第一节(满分15分)
Protect Wildlife, Protect Our Future
Dear teachers and classmates,
Today, I’m honored to talk about protecting wildlife. Wildlife is an important part of our ecosystem. For example, bees pollinate flowers to help plants grow, and eagles control rodent populations. Without them, our planet would be in chaos.
But many species are now in danger due to human activities. To protect them, we should take action. First, we can raise awareness through campaigns and education. Second, we must strictly oppose illegal wildlife trade. Finally, we can participate in conservation activities like tree-planting to create better habitats.
Protecting wildlife is protecting our own future. Let’s start now! Thank you!
第二节(满分25分)
As I sat alone on the bench, the door creaked open. It was Leo. Instead of anger, concern showed on his face. “Hey,” he said softly, sitting beside me. “I’m so sorry, Leo. I should’ve passed you the ball — it’s my fault we lost,” I blurted, voice trembling. Leo patted my shoulder: “We win and lose as a team. That shot was tough; anyone could’ve missed it. Don’t blame yourself.” His words warmed my cold heart. Soon, teammates filed in, surrounding me with encouragement — no blame at all.
That moment taught me more about teamwork and friendship than any victory ever could. The loss stung, but their unwavering support was a greater prize. I learned true strength isn’t never failing, but having people lift you up when you do. It’s about trust, forgiveness, and shared responsibility. From then on, I became a better player, teammate and friend. We didn’t get the trophy, but we gained something priceless: a bond that outlasted the final buzzer.

The Walt Disney Company turns 100 this year, and the whole world celebrates its stories, characters and imagination — but only Philadelphia’s Franklin Institute houses the official Disney 100: The Exhibition.
Making its world debut(首映式) right here in Philadelphia, the exhibition takes guests behind the scenes and puts them into the magic of Disney at what’s sure to be one of the must-see exhibitions of this year.
When to Visit

Admission & Tickets

In 1969, watching the landing of Apollo 11 on the Moon on TV from his parents’ farm in Canada, Chris Hadfield was amazed and excited. On that day, at only nine years old, Chris made the most important decision of his life: He was going to be an astronaut.
There wasn’t even a training program in Canada to become an astronaut; but Chris was determined. He spent a great deal of time studying and fixing engines. After school he joined the Canadian army where he learned to fly many different types of planes. Chris did a lot of research for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the United States and had special training. Finally, in 1995, he rode his first rocket into space.
Chris became the first Canadian astronaut to walk in space, and went on a number of space missions throughout his career. The most memorable was his five-month stay on the International Space Station (ISS) as commander, between December 2012 and May 2013. He posted on social media thousands of photos of Earth and videos of himself explaining how things work in zero gravity. His followers could watch him sleeping, brushing his teeth, washing his hands, or preparing “space” snacks in zero gravity, which turned him into a social media phenomenon.
Today, Chris travels the world giving talks about his work. He once said, “Decide in your heart of hearts what really excites and challenges you, and start moving your life in that direction. Every decision you make, from what you eat to what you do with your time tonight, turns you into who you are tomorrow. Look at who you want to be, and start sculpting yourself into that person. You may not get exactly where you thought you’d be, but you will be doing things that suit you in a profession you believe in. Don’t let life randomly kick you into the adult you don’t want to become.”
24. What led Chris to make up his mind to be an astronaut?
A. The life on his parents’ farm. B. His ability to fly various planes.
C. His passion for studying engines. D. Apollo 11’s landing on the Moon.
25. Which of the following was best worth remembering about Chris’ career?
A. Serving in the Canadian army. B. Working as commander on the ISS.
C. Receiving a lot of training from the NASA. D. Being the first Canadian astronaut to walk in space.
26. What made Chris popular in the media?
A. The pictures and videos he posted online. B. The space tasks he conducted in his life.
C. His strong determination to pursue his dream. D. His great contributions to Canada’s space industry.
27. What can we learn from Chris’ words in the last paragraph?
A. Opportunities go hand in hand with challenges.
B. The secret of success lies in the firm aim.
C. From small beginnings come great endings.
D. Courage is what it takes to overcome difficulties.
C
The 24 Solar Terms(二十四节气) is a traditional Chinese calendar system that reflects the changes of nature, climate, and agricultural activities. Developed over 2,000 years ago, it is based on the Earth’s orbit around the sun and the position of the sun in the zodiac(黄道十二宫). In 2016, it was listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
Each solar term lasts about 15 days, and together they divide the year into 24 parts. The terms are closely related to people’s daily lives and farming practices. For example, “Lichun” (Beginning of Spring) marks the start of the spring season, when farmers begin plowing the fields. “Xiazhi” (Summer Solstice) is the longest day of the year, while “Dongzhi” (Winter Solstice) is the shortest. “Ching Ming” (Pure Brightness) is a well-known term associated with tomb-sweeping and enjoying spring scenery.
The 24 Solar Terms also influence Chinese food culture. During “Lixia” (Beginning of Summer), people in southern China eat “five-colored rice” to wish for good health. In northern China, “Dahan” (Major Cold) is the time to eat hot pot and dumplings to keep warm. Additionally, many proverbs related to the solar terms have been passed down, such as “Rain Water nourishes all things” and “Grain in Ear is the season for harvesting wheat.”
Today, although modern calendars are widely used, the 24 Solar Terms still play an important role in Chinese society. They remind people to respect nature’s laws and maintain a harmonious relationship with the environment. Many traditional festivals, such as the Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, are also closely connected to certain solar terms.
28. What is the basis of the 24 Solar Terms?
A. Agricultural activities in ancient China
B. The Earth’s movement around the sun
C. The changes of the moon’s phases
D. UNESCO’s cultural heritage standards
29. Which solar term is linked to tomb-sweeping?
A. Lichun B. Xiazhi C. Ching Ming D. Lixia
30. Why do people eat hot pot during Major Cold?
A. To celebrate the harvest B. To wish for good luck
C. To keep their bodies warm D. To honor ancestors
31. What can we learn about the 24 Solar Terms today?
A. They are no longer used in modern life B. They are only important for farmers
C. They connect traditional festivals and nature D. They were created 1,000 years ago
D
“I write to find out what I’m thinking,” wrote the great American journalist John Dos Passos. Anyone engaged in writing understands this truth: the act of writing transforms half-formed ideas into precise, logical thought. What sounds coherent(有条理的) when spoken often appears weak and illogical when committed to paper.
A recent MIT study provides convincing scientific evidence for this claim. Researchers used wearable(可穿戴的) brain scanners to compare students who wrote essays independently with those using AI assistance. The findings were clear: AI-assisted writers “consistently under-performed at brain, verbal, and behavioral levels.” They demonstrated(显示,证明) that we need to write in order to think deeply.
This research emerges(出现) at a critical historical moment for literacy(读写能力). Childhood reading has reached record lows, with nearly half of British adults not reading a single book last year. Adult literacy is declining or making no progress across most OECD countries. Notably, average IQs have begun to decline since the 1980s, along with reasoning(推理的) and problem-solving abilities — a trend that is unlikely to be random.
Walter Ong’s influential(有影响力) work “Orality and Literacy” illuminates why writing is essential. He argued that literacy enabled Ancient Greece’s intellectual revolution. Oral cultures must “think memorable thoughts”, relying on rhyme, emotion, and cliché(陈词滥调) to preserve knowledge. Writing, by contrast, allows for precise, complex statements that can be examined, reviewed, and developed into logical arguments.
In our digital age, no technology has surpassed the complicated architecture of the book. While the internet offers fragmented(碎片化的) information, books provide rich context and sustained(持续的) logical connections. Reading is an active process that demands engagement and concentration — it is essentially thinking in dialogue with the text.
As our culture becomes increasingly dominated(支配) by short-form videos and attention-fragmenting content, we risk losing the capacity for complex reasoning. Reading and writing form the foundation of serious thought — a habit that unites history’s greatest minds. Before we yield(让步) our cognitive development to screens and algorithms(算法), we must carefully consider what we might be sacrificing.
32. What is the function of writing according to John Dos Passos?
A. Ensuring fluency. B. Recording spoken words.
C. Organizing thoughts. D. Revealing flaws in speech.
33. What does the underlined word illuminates mean in paragraph 4?
A. make up for B. get through to C. come up with D. shed light on
34. Why does the author describe reading as “thinking in dialogue with the text”?
A. To stress its interactive feature. B. To emphasize its integrity.
C. To underline its logical structure. D. To highlight its cultural relevance.
35. What is the author’s attitude towards people’s reasoning capacity in our digital age?
A. Indifferent. B. Concerned. C. Critical. D. Skeptical.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
I’ve been studying attention for several years now, and this statement that the quality of your attention determines the quality of your life has become my north star. Here’s why I believe it’s true.
Your attention is a filter(过滤器). Every moment, you’re flooded by information, thoughts, feelings, and impulses(冲动). What you focus on, whether by choice or by force, becomes your reality. The things you attend to register as targets in your brain and shape your behaviour. 36
That’s why two people can sit in the same room, experience the same events, yet have completely different days. One notices the annoyances and frustrations and the things going wrong. 37 It’s the same external reality, but very different internal experiences.
Concentration really is the foundation of everything meaningful. You can’t read deeply, listen fully, learn effectively, or connect authentically without the ability to direct and maintain your attention.
Most knowledge workers who struggle to be productive think they have time management problems. 38 You could have all the time in the world, but if your attention is broken, constantly controlled by notifications and impulses, that time becomes worthless.
39 And like any skill, it can be trained. Every time you bring your wandering mind back to the present task, you’re doing a mental exercise. Every time you resist the pull of a distraction, you’re building strength.
In a world where big tech is spending billions upon billions of dollars in tracking and breaking your attention, developing this skill gives you an incredible advantage over others. 40 While others are controlled by their impulses, you can choose your focus. When AI is replacing your colleagues, you’re doing important creative work that your boss values and can’t replace.
A. Attention is a skill.
B. Everything else fades into background noise.
C. Your attention is the most valuable resource you have.
D. I think they actually have attention management problems.
E. The other sees opportunities, moments of beauty and reasons to be grateful.
F. While everyone else is drowning in shallow engagement, you can go deep.
G. People who can maintain focus report higher life satisfaction and achievement.

The gym was packed with cheering students and parents. The score was tied, and there were only ten seconds left on the clock. We had possession of the ball. This was our chance.
As the point guard, I dribbled(运球) the ball, my heart pounding like a drum. I looked for an opening to pass. My best friend and teammate, Leo, was near the basket, but he was closely guarded by two opponents. I made a split-second decision — I would take the final shot myself. I faked a pass, jumped, and released the ball. The entire gym fell silent as the ball spun in the air towards the basket. It hit the rim, circled it twice, and bounced out. The buzzer(蜂鸣器) rang. We had lost.
The silence was then replaced by the cheers of the opposing team. I couldn’t bear to look at my teammates, especially Leo, who had been in a perfect position to score. I had been overconfident and had made a terrible mistake. I ran straight to the locker room, filled with shame and regret.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为 150 左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
As I sat alone on the bench, the door creaked open.

A. Agricultural activities in ancient China B. The Earth’s movement around the sun
C. The changes of the moon’s phases D. UNESCO’s cultural heritage standards
29. Which solar term is linked to tomb-sweeping?
A. Lichun B. Xiazhi C. Ching Ming D. Lixia
30. Why do people eat hot pot during Major Cold?
A. To celebrate the harvest B. To wish for good luck
C. To keep their bodies warm D. To honor ancestors
31. What can we learn about the 24 Solar Terms today?
A. They are no longer used in modern life B. They are only important for farmers
C. They connect traditional festivals and nature D. They were created 1,000 years ago
【答案】28. B 29. C 30. C 31. C

30. 细节理解题。根据第三段“In northern China, “Dahan” (Major Cold) is the time to eat hot pot and dumplings to keep warm.(在中国北方,“大寒”时节人们会吃火锅和饺子来保暖)”可知,在“大寒”节气期间人们会吃火锅是为了保暖身体。故选C。
31. 细节理解题。根据最后一段“Many traditional festivals, such as the Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, are also closely connected to certain solar terms.(许多传统节日,比如端午节和中秋节,也都与某些节气有着密切的联系)”可知,二十四节气将传统节日与自然现象联系了起来。故选C。
B. Concerned. C. Critical. D. Skeptical.
【答案】32. C 33. D 34. A 35. B
【语篇解读】本文是一篇议论文。主要论述了写作对深度思考的重要性,结合MIT研究、相关学术观点及当下读写现状,警示数字时代碎片化内容可能削弱人们的复杂推理能力。
32. 细节理解题。根据第一段中的“I write to find out what I’m thinking,” wrote the great American journalist John Dos Passos. Anyone engaged in writing understands this truth: the act of writing transforms half-formed ideas into precise, logical thought.(美国伟大的记者约翰·多斯·帕索斯写道:“我写作是为了弄清楚自己在想什么。”任何从事写作的人都明白这个道理:写作能将模糊的想法转化为精准、有条理的思考)”可知,约翰·多斯·帕索斯认为写作的作用是整理思路。故选C项。
33. 词句猜测题。根据第四段中的“Walter Ong’s influential (有影响力) work “Orality and Literacy” illuminates why writing is essential. He argued that literacy enabled Ancient Greece’s intellectual revolution.(沃尔特·翁极具影响力的著作《口语与文字》illuminates写作为何至关重要。
故选A项。
35. 推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“As our culture becomes increasingly dominated (支配) by short-form videos and attention-fragmenting content, we risk losing the capacity for complex reasoning.(随着我们的文化越来越被短视频和碎片化内容所主导,我们可能会失去复杂推理的能力)”以及“Before we yield (让步) our cognitive development to screens and algorithms (算法), we must carefully consider what we might be sacrificing.(在我们把认知发展交给屏幕和算法之前,我们必须仔细考虑我们可能会牺牲什么)”可知,作者对数字时代人们的推理能力持担忧态度,担心碎片化内容会削弱这种能力。故选B项。

Thank you!

The gym was packed with cheering students and parents. The score was tied, and there were only ten seconds left on the clock. We had possession of the ball. This was our chance.
As the point guard, I dribbled (运球) the ball, my heart pounding like a drum.

【参考范文】

A. Agricultural activities in ancient China B. The Earth’s movement around the sun
C. The changes of the moon’s phases D. UNESCO’s cultural heritage standards
29. Which solar term is linked to tomb-sweeping?
A. Lichun B. Xiazhi C. Ching Ming D. Lixia
30. Why do people eat hot pot during Major Cold?
A. To celebrate the harvest B. To wish for good luck
C. To keep their bodies warm D. To honor ancestors
31. What can we learn about the 24 Solar Terms today?
A. They are no longer used in modern life B. They are only important for farmers
C. They connect traditional festivals and nature D. They were created 1,000 years ago
A. make up for
B. get through to
C. come up with
D. shed light on

That moment taught me more about teamwork and friendship than any victory ever could.
