure of a young prince. He lives on the planet B612 with a rose. But he soon feels tired and leaves his planet to travel. He meets different kinds of people from other planets. During the travel, the young prince discovers that people are all looking for happiness but they are seldom able to get it because of their “business”. On Earth, he finds interesting things such as a snake, other roses and a fox. The fox tells him a secret: Only the heart can find the most important things. This helps the prince realize his love for the rose and he goes back to his planet.
People can read this book and have their own understanding of it. The story’s true meaning is between the lines said by the fox “You become responsible forever for what you have tamed (驯服).” The fox’s messages are unquestionably the book’s most famous ideas because they can tell how to get along with others.
The book has been translated into over 160 languages and has been sold over 50 million copies worldwide. It has been over 80 years since Saint-Exupery introduced his prince to readers, but the magic of The Little Prince lives on.
